I've seen them remain calm, courteous and friendly even when demand is high and the phones ringing constantly. They respond to emails quickly, they get you in and out of the office efficiently, and they go the extra mile to accommodates your dates or changes where and when they can. Highly recommended.

Since I had signed up for text notifications, I also got a text that my car was successfully returned. This particular location is small and there's not that much around. I've rented from Budget many times and overall the experiences have been good. The only complaints and it's pretty minor is that sometimes the cars aren't the cleanest, like sometimes there's garbage from a previous customer left in the cup holder on the door, or in the glove compartment. It's never anything too gross, so that's ok, lol.

This small little lot has served me well a couple of times over the past year. Both times the service was good and the vehicles were great. I am writing this review because my most recent car return involved a surprise - $500 more than I was expecting. I was handed the bill without the clerk going over the details and almost headed out the door without doing some quick math. When I mentioned the discrepancy between my expectation and the bill, there was some rather neutral typing on the computer, a quick phone call followed by a request that I wait 5 minutes for the manager to arrive. To her credit, she did quickly verify that the manager was just on his way back to the shop, and when he did arrive, he corrected the bill within a matter of minutes. The clerk could have been more open and friendly, but at least the end result meet my expectations. As I live in downtown, I will definitely go back.

I called 5 times and finally someone answered and said if I need a ride they wont be able to do a pick up before 2pm. I took a cab down as I needed the van before 10am. I arrived to 7 people in front of me awaiting either a car since they were all dirty or to do the rental paperwork. After 25mins I got to the counter and they said they dont have a van but this other car will be good. I explained that I had called and made sure there was a van. All of a sudden they had a van but it was just returned. Finished the paperwork and waited 40mins for the van to get cleaned inside as I could not wait any further I told them not to clean the outside. During the conversation the cleaner told me it was behind all the cars and had been here for a few days. It was a pretty rough van but last min I had no choice but to take it. I was missing the rear wiper, couple hooks inside the van and covered in dents. I returned it 3 days later and asked how the rental was I said no good. I was told Im sorry to hear that and the counter agent ended the conversation. I was given a ride home and the driver was surprised they gave me that piece of crap van as it had 90,000kms on it.

We arrived early to Halifax on August 4th and checked in at the car rental office around 9:00am. At that time we switched the rental agreement into my husbands name as I didn't have my drivers license on me at the time but he did. I mention this only because it's proof that we had checked in with the staff at the rental office on the morning of August 4th so they knew we had every intention of picking the car up that day. Although we were early, we were hoping to pick up the car then but they informed us that it would not be ready until noon. As we left we made note of their signage that stated their office hours as 8:00am to 5:00pm. We had also checked online earlier about the pick up policy, which states that non-airport offices will keep the car for 1 hour after the scheduled pick up time so when we returned to the office just before 1pm we were surprised to find the office closed. We had received no notification of this either verbally or by phone or text. There were another couple of tourists who also came to pick up their car only to find out that the office was closed. We called the contact numbers we had to no avail and then the hotel (where the office is located) front desk suggested that the staff had probably gone home early because (unbeknownst to us) it was a national holiday in Nova Scotia. We resigned ourselves to the situation, modified our plans for that day (sans car) and then went back to the rental office 8:00am the next day. Only to find that, not only did we get no apology for the fact that they never informed us of their early departure the day before so we couldn't pick up our car BUT they had rented our car to someone else!!!! This would not have been a huge problem except THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AVAILABLE TO RENT ANYWHERE IN THE PROVINCE!!!! How is that acceptable??? This situation cost us an extra nights accommodation in Halifax and over $1,600 extra in car rental as we had to take the only vehicle available from the airport the next day.

But the day we return the car, some guy immediately went for the windshield near the roof of the car. The car wasn't facing him so I have no idea how he immediately saw it. I don't know how it happened but coincidentally there was another car with the same chipped of area and someone else online also said the windshield was chipped. If I could I would really give a 0 stars. on top of that 5 days later Dollar contacted me saying I didn't return the car... I'm in Toronto right now god damn it. Do you really think I drove the car to Toronto? How stupid can this company get I have a god damn report rotting in my emails saying I returned a damaged car. Now you're saying I didn't return it. This scam is another level.
