I was very worried about arranging for a rental car from this location due to prior Yelp reviews. However I was so pleasantly surprised with the customer service at this location. We came from Florida for a funeral and took the South Shore train from Chicago to East Chicago station and walked over to Enterprise to rent a car (reservations made 2 days prior with a very helpful customer service rep). While on the train I received a phone call that the person driving the car we had planned on renting was not being returned on time. Before I even had time to panic I was assured that there was a different vehicle available upon arrival. The transaction was smooth and easy. When we returned the car to that location the customer service rep dropped us off at the train station. Excellent customer service all around! read more

I reserved a car expecting the price will be the same as on the reservation, but nobody says you have to pay a 150-300$ deposit on top of the booking fees until they show you the car and insert your card, lucky my card didn't accept it lol. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! Had (supposedly) a reservation for a car. Uber to this site, only to be told they have no cars. Said they had been calling people all morning to tell them that they didn't have any cars. Told them that I received no calls,texts or emails from them. "Yeah,we've been really busy." Again,explained that I had a reservation and that I had taken an uber and now I would have to uber back home and still have no car. "Well, there's nothing we can do." Absolutely HORRIBLE PLACE, almost CRIMINAL. The people who work here are willing to screw your over to take your money. We rented a car here and explicitly told them to contact us if there's any problem with our insurance through the period. They withdrew information and didn't call us telling us that problems rose up, they instead just took our money and told us the problem when we questioned them about the sudden charge. I don't know why this place is even there. They never have any cars. Used to be good had plenty. They have nothing for the many times I called. I even reserved one and it got rented out anyway. I was told nobody had the right to reserve me a vechile First come- first serve. I was there when they opened. Almost got one and the worker went to check on something then the other worker rented the car that I was supposed to get and that lady walked in long after me. Is there anyone out there who has had this type experience. I've been an Emerald Club member with National car rental for 15 or more years, I earn a complimentary day on the Emerald account.  National and Enterprise become the same company so it seems fair to assume that the earned comp day could be used with either company since they are both the "same"company.  When I attempt to rent from National, they have no vehicles available so I rent from Enterprise and when I asked to have my earned comp day applied I am told that Enterprise does not honor National's Emerald Club credits.  But they are the "SAME" company! It makes no sense two companies worth millions of dollars and each saying there is nothing they can do. read more

I really hate sduharing my story but this location needs help in customer service. I reserved a car with a pick up at 730a. Car arrived around noon due to the location being out of cars. The driver a young lady was pleasant. The manager turned out to be jerk and that's stating it nicely. He had no customer service skills. The car was to be turned on on Sunday at the same location, but it was closed. I called customer service for Enterprise and since I was taking a flight from Indianapolis that day at 230p they okayed the car being dropped off there with no extra charge. Well there it was on my cc so I called Hammond spoke with the manager explained the situation, made him remember who I was and the error was on them not me.Because I turn in the 1 hour 36 minutes late I was charged a full day. Indianapolis in one hour ahead I had to leave message for the regional manager. All was forgiven by the regional manager but that young skinny manager in your hammond office need to develop some people skills quick or seek another job. read more

I have to write a review for this place because these guys were super helpful, when I called and being the first time image to rent a car I was not sure how to start but the guy was very helpful! I told him I would be going there later the same day and they called me like an hour before I told them I would go and asked me a few more questions to speed up the process . When I got there I was really expecting to get a really small car this guy Will was soo nice and helped me right away I told him I didn't want a little ugly car and he told me not to worry that he would take care of me and asked me if I wanted an bigger car I said as long as I don't have to pay extra and he said he called my insurance and I qualified for a good car so he gave me a 2015 suburban that car is amazing I was just a little scared because the size of that thing but he showed me the car and I took it !!! The manager, Jose, is very rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. The Enterprise in Highland is much better. Avoid the Hammond location!

I don't write reviews but this place needed one. I got in an accident but had to go to work tonight so I called picked a car in the list of cars they said was available and set up a pick up in an hour. So in an hour i went outside and waited after half an hour i called got put on hold for half an hour until a woman picked up told me I didn't call the local office and the pick up is not scheduled I told her this is the same exact number I called earlier why is it the local office now and not earlier and I'm pretty sure you were the same lady I talked to earlier she told me they have no cars in the lot and the best she can do is change my reservation to tomorrow instead of today and was very rude about her mix up I decided to cancel it altogether and never work with this company ever again read more

I read the reviews and was skeptical, but they were the closest. I'm glad I took the chance. Rented a car for a long trip. Staff were super friendly, helpful, and wonderful. Thanks, I will be returning. Great experience and staff on hand were very thoughtful and genuinely cared about the customer. What an incompetent manager Bill is! I was returning the car from a different location and had already set this drop-off up with my initial rental location. All that was required was to check the car in and, as is their normal policy, provide me a ride back to where I was staying. Bill, just like the Schererville, IN, Rt. 41 Enterprise, apparently likes to nickel-and-dime his customers, as after he went to look over the car, watermarks (from windshield washer fluid stains) magically become "Two things! There's damage on the roof and trunk. It looks like hail damage..." and he refused to check me in without my old contract, which I had removed from the car along with my personal items so as to return it in cleaned out condition. After wasting my time, he reluctantly agrees to contact the inital location and "see if they can fax it over or else your out of luck." By that time, they're closed and I'm forced to hold onto this car for the night. And the alleged hail damage? It's been perfectly clear skies in IL/IN over the past two days... and my business rate rentals give me the Damage Waiver included, so it's a worthless, mute point to me. Mr. Bill, find another sucker and learn some customer service skills. End story: AVOID the Schererville and Hammond, IN, Rt. 41/Indianapolis Blvd. locations. read more

What a difference a few miles make and it shouldn't be. I rent cars almost weekly from the Highland IN location where Mike is the manager. Since I was catching the NICTD to Chicago, Nick (from Highland Branch) suggested that I return the car to the Hammond branch and they could drop me off at the train station which is only a block away. I arrived at the Hammond branch 30 mins before my train was due to depart. A few minutes after my arrival, I greeted a very tall and slender blonde man who I know now is the manager. I explained that I rented the car from Highland but was returning there so I could catch a train that was to depart in 30 mins. He said he would check the car. He took FOREVER to check my car and consequently made it impossible for me to catch that train. I told him since I am obviously going to miss my train, I will just return the car to the Highland Branch. Good thing I could work from home, but my experience with this manager was unbelievably disappointing. Please monitor this man. A lot of people would not write a review but would just not come back. Obviously, I like Enterprise since I rent so often. However, this man gave me a different experience. I believe this man will kill the business. I certainly will not RENT nor RETURN to this location, and I cannot recommend anyone to that branch, especially given my experience with the uncaring manager. I did not feel welcome or valued as a Platinum customer. I ranked one star, but I would rank it less than that if there were a lesser ranking. #SOS read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I reserved a vehicle for a trip to pick up my child for summer visitation needing to leave on time to meet my ex in Wisconsin. I've rented before and used my water bill as I only have a credit/debit card.it has never been a problem till now. I was told a NEW CORPORATE POLICY says a bill can't cover a 2 month cycle.and they Antwan refused to rent the vehicle to me. So I leave and call Customer Service who advises me there's no such Policy...Needless to say I didn't make it to Wiscinson on time. read more

This is by far the worst enterprise I've ever experienced. I wish I could rate them with zero... Brandon the supervisor is very unprofessional, and Whitney an enterprise representative should not represent this company, she's rude, and she turns qualified customers down. When we walked in, she seemed very bothered, like we were interrupting her.. She turned my family away because we didn't bring a copy of car insurance, even though, enterprise offers insurance?? Not to mention, We had a reservation. She gave us the hardest time, stressing the fact that she couldn't do anything for us until she saw a copy of our current insurance.. We expressed that we'd have to drive all the way back home to get it, and we were already running late, and asked if we had any other options.. She said no. The worse part, her "supervisor" Brandon backed her up, and said she was justified in doing so..I've rented from enterprise for 15 years, and never have I been treated so poorly. I know that they offer insurance, but thought maybe the policy had changed, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I should probably mention I drove right up the street to the next closest enterprise and was treated fantastic, without a reservation, and was offered enterprise coverage.. When I called to speak to Whitney, she hung up in my face. When I called back I spoke with Brandon, I asked for corporates number as well as an address so that I can express my dissatisfaction, and of course I was given the wrong number by Brandon, right before he hung up in my face. It was expected. If they were doing everything by the book, the correct information would have been given.. Right? Very disappointed. When I get in contact with corporate.. Because I will.. I will be sure to post the address and number, so that something can be done about how they are doing business... By the way, I know everyone needs a job, but these two should definitely consider a different industry. The ratings for this location speaks volumes. read more
