How in the WORLD can you deny the yummy yummy soft goodness that is melt-in-your-mouth pastry and a thousand calories in every bite? You can't, so don't try to deny it. Druckers is on the expensive side, but that's because it's a posh little cafe. There are never squalling children in here, because parents don't usually want to buy their child a £5 chocolate mousse whilst on their way to The Entertainer. It's just quiet, couth adults reading or having a quiet chat over their delicious Viennese treats. Druckers also do very nice sandwiches, toasted or non, and some nice savoury salads and a few other sides. Their coffee and selection of teas are broad and all very tasty. The service is nice and polite without being cloying. It really is a nice quiet atmosphere in which to get away from the hoi polloi whilst at The Bullring.

This is probably the nicer Muffin Break in the city for the design and range, having a much better range than the store in the Bullring center. For the first time visiting Muffin Break, I noticed a "savory" gluten free muffin, as well as a "sweet" one and they seem to have a good selection of them, unlike the Bullring which seemed to only have stocked one, which is uncommon for a Muffin Break store. The staff didn't seem too friendly, and spoke very broken-down English, they didn't stand out to much out of going out of their way to be friendly and make a good customer experience, they didn't seem to like me asking questions either such as if their stock sells out throughout the day, as I planned to get one in a few hours for my train journey home back from Birmingham to Manchester. I also liked how the muffins were available to view and not tucked up far away, making them hard to read or see, this branch seemed much more welcoming than most other Muffin Break stores I have visited. Overall, this is a really nice Muffin Break store, but compared to other stores which rival it, it is just average but this is a great store in the relatively new Grand Central project, and definitely warrants a solid 3 stars.

I wrote a comment on twist cafe's page asking if they had loyalty cards, and they replied yes! There was only one member of staff in there and I didn't see anything I could buy for lunch so I went for a fruity bubble tea. I chose pineapple then asked if he could make a layered drink, which he said he could mix more flavours in but they wouldn't be layered in colours like my wish of a rainbow! Ha ha so I said it was fine, just do what you can. He also said I could choose up to three different bubbles or jelly so I chose three! You can get 10% off with a student card and as I said they have a loyalty card. The drink was nice, refreshing and the bubbles and jelly were nice as I don't normally like popping bubbles but these were good. I prefer the chewy tapioca balls but they can be filling so this way it wasn't so bad! I usually buy bubble tea from meecha in the bull ring but I will buy from twist cafe again if I'm this side of town! I must try the frozen yoghurts next time!!

I took my friend to try their first fruit bubble tea slush (I'm sure its got a proper name but that's what it is) It's Jasmine Green Tea flavoured with a flavour of your choice (I chose blueberry) and in the bottom of it is three flavours of bubble drops. (I chose blueberry, mango & peach) It's grown up but childish at the same time and it's not cheap at £4 for the slush or £3 for a regular bubble tea. A great treat however.

I find the coffee's especially to be pretty good, a flat white coming in at £2.40 - the same as almost everywhere else. The food though does seem quite pricey - the sandwiches are going for nearly £5 and a friend of mine said that the breakfast muffins are tasteless. You cannot trust something passing its self off for Eggs Benedict for less that £3 and this place serves my evidence. I had a superfood salad before though, they are kept to the right when you walk in and are more moderately priced. It had some sort of rice barley thing, beetroot falafal and some other greenery like edamame and hummus. I have a dislike for hummus but it was there so i just mixed it up with everything else and I have to say it tasted really good. I felt better for it, its not often i enjoy those super healthy salads and normally they cost the earth. I would eat it again. The customer service varies a little on who you get - understandably the last time I went they were shutting in 40 minutes, but I took the last seat (they'd closed off the rest) and happily drank my coffee in a take away cup so they didn't have to wash up, made no mess etc. The woman that made my drink kindly brought it over - the woman in charge seemed to stare at me like I was a huge inconvenience. I decided to remedy that after drinking a Faculty coffee here, using the cafe as overflow seating during a particularly busy time. I was entranced by the variety and looks of the food, and have eaten lunch there three times this week to ensure that their awesomeness is consistent. I'm happy to report that Sixteen Kitchen & Bakery is one of the most delicious and affordable sandwich shops in the city centre. Sixteen is the brainchild of the owners of Faculty, and supplies the coffee shop with their delectable desserts. The shop is joined with Faculty by an open wall, so you can easily order something from one or both and sit in either location. Whereas Faculty uses a bar and two seater table arrangement, Sixteen's seating is entirely on two long tables. This is perfect for large groups or office team lunches (I've seen a lot of work being done here) but can get cramped otherwise. In addition to making desserts for Faculty, the kitchen & bakery serves breakfast and lunch until the late afternoon. I haven't made it to Piccadilly Arcade early enough for breakfast (stops at 11AM), but lunch is good enough to make it a regular mid-day stop. I've ordered the kimchi and cheddar toastie, as well as the basil, pesto, tomato, and mozzarella ciabatta, and most recently the vegemite and avocado sandwich. The kimchi is homemade of course and has a nice balance between heat and actually enjoying the flavours of it. Good luck finding kimchi that tastes this good elsewhere in Birmingham! The ciabatta was done up right and while not blowing away my tastebuds, hit all the right notes. The vegemite and avocado with tomato and mature cheddar was pretty much what you would expect. Like marmite, you either love it or hate it! All of the sandwiches are made fresh daily and packaged on the counter for hygiene. Upon selection, they are placed in a press for finishing. The menu is not set, changing every few days depending on bread (from Peel & Stone) and produce (from the Bullring Open Market). Sandwiches hover around the £4 mark and are a great value especially for the larger ones. For an extra £1 you can add salad to your meal as a side. My only complaint at this point is the lack of beverages. Sixteen makes fresh pressed juices for £3.50 and that's it. If you want anything else, you'll have to head next door to Faculty (although tap water is free). They could do with adding some flavoured/sparkling waters or other canned/bottled drinks. Overall Sixteen is a wonderful addition to the independent businesses of Piccadilly Arcade and contender for best sandwich shop in Brum.

On this occasion is purchased a toasted sandwich which was halloumi, pesto and basil on sour dough. It tasted absolutely great, the sandwich was toasted perfectly. The correct portioning meant flavours were great and not overpowering. It cost £4 which I think is very reasonable considering quality. If your waiting for a train or just need a quick lunch sandwich I would recommend sixteen kitchen!

So I was taken back to my childhood when I paid a recent visit to this corner tea room. The former flower shop has been transformed into a beautiful tea shop with a fabulous range on offer. Let's start with cakes! Scones with jam and thick cream, chocolate fudge cake, served as it come or hot. Lemon drizzle, carrot cake, Mmm ok let's move on! They do a great breakfast, sandwiches, light lunches oh and being a tea shop there is a wide selection of teas of course. I shall be popping along soon to enjoy a long lost British tradition "Afternoon Tea", on offer is a three tier stand with a finger sandwich selection, those scones I was talking about earlier and a pot of tea all for £10.00, a nice touch and perfect treat.
