Harris was amazing! Is he blunt in his assessment? Yes, but that's absolutely what we were looking for in an inspection; from previous personal experience, surprises are not fun. Is he prone to digressions? Yes. I personally found him very kind and quirkily charming but he does have a big personality. But far, far more importantly, he is amazingly thorough and I feel absolutely confident that we know of any issues possible to see in an inspection. We've used him twice--once on a house we actually backed out of because of all the problems he found, and the second time on the house we're closing on next week. Both times he spent three hours at not-particularly-big Philly row homes and took the time to patiently and comprehensively answer all of our questions and make suggestions re. various fixes. We had a bad experience with the inspection of the last home we purchased in Michigan (that led to thousands of dollars of emergency plumbing) so I can tell you a thorough and competent inspector is worth his weight in gold. read more

Harris was amazing! He took the time to walk us through the house and explain everything to us. I am a first time home buyer and he made sure to explain how a home inspection works and asked us many times if we had questions. His report was detailed but easy to understand. We cannot say enough good things about him. As others have mentioned this one-man operation masquerading as a legit inspection company is beyond incompetent. The report was a roughshod copy and paste job from reports for other houses (for example Harris called out drafts in our attic when our house doesn't even have an attic). Parts of the report made me and my wife laugh out loud it was so hilariously inept. I cannot stress enough that you cannot do worse, as another reviewer mentioned 0 stars is more appropriate. Harris was recommended to us by a realtor with whom we have worked with several times. She had nothing but positive things to say, and given our respect for her and her work, my husband and I reached out to Harris to schedule an inspection for a property we were looking to purchase. Harris was responsive, professional, and punctual. He was sincerely passionate about his work and we honestly felt comfortable working with him from the moment we met him. He arrived at the exact time he said and spent 5 hours going through the property with us (it's a large property - approx 5000 sq feet). Throughout our time with him, he offered suggestIons, explanations, and pointed out the pros and cons of the space. He provided us with fact-based information and opinions regarding the improvements needed. At the end, we completed a debriefing where he reviewed everything we'd gone over and answered all of our questions. This was such a helpful experience and Harris was so passionate and caring throughout. To top it off, we received a FULL, detailed, 45 page report less than 4 hours after he completed his work. I was surprised to see the negative reviews here, Harris was prompt, thorough and polite through the entire home inspection process. Harris was recommended to us by several friends who used him for home inspections. He was able to schedule our inspection 2 days after our initial call and offered a flexible schedule. On the day of the inspection he arrived early to the site and began the basics of his report so we could jump right in when we arrived. Harris started by explaining the goals and limitations of the inspections. Through all parts of the inspection, Harris took the time to explain not only the issues he found with the property, but to explain at length why certain things were beneficial, potential upgrades for the future and suggested maintenance. He was very thorough to access all parts of the home and assess the structure of the house even though he was limited by the finished basement. In all the inspection took about 3 hours and identified one major issue and several smaller issues. The inspection report was provided to us later that day and detailed all of the items he explained to us during the walk through, including the maintenance items. We were able to work with the sellers to resolve the issues we requested prior to closing and will be recommending Harris to others in need of a home inspector. read more

As a Realtor I have recommended Harris several times and therefore I have sat through more than 5 of his home inspections on different properties. All of my clients found him very detailed and timely. He delivered easy to understand reports and took time explaining potential problems in a home. He does have a quirky sense of humor, which I think breaks the ice during a very tense time in a potential buyers life. If I could give him 0 stars I would. He was extremely rude and wouldn't answer any of my questions because I was young. He went as far as making fun of me on a personal level due to my mental and physical disability. It shouldn't matter my age if we are buying a house and paying him for his services. This is the issue with someone who runs their own business, they don't have a boss. I would never use him again and I will be telling everyone I know not to use him either. My agent will be spreading the same word. Engineer, but can't tell us whether the house is safe or not when I ask. If there's something I can't understand, he should be more than happy to explain. I'm not the inspector being why I hire one. Can't stress enough how terrible our experience was. Don't waste your money. read more

Harris Gross was the inspector on our home in the Fall of 2016. He was extremely rude and arrogant. He came on our property 30 minutes early and started the inspection before his client (the buyer) arrived. Ran all of our sinks (7) for over 2 hours and filled every bathtub to capacity (we had to turn them off before they overflowed). We understood you have to see if a sink leaks but I think you would know that before 2 hours of time. He agreed to reimburse us after the inspection for the cost of the waste of water, in front of several witnesses. We went to the trouble of contacting our water company and breaking down the bill. Emailed him twice with no response so we placed a phone call to him. Harris denied ever saying it and suggested he was being sarcastic, very unprofessional. Also , as a side note , part of his inspection report made fun of my parents wall paper . Just a few examples of his rudeness and unprofessionalism. read more

Harris recently completed my home inspection and did an excellent job. I could not have asked for a more meticulous home/termite/radon inspection at a very reasonable price. Harris went through the entire home with impressive detail, leaving me feeling incredibly informed about my purchase at the end of the inspection. He did a great job of prioritizing issues that needed to be addressed immediately vs. those that could be addressed in the future. I felt educated both about the condition of my future home and how to deal with the mechanics of my home at the conclusion of the inspection. He completed and shared his report in less than 24 hours. This company failed to reveal evident structural deficiencies which have been discovered at our residence.
