Our recent rental experience with Enterprise UK (Glasgow Central Station to Inverness Airport) was hands-down the most dishonest and manipulative interaction I've had with any rental company, and that's a high bar. We arrived at our scheduled pickup time to find the vehicle not ready. We were told it was "being washed" and had to wait nearly an hour. While we waited--before we were even given the keys--we were aggressively pushed to purchase the extra damage waiver. The pressure was intense to the point of feeling predatory, and it raised real concerns that we were being set up to either buy unnecessary coverage or be blamed for damage later. Spoiler: we were. We were told the vehicle had no damage and asked to sign the condition report before inspecting the vehicle ourselves. Once we finally got it, the boot didn't open automatically--not from the key fob, not from the handle. We assumed this was a normal feature of the model since no issue was noted and we weren't given any instruction or manual. There were no staff on the garage floor to ask. The vehicle also had less than a quarter tank of fuel, forcing us to immediately find a station before even starting our trip--another completely avoidable delay. We returned the vehicle to Inverness Airport well before our scheduled return time. The return agent walked around the car, noted no visible damage, and I explained the boot worked the same way it had at pickup. That seemed to be the end of it... until we received an email falsely accusing us of causing the issue and asking us to file a damage claim through our credit card company. We've sent multiple detailed emails to dispute the charge, offered written statements from all four adults in our party, and requested security footage review. No one has replied. Not even basic documentation was provided that would allow us to file a credit card claim if we wanted to. Just repeated automated messages pushing us to accept responsibility for damage we did not cause. This experience has left us with the unmistakable impression that Enterprise UK is running a bait-and-blame operation, where customers are pressured to pay extra up front--and if they don't, they're targeted with baseless claims after the fact. We've rented cars across Europe and North America, from Enterprise and other agencies, and we've never dealt with anything remotely this shady or incompetent. We will never rent from Enterprise again, and I recommend anyone considering it take their business to literally any company with functioning ethics and a pulse in their customer service department. read more

I want to preface this by saying that I have had many great experiences with Enterprise and I think generally they hire some incredible people. I have been an Enterprise Plus member for years and have rarely had a bad experience. That is until I met Shannon, who is a part of the Enterprise Glasgow team. We were in Endinburg when the Queen passed last month and it caused crazy traffic problems and detours in the city the day our car was due. We communicated with the local Enterprise office and let them know we drove around for 2 hours attempting to get to the Waverley Station drop off and confirmed with them via email that the City Center Location would be fine. I parked it there and even walked to Waverly to give them the keys so that the car was safe. The enterprise representative assured me everything would be fine and they would not charge us extra for dropping it at the wrong location. He thanked us for our efforts and said others were just leaving cars on the side of the road because they were experiencing the same issue. Shortly after, Shannon emailed and informed me that we were charge an extra day (the city center location was not open Sunday so they couldnt process the return until Monday). I emailed back politely and explained all the conversation and communication we had with enterprise and the representative. She emailed back a one sentence reply letting me know that we were still being charged even though I sent her all of the communications showing that we had arranged with her co-worker and we confirmed there would be no extra charges. Shannon hasn't responded to 3 emails to try to talk it through. Shannon refused to respond to the confirmation that I gave her from Enterprise confirming we returned on the correct day. Shannon was extremely unhelpful and unresponsive. Shannon is the reason I will no longer be renting from Enterprise. It is sad to think that one employee can ruin the reputation of an entire organization from my perspective. For her to not respond and not understand that I literally went above and beyond trying to do the right thing and spent extra time on my VACATION to be a good person is really frustrating. I hope this message gets to Shannon at Enterprise Glasgow because she refused the 3 other attempts to try to solve this issues. read more

You don't need over the top service, nothing outstanding, just something that works. These guys work. Book online. Pop in with your stuff, pick up the car and move along. Simple. After a poor start hiring a car from another company in Glasgow - which shall remain unnamed, I swiftly took my business to Enterprise Rent-A-Car each time I've needed a car to travel around Scotland (which is about, say, 3 times a year). What I love about them is that they have competitive prices (you can get super cheap deals by booking early - as low as £15 per day in my case), flexible conditions and extremely professional staff. For some reason, I've also been upgraded by one or two car levels on my last two rentals, which proved to be extremely advantageous deals: last time, I had booked a small one and ended up with a gorgeous, fully-equipped red Nissan Qasqai, right in the middle of the festive season when they were hyper busy. Needless to say I was very pleased, and my partner even more! Customer service also seems to be very high on their agenda: staff always introduce themselves, give their personal business card and details, and ask you how everything was upon return. They also make sure you know about all their insurance and damage waiver options, but without being too pushy if they feel you don't want anything extra (I often travel on the wild side!) last, their city centre location is super handy if you live in the city centre, and also if you don't, as it is right being Central Station on Oswald street. I've also seen on one of their posters that they pick you up from home for free. What else do you want?! read more

I spent this whole week out of town on business between Stirling and Edinburgh and was able to get a car via the company. I showed up here early in the morning Monday morning, in order to be in Stirling by 9am and received fast and efficient service. Matthew was my point of contact and he greeted me with a smile and we had a quick chat before he brought me out to a car. At first, he put me in a small two door car, but realised it had no fuel in it, so he quickly moved me in to a larger car- a Juke (an upgrade at that) and had me on my way in no time. Since the company was paying for it, I didn't have to fuss about with much, but it's still great to have amazing customer service both when picking up the car and dropping it off. When I came in today to drop the car off, again I received the same stellar service and was in and out in no time flat! I would highly recommend this branch for anyone looking to rent a car from a company who knows what they're doing! read more

My worst fear came to fruition the other week... having to drive in the UK on the opposite side of the road from what I'm used to, and in a right-side driver manual transmission car (with 10+ years driving experience). This is in addition to having not driven a car in 8+ months. The boyfriend = deathly afraid. It was the first long weekend break I had since I started my third term of my MBA at Strathclyde. The boyfriend and I decided to head down to the Lake District to escape our hectic lives in Glasgow, and explore a place that was new to both of us. Sounds fantastic, right? Yeah, but the catch was, I had to rent a car, and rent it under my name to take advantage of the discounts. AGH! Have you seen Clueless? You know, the wildly popular mid-90s American comedy loosely based on Jane Austen's Emma, set in Beverly Hills starring Alicia Silverstone? Well you know that scene where Dionne is learning to drive and accidentally goes onto the freeway and panic ensues? That was me, and the boyfriend was Murray trying to calm me down and direct me through the sometimes hilly City Centre, and ridiculous amounts of roundabouts (Americans do it 4-way, as in 4-way stops, we don't do no roundabouts!). Luckily, we both survived and live to tell the tale. Now the boyfriend is car-shopping hungry, and I have vowed to never drive in this country, full stop. Anecdote aside, Enterprise has the great pick-up service that we took advantage of. Because it was a Bank Holiday weekend, Enterprise was particularly busy. However, the service was still pretty good, despite the wee wait we had. We had originally booked a Ka (talk about economical), but we were updated to a new Vauxhall Corsa for an extra £10 for the 4 days we had the rental. Booking online is really simple, and the City Centre location is really convenient, especially since you don't have to trek out to the airport. The prices were the best compared to other local car rentals I researched. Bottom line: As I said to the friendly Enterprise representative checking us out when asked if we'd rent from them again... "Yes, of course... unless we buy a car instead *insert cheeky smile*" read more

These guys run a very 'enterprising' business. The staff are professional and helpful and the place is buzzing. We were recommended a car to accommodate three people with big baggage and thankfully a GPS. The price was reasonable, if a lot more expensive than hiring a car in Australia. On a trip to Glasgow a year or so ago, I and a colleague picked Enterprise as it's a very short stroll from Glasgow Central station (and easy to find); other companies were fractionally cheaper but a taxi ride away. The Enterprise staff there were the most helpful and amiable that I've ever come across - nothing was too much trouble; and their system generally (website, picking up and dropping off) is smooth; I used their Glasgow office again for a rental this year, and I do now find myself actively opting for Enterprise on trips (except perhaps for airports! I found that their airport sites are more expensive and less friendly and helpful). Any minuses? Sometimes the website tells you that you have to bring a whole stash of utility bills/ proof of address etc. Surely ID could be fully confirmed in advance? read more

Booked car via online with Bank of Scotland debit card, also submitted my UK driver's licence details online, called to confirm all was okay at the branch, was told absolutely. Arrived later with my paper and plastic driver's licence, debit card and even passport and they refused to give me a car. They do a credit check on you if you have a debit card and if you do not have any debt (a mortgage, a loan...) they cannot verify your home address and you will not get a car. Nevermind your address is printed on your driver's licence, not enough for enterprise; apparently a driving licence proves your ability to drive but not your home address--even the police accept it as proof of home address--madness. This was my frustration, absolutely crazy. I offered a council tax bill, gas and electricity utility bill with my home address--not enough I was told, could be fraudulent as paper. I would hate to work here. The staff have to put up with this company policy BS and will have to put up with very dissappointed and annoyed customers till it is altered. I might add I've used this branch before twice and had no problems, so this new policy is a pain in the ass for me. So if you have a debit card and no debts you will not be driving off in a car from this place (if you are in debt and have seriously bad credit they'll find you and your address on the system no problem and you'll be speeding away with a smile). This messed up my travel plans big time; being a responsible person who pays their bills and has no debt does not pay at enterprise, they'd prefer to rent to debt defaulters. read more

We picked a car up from Glasgow Airport in March. At the time we paid a £200 security deposit. We dropped the car off at Edinburgh Airport several days later as arranged. The car was inspected by the Enterprise representative at the airport who indicated that there was no damage and that our £200 deposit would be refunded. We later received an unsolicited e-mail from the company stating that the £200 had been refunded and would appear in my account in a few days. The amount that was refunded was £149.65. The e-mails that I have sent to the company asking for clarification of the difference have been met with silence. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I will certainly not be using them again. read more
