My therapist personally vouched that if there was a place where my son would get the help he needed, it was Surfside Recovery. She vouched for the facility itself, and the integrity and commitment of the Surfside team, and she was spot on. My son has spent the last 6 months at Surfside. He's a new person. He has clarity and goals, and is someone I look forward to hearing from each day; which, for a long time, was not the case. I hate to even refer to the members of the Surfside team as "staff" because it feels stiff. Every team member I have dealt with has carried themselves with a perfect balance of professionalism and kindheartedness. They have shown my son that they care, but they have also shown him that there are consequences for irresponsible behaviors. Truly incredible. It is not an easy task to make a recovering addict accept that there are consequences, and at the same time continue to make them feel comfortable and supported enough to follow the rules and/or not act out when consequences are given! Surfside has been an experience that has truly changed our lives in the best of ways.

If not, it is a stressful place to be, and the counselors can't even help because they can't risk pissing off Miranda. He has no sympathy for anyone who is struggling and breaks promises to both the residents and their parents. All the sports they advertise rarely happen. Now, it's all Crossfit, which many of the residents really hate. This is definitely not worth the 25-30 thousand you pay to go there.

Crestwood Manor is like an amazing cruise ship that landed in a lovely landscaped field! If you've…read moreconsidered a senior community for yourself or your parents but have haunting images of an "old age home," give them up and visit this beautiful, wonderful community! My parents moved to Crestwood Manor in 2005, and it was the best move they ever could have made...for themselves, and for our family. From our first tour, where we were greeted warmly by the staff and residents we met, and at every point through the 11+ years they lived there, the services, support, concern and care at Crestwood Manor only got more personal and welcoming. My father initially thought he and Mom couldn't afford living in what felt like such luxury, but a careful review of what was included in the fees, we saw that it was a virtual break-even with living in their house, without the work and worry of a single family home but many social benefits beyond single-home living, Their first apartment was a beautiful two BR/two bath independent living unit, custom decorated for them before their move. About 8 months after moving in, my mother became critically ill, and only survived to get to the hospital because of the quick work of the nurse and EMTs on premises. After mom's release from the hospital, the fabulous and friendly staff in the Nursing Center Rehab wing cared for Mom physically and emotionally. Every day, Dad was able to walk down the hall to share meals with her...then head off to his swim classes and exercise programs while she received outstanding PT and OT and medical care. The staff even helped us arrange a small graduation party for our son there so mom could participate, and years later during another stay, a special anniversary luncheon with a beautiful surprise cake for her and Dad! After returning to her apartment, my mother enjoyed 7 more years with a high quality of life because of the care, services, and wonderful friends surrounding her...this is a lively group of residents who enjoy games, shows, luaus, casino nights, happy-hours and more, and that social interaction motivated Mom and gave her many happy days! After her passing, the staff and community surrounded my father and supported him, engaging him in activities and never allowing him to feel alone. In fact, when my niece wanted a small wedding ceremony with my dad giving her away, the Crestwood Manor staff even transformed a lovely community room into a beautiful chapel for the ceremony, and residents lined the hallway to wish her well! The pictures and memories of that day are so special to all of us. After three years on his own in his large apartment, and after suffering a broken hip and developing light dementia, Dad spent time in the Rehab wing of the Nursing Center, recovering more quickly and fully than anyone anticipated. He decided to move into a beautiful, large Assisted Living studio apartment adjacent to the Clubhouse so he could still easily meet his friends for meals and activities. Through the process, the staff supported my sister and I as well as my dad, and they made the physical move easy, arranging (and re-arranging!) furniture and hanging pictures exactly as we wanted it all. Dad's aides became like family, caring for him with warmth, tailoring their schedule and activities to his needs, thoroughly communicating with my sister and me, and supporting him in every way possible. We were really all one big family working together to care for Dad, and making sure he was not only safe but happy. Dad passed away peacefully this spring in his apartment, surrounded by family and supported by Crestwood Manor staff and a hospice team they organized for us. We miss Dad AND the wonderful Crestwood Manor staff, but are so happy to know he and Mom both lived long, joyful final years because of the wonderful facilities and services, and most importantly, the professional and caring staff at Crestwood Manor. I couldn't recommend Crestwood Manor more highly. Visit! Move! Enjoy!

Not knowing better, she was admitted into Hospice care which basically meant to Crestwood Manor that they did not have to care for her. When we were first told about her transfer My father was assured he could visit every day. Later, we were told it was 2 visitors once a week but the same person could not visit. The Hospice team consisted of a nurse & chaplain. Both were lovely people but I would never agree to Hospice again. I instructed Crestwood that she was not to have any medications I did not approve. They assured me but later found out she was kept on a certain drug so she didn't complain when they changed her---as the staff told me. I obtained all her medical records later & found she was given the drug I instructed them not to give her. This probably led to her death.Hospice did not give her any medications. Crestwood cut off our visits, they had a COVID issue from a staff member which they assured was controlled. They told us my Mom was safe, no worries. Two days later they called me around noon to say my mother stopped breathing. Suddenly she developed non-symptomatic COVID & died. Who was with her? No one- they just walked in & found her not breathing. The nurse that called was ice cold and spoke like she was giving me a weather report. I was in shock- this was supposed to be a highly-rated care facility. Several of the employees spoke to me about her care & basically said she was in a bed alone unless Hospice came by. Within two hours they called again to see when I would have "the body" removed. I was told they did not have room to keep her. I did not even have time to call family members, or console my Dad & when this arrogant nurse called. I filed a complaint against this facility not only for their lack of care but also for the way they treated me. I was told to pick up her belongings---I questioned about the risk of COVID for me. I was assured everything would be cleaned before releasing however, they tossed her things in the front seat of my car- nothing was cleaned, and picture frames broke. Please avoid sending your loved one to this facility for any rehab or aftercare.

My 86 year old brother wad in this facility several times during the last few weeks..I live in CA…read moreand have never physically been to this facility. My brother and his wife complained nonstop about the horrendous care and horrendous food. At night they were often late with his medication and personal care. He would lie in his poop for hours despite complaints. I tried to help from 3000 miles away via phone. Most of the time a nightmare! One time when I called I wad told there was no patient by his name Wasput on hold twice..second time they still couldn't find his name, the third time they found it actually stating to me they don't always update their patient roster....really? Another time, speaking to my brother he asked me to help..someone was supposed to come in and clean him up from his poop but the female workers told him she had 17 patients in worse condition than he was, who needed her help before him..what a thing to tell a patient lying in his poop. Several times I left a message for the attending Dr. to call me and I was told by female employee that would be a surprise if the doctor even comes around, let alone calls me..amazing. My brother constantly complained about the food..how could anyone. ----up a grilled cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwich? In all fairness there were a few employees who went out of their way to accommodate, answer questions and make my brother's life a little more bearable including 3rd floor male employee (Philippino?)Rig, LVN Laurie, Manager on duty Isabell Bradley and her assistant, another lady. Although he was not mobile, they did not provide medical transfer to 2 appts he had to see a urologist and surgeon. His small statured wife was left to struggle transferring him via wheelchair and walker from bed to wheelchair to walker etc etc..according to both of them it was a nightmare and they had to find assistance the entire 2 outings.. Finally, there is a gal who is in charge of the hospital transport who Isabell's assistant told me to speak to re the transport. Believe her name is Patrice. She spoke very, very condensendingly, rude, and in the end I had to terminate the conversation, totally unwilling to assist. She spoke a mile a minute, rattling off medical terminology, procedure, not ketting me get a wird in..maybe you can find a recording if there is one..Unbelievable and a shame! Would NEVER recommend anyone stay here. Been involved in the insurance regulatory business much of my working career and this facility is a nightmare except for the few who I was fortunate to run into and mentioned above.

They make you wear a diaper so they don't have to help you to bring you to the bathroom. Sometimes you have to wait over an hour to have your care bell responded to. The facility hasn't seen a coat of paint or updating since it was opened. Some of the chairs in the dinning room are rickety and questionable as to safety. I'm sure they are understaffed and the staff are underpaid. The facility doctor is required to show up only one day per month; The APNurse is required to show up only one day per week. The administration is rude and only want your money.
