First off, everyone there was very courteous and helpful. It seems like a very much family atmosphere in which there is a great caring atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, they wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied. The student stylist that I had was very sweet. She was very thoughtful and carefully explained what was going to happen. She waited for her instructor to join us and once she did I then proceeded to explain what I was looking for. I brought a bunch of pics with me of what I wanted and also of what I did not want. They listened to me explain that I wanted a more of an ashey blonde with highlights look. I wanted to stay away from chestnut, honey or auburn tones and add to the fact that I am a naturally dark brunette. I presented them, with no doubt, a series of challenges but they both rose to the challenge. I ended up being at Beau Monde for over five hours but I did have over 100 foils in my hair! They were both very on top of it and and at times both of these ladies were working on me. The end result is something that I have always dreamed about. They did such an amazing job and I could not have gone to a better place! Thank you Beau Monde, I'll see you in a few months! Rachel and Shari, you two are the best!

Vivian was incredibly clear and upfront about the lip blushing process, including the fact that it can be more intense than eyeliner or brows. For me, that was true, though I know it varies by person. My first pass healed lighter than I wanted, and at my follow-up Vivian really listened. She made sure I was thoroughly numbed and adjusted the color to a richer shade that I love. She also explained that some lips simply don't retain pigment as easily, which was reassuring and helpful to understand. Healing was easy, and I'm excited to see how the color continues to settle over the next few weeks. What really stands out to me about this studio is how kind, attentive, and thoughtful all of the artists are. One consistent approach I've noticed is that they intentionally go lighter at first, which makes total sense. You can always deepen the color at the follow-up, and it avoids ending up with something too intense. Overall, another great experience and I couldn't be happier with the care and results.

I am a little crazy when it comes to Halloween. It takes a week to decorate the house and we have a…read morehalloween buffet every year. So, when my husband, told me the West Coast Haunters were having a convention at the Double Tree Hilton in Portland, I was amped to put it mildly. The convention included a friday night bus tour of Scream haunted house. Which had sold out by the time I got to the website, but I emailed them, and they could not have been nicer about helping me secure tickets for the friday night tour, which included 3 full size tour buses. The tour was supposed to be lights off haunted tour and then lights on. The Scream tour was really the warehouse, due to the change of location. It was a learning experience, so I was okay with it, but there were other haunters not impressed with the fact that it was just looking at their storage facility when the description was two full haunted house tours. We went to Vancouver, Washington for the next haunted house and they put on a dinner catered by Q'doba. Then they let us go through the haunted house lights off and then lights on. This was a really good haunted house, it took awhile to get through it. Since these conventions are usually focused on professional haunted house owners, serious home haunters and FX makeup people, it is really informative. It is hard to be afraid going through the houses anymore, since I am now a halloween junkie looking for the next best scare but I can appreciate when it is done well. We are looking to open a haunted house in the next couple of years and made some great connections with owners willing to share tips and have us come and check their stuff out. So the networking aspect of this convention is priceless. This convention is still coming together, so looking past the growing pains, as they put it to us at the ticket booth, I think they have done a great job. The school for the Deaf, has done a great job, as well, with the entire thing. If you go to the website you can read the history of haunt and the School for the Deaf, it is a really cool. We did win $100 raffle draw for a year of the Haunt Cast, so that was a great way to end the weekend. The vendors there were all pretty nice for the most part. They told us they are going to try to be in the same spot next year, so if you have any interest in haunting, then mark the calendar for 2013. Check out the website for more details. www.westcoasthauntersconvention.com/

The training happened during the Covid and it was kind of nice in a way because we only have 4 students which gave us plenty of time one-on-one with instructor and asking question. The business portion covers everything about starting a coffee house. It covers negotiating a lease, startup cost, employee management and training. There is much more involving stuff that is too long to list but they do give you a binder with all the info and a USB with their presentations and handouts. They also give you a book written by Bruce Milleto. The barista portion was 100% hands on and you learn by doing and doing and doing. They have over 10 commercial espresso machines and more than enough milk to practice latter art. They are very easy going with the equipment and are not anal at all. They are very user friendly. I had some knowledge on how to pull shots and steaming milk but they really opened my eyes and taught me knew information. They also teach you other methods of brewing coffee. The class is led by Josh and man he is such a cool ass dude. Very friendly and outgoing and patient. I can tell he really loves what he does. Great guy with a lot of soul. Matt Milleto who is the vice president is such a down to earth guy very easy going and mellow. They both gave good hospitality to the students and provided us with really good food as well. They are both very welcoming and make you feel at home from day one. The school is also very intimate and the classes stay small.

The security team in the lobby was always helpful and polite, and there is bike parking in the basement. For the actual course I took: I decided to attend the Intro to Programming Course (evening/part time) at Epicodus once I knew I was moving to Portland from NYC. It was a great chance to meet new people, learn some new skills, and see if I might be interested in changing careers. The Intro to Programming Course was perfect for me because it allowed me to get a taste of programming without having to commit to a full-time program and was flexible around a work schedule. The price point was also perfect for me. Our instructor Kyle was great - he was happy to be as hands-on or as laid back as each programming pair needed. I loved pair-programming - there are so many online resources that you could technically teach yourself most of the programming stuff you'd need to know... but if you're an interactive learner like me that benefits from mutual accountability.... SIGN UP FOR EPICODUS. You'll learn so much from your partners, both about programming and how to think about problem solving. This course was totally worth it!

I had driven all the way and decided I would be leaving him with staff who would care for him. I take note of the Do Not Swim in Water signs. We arrived early as there was no traffic on the Monday before the 4th. I chatted briefly with the girl with a clipboard. Then I stood there while she checked in a returning camper. I had to inquire if I could check in my son. Her response " well we don't start till 9am". Yes, I realize Im early but do I stand here, while you stand here till then. Sigh. When my wife picks up my boy she is informed that my son lagged behind the group with a friend, the group turned and they went straight. So, they lost him! In this park I was already none too keen on. The wife also is informed he spent the day in the water and being buried in the sand. She immediately came home and googled the reason why there is no swimming. Luckily it was not a Hep A outbreak just that 2 people drowned! My son hops in the shower and when he gets out we are able to see his face is scorched. My wife was told they tried to shade him with sticks as he was buried in the sand. Hmmm couldn't borrow sunscreen or have the camp stock it? We expect a lot of responsibility from my son and work hard on independence. We discussed his role in getting lost but at best it is only half his fault, he is 8years old. Final complaint, my son did not even complete the bone activity because he said "you don't even have to do the activities". If you want your child to participate in this type of invaluable education chose Trackers PDX. My son went and gained confidence and knowledge. I was very pleased with their program. I was so disappointed with Rewild my son did not return. My wife couldn't sleep due to her concerns of what could go wrong the rest of the week. Next summer, only Trackers.
