I've gotten rental cars from Omar Landis in Brownstown a couple of times, and they've always gone…read moresmoothly. In each case, Landis had a car available when Enterprise -- the company my insurance uses -- did not. There was always a bit of confusion when I told my insurance company the only car I could find was from "Omar Landis Enterprises." The insurance company would say that was good, because Enterprise was their preferred company. No, not Enterprise. Omar Landis Enterprises. Hello? Is this thing on? Landis never put me in a new F-150 or Maserati, or even a new Chevy. But these are rental cars. Basic transportation until my own car is available. Cheap is good, and Landis cars never had any mechanical issues. I had no problem driving that old Buick Century with the stain on the headliner because, as I've said, it's a rental car. These folks get five stars because they've always had a car when I needed one. In at least one case, Landis was where I got a car after somebody blew a stop sign and disabled my own car. Two hours earlier I didn't even know I was going to need a car, and Landis came through.

Excellent, Affordable Towncar Service!…read more I recently used Landis for a special occasion. The towncar was clean. The driver (Jerry) was the best part of the evening. He arrived 15 minutes early. He had also done some research into what show my husband and I were seeing (a comedian). When we got in the car, he had the satellite radio tuned to a comedy station. He was extremely professional and friendly. For a night, my husband and I felt like rock stars thanks to the superior service Jerry provided. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because Landis overcharged me. I noticed the quote did not have all the categories filled in. I called to inquire about the quote. The employee (apparently a new hire) assured me the high charge was a refundable deposit. Later, I was charged the high amount. After calling, a different woman confirmed that I was overcharged. She was extremely nice and friendly and apologized. She resolved the issue to my complete satisfaction, but unfortunately the accountant was not available to credit the account due to the weather. Honestly, I'm torn because the issue was resolved. The mistake was understandable and I will certainly use them again, but I will leave it at 4 stars.

I literally downloaded the yelp app just to review landis…read more My family (my kids) were put into danger because of the car they sold my husband. I understand getting ripped off... fine I could have lived with that. But, selling a car with rotten brakes lines?! Incredible.

My experience with Landis Rent-A-Car has been nothing but a huge headache and a disappointment…read more We booked a Chrysler Town & Country three weeks in advance for a trip to Florida for a wedding. Compared to other places, the price just couldn't be beat. Unfortunately now we know why that was the case. On February 3 we picked up the van at the Landis lot. Immediately I noticed the TPMS sensor was flashing and the front left tire sensor was broken. I walked in and asked if they knew of the problem, and they said yes, you should be "okay". A TPMS sensor is very easy to fix, so I was surprised they wouldn't take care of it before we began our 900+ mile trip to Florida. At this point, I guess I should have inspected the whole car or even had a mechanic inspect it, but I assumed they inspected all their cars every time a rental is returned, like most rental companies. On our way to Philadelphia to pick up the rest of our family for the trip, I realized the front left shock needed replaced badly. It constantly squeaked and raddled. I was surprised this wasn't also wasn't taken care. I also discovered even something as little and as cheap as the washer fluid was bone dry. Usually this wouldn't be a huge issue, but on a long try in the winter time, it was a huge inconvenience, so we ended up buying our own. Minus those issues, the trip started off fairly well, that is until we hit South Carolina. At 8:45 in the morning I was driving 80mph and all the sudden the front left wheel started shaking violently. I pulled over instantly assuming we had a flat tire. Upon looking at every tire, all were still inflated. I noticed the front left brake smoking a lot. I called Landis right away explaining the situation and asking what we should do. I was surprised at how non concerned they were. We felt like they didn't feel bad about the situation at all. We were stranded with five people and a one year old baby on the side of a busy highway in pouring rain. We had no idea what mile marker we were and were miles away from any future exit or help. Landis told me there was nothing they can do, and to use my AAA card, which fortunately i just renewed. Why they didn't have an account I will never understand. I dont feel it should be my responsibility to use my miles to pay for a van they own. After numerous phone calls with AAA, Landis, and a trucking company we finally had acknowledgement that we would be picked up. We were stuck on the side of the road of a very busy highway for more than an hour. We had to request two tow trucks because of the fact we had six people. Both trucks were missing seat belts and were extremely unsafe. I was very shocked when an employee of Landis told me they don't inspect their rentals often, but only during inspections or oil changes. If they would have done this, most if not all of this could have been prevented. We then spent over four hours at the shop waiting for our van to get repaired. As you could imagine, this was not very pleasant being in the middle of no where with a twelve and one year old. There was no where to walk to, and just a small tv to pass the time. After speaking with the lead mechanic he mentioned that we are very lucky we were all safe. With the weather conditions and the brake seizing up, we could have been in a very serious accident. Finally at 3:00 our van was finished and we could leave. Both mechanics seemed very concerned about how poorly the van still could brake. This isn't exactly something you want to hear when you have well over 1000 miles of a trip left. We missed the rehearsal dinner that evening due to being stuck getting the van repaired. Landis said they would pay for all the repair bills, which obviously they should, but little did we know that was the end of the company being "generous". That whole vacation was ruined at that point. Every drive we took we were constantly nervous the van would break or something serious may occur again. On Saturday the 6, we had to start planning our drive back to PA. All day we would smell either brake or oil burning inside the vehicle. Since none of us are mechanics we weren't sure what the issue was. None of us felt comfortable or confident in the vehicle at all, especially for another 900+ mile trip. We ended up taking the van to a local mechanic to look over things. Unfortunately the mechanic didn't put the van on a lift to look at the brakes, so the visit was useless. We decided that we couldn't leave the van there, so we had no choice but to hope for the best and hope the van makes it back . Between the noises and smells of burning fluids, we were shocked the van made it back. None of us have ever experienced a more nerve wracking vacation. Needless to say this was an awful experience. The van situation with the stress and concern for our safety took a huge toll on all of us. When we called and spoke to the manger she was nothing short of rude and disheartening.
