It's not as big as some EG, but it has much of your needs. The fake holiday trees, wreaths, garland and twig trees makes it look like a small winter wonderland inside. It's quite festive and nice for a browse. They have all sizes is trees and some real ones as well. I can smell the subtle scent of Frazier fir inside or is it is in my head and what I want to smell inside this mask? This location is not as chaotic as the bigger one by my house in Troy. This is a Michigan family-owned business that's been around many many years I think 30 +? All English Gardens whether Clinton Township, Royal Oak, Eastpointe, Dearborn Heights, West Bloomfield are always advertising and having sales weekly or monthly. Today, Wednesday May 9th I drove my Mom to this location on Kelly Rd near 9 Mile. Even though she was not too enthused, I was excited l help buy her some annuals to put in 3 patio pots. YES I HAVE 2 GREEN THUMBS along with great ideas for planning to organize and plant flowers in porch pots since 1991 *LOL.* plus it's very relaxing. This location is set up the same way like the English Gardens on Garfield Rd near my home. They have flowers set up outside to view and shop for and also indoor greenhouses. We decided to walk, view and shop outside near the parking lot and in an area that was covered up near the check out registers. The store had specials going as one can see in my photos. 1st hanging baskets buy one get a second one half off. The prices on hanging baskets, my opinion were High. I guess back in years past $14.99 for a hanging basket are gone now they're up to $29.99 or higher for a basket of 4 or 6 flower plants. I feel it's cheaper and more fulfilling and relaxing to buy your own 4-inch pots and make your own hanging basket. *do the Math*.. pick out 4 annuals to plant and compare it to a hanging basket of 4 different plants, I'm sure it will be cheaper. This location was stacked with healthy ready to go annuals in single 4 inch pots or a 4-pack cell or a six-pack cell. HINT: an easy to grow and low maintenance flower with great colors and blooms is the "large culture geraniums" special was buy 2 get 3rd one free. Received a bouquet from English garden. Flowers were dead upon arrival. My family who ordered the arrangement came to celebrate my birthday, the same day saw the flowers, were terribly aggravated, went to Trader Joe's and remade the bouquet. Small variety with different styles and sizes. They had pumpkins, mum's, and even some Christmas decor out already. I took advantage of a manager's special today. I bought a rather expensive fountain there and within a month the pump broke. So I went to the Eastpointe store and a nice man told me it was covered under the warranty, and he would order one for me at no extra cost. It's a special pump, it has a plug for the light that is in the top bowl. Three months later, and a couple of phone calls on my end and still no pump. I don't know where this pump is coming from but it shouldn't take three months to arrive. I'm very disappointed. read more

Not only is the store clean well stocked and they do a beautiful job with their flowers and plants but the staff is amazing helpful courteous I can't say enough good things about this place and everyone in the area needs to support it so that we can keep it around. I heard from a colleague that they carried some native plants (both grasses & flowers), and they don't, really, save for maybe half a dozen that only came in gallon-sized pots and were really expensive ($20-30 each). I ended up buying a seed mix instead. Staff did not really seem to know what I was talking about. read more

This review is specifically for the Eastpointe location. The Grosse Pointe area doesn't really have many options for garden stores, other than the big box places at Eastland and a couple tiny places on Mack with limited selection. Honestly, you're probably best off hitting Eastern Market if you are looking for popular plants. But I'm glad to have an English Gardens somewhat nearby for the times it's inconvenient to get to Eastern Market or I just need one or two plants to fill an area. This location is older and smaller than the one out by Lakeside or the one on Coolidge (the latter is probably my favorite). This location does seem to have the most bonsai pots though, which I use for my succulent plantings. Ironically, I don't think they actually carry that many bonsai trees at all, but they have lots of pots! The indoor houseplant section is a bit meager, but plants are generally healthy. I also found two agaves for sale here, and while there were only two, I was thrilled to find any because they are generally hard to find in Michigan garden centers. (I later discovered Telly's on John R, which is something of an agave mecca - I've reviewed that place as well.) My biggest pet peeve about this place is the prices. A 3 inch pot of lithops (a type of succulent) will be $4 per pot and have ONE plant in it, while at Lowe's you'll find 4-5 lithops in one container for the same price. (Granted, the employees at Lowes are more likely to kill the lithops by overwatering them, but if you get them fresh off the truck, you can get some good deals.) The same was true with the hens-and-chicks. A 5" container was $5.99 and had ONE hen and no chicks. At Walmart (I hate walmart but recently learned they have surprisingly nice plants) I was buying the same size containers with 3-4 mature sempervivums and countless "chicks" attached for half that price. And they were healthier. That's like five times as many plants for half the price. I'd shop here more if the prices were a little better and I'd love to see more variety in the houseplants. read more

Came in for indoor plants that were particularly good for air purification and air-quality. Denise Miller helped me, she was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. She even came by as I checked out and sprayed down my plants to give them some extra shine. Also provided me with a cart so I could get them to my car and was just extremely helpful. I would come back specifically just due to the help I had from her. The plants were very beautiful as well though. read more

Went shopping for some house plants at the Eastpointe, Michigan store last week. I am a senior, so lifting heavy plants is difficult for me. I received outstanding service - an employee named Mary helped me by getting a cart and putting my selections in it for me - she also helped me pick out a plant for a spot I have which has low light. I had the plants delivered for what I considered to be a reasonable fee - and when there was a problem with delivery, an employee named Holly was very helpful in checking that out. It seems they had my address wrong. Holly called the delivery service and my plants were delivered shortly thereafter. All in all I was impressed with the service I received. read more
