Unfortunately, I stopped going after a negative experience with one of the front desk staff (a male receptionist). I had to reschedule a same-day appointment, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. I understand that salons try to avoid last-minute changes, especially when schedules are tight. That said, Nicole had plenty of open slots that day, so it didn't seem like a major issue. What really made me decide to stop coming back wasn't the rescheduling policy - it was his attitude. Rude, condescending, and unnecessarily passive aggressive, especially considering this was the first time I'd rescheduled in years. The tone and way it was handled felt unprofessional and left a bad impression. Since then, I've been going to Cosmo Blue, just a few blocks away, and the experience has been better. Friendly staff, professional service, and no attitude. A colleague of mine recently mentioned having a similarly unpleasant interaction with the same receptionist (different issue, same bad attitude), which prompted me to finally write this review. I was tired of pulling a comb through my overgrown hair in frustration so I went to Theo's for a hair relaxer. Theo took one look at my hair and knew exactly what to do. She recommended that I get a texturizer so that I could continue the process of transitioning into natural hair. She was incredibly gentle with my hair (and I'm pretty tender headed). When I was done, my hair looked perfectly straight and styled. She also offered to teach me how to blow dry my hair (a frustrating process for me). Over several visits to her salon, she taught me the tips and tricks necessary to efficiently blow dry my hair (for free!). This is a skill that I continue to use to this day. Overall, I recommend Theo to everyone. She can handle any type of hair or any texture. She goes above and beyond for her clients and conducts her business with integrity. If I could give her a ten star review here, I totally would.

I came in asking for honey blonde highlights and even showed a reference picture. I specifically explained that if the exact color wasn't possible, I still wanted a noticeable blonde look, preferably on the golden side. Instead, I ended up with extremely thin highlights that are barely visible and nothing close to what I asked for. What upset me even more was the haircut. I clearly said multiple times that I only wanted my ends trimmed and cleaned up not a haircut. My hair was nearly waist length when straightened , and she cut it to bra length with layers that I never asked for. When I expressed that I felt too much was cut off, my concerns were brushed aside and I was repeatedly told "it's cute" and that I'd like it. I'm disappointed because I felt unheard throughout the entire appointment. I came in with clear communication and left feeling like my stylist did what she personally wanted instead of listening to what I asked for.

He will work with you to transition to a totally different look and know when to say something will not work for you. I've referred friends to him who are just as satisfied as I am and are also referring to Dan. That, I believe is a great testimonial in itself. When you are with Dan, he is focused on you and not conducting business or socializing with other clients. You can count on a minimum of 1 hour for a cut (I have short hair). It's a small and social salon which adds to the experience. You do not have the buzz and chatter of the larger salons. I should mention, although I don't "do" color, I like the color I've seen on other clients. With Dan and Katie's (make-up) help, I was quite the Liza Minnelli for Halloween. Katie researched Liza's looks and did a great job. With the exception of the signature beauty mark....I wish I had the occasion to use her talents again. Dan accomplished the perfect Liza 'do' --spraying my grey hair black. Perfect. Their energy for Liza was catching... a fun memory with a dynamic team. My ONLY reason for the 4 vs 5 stars...is timeliness. Dan can run late. It's a small price to pay for a great cut in a very comfortable, relaxing environment. One last comment...the entire team at the salon is friendly and welcoming. OK...and fun.
