The weekend hours are limited, unfortunately. It would be awesome to have Saturday afternoon open. I'm so glad we were able to spend the morning here! One tip, adults and kids must wear socks, no shoes.

They spend a ton of time outside. There is a huge outdoor play space, with bikes and trikes, a tepee, swings and grass!! She is available to the children and allows them to explore their world in their own way.

The…read moreowners Marcie and Mert, and their team of loving caregivers has been a God send for our family. My disabled mother came to live with us 8 years ago and languished in bed all day watching TV. My hair stylist told me about Gentog when it opened (her mother is one of the senior caregivers) and my mom started attending once a week at first. She now goes twice a week and has for almost 5 years. Gentog provides great social interaction, but more than that, she's made lifelong friends with the staff and other participants. Since starting Gentog, my mother's health has improved as well. The social interaction alone is a plus, but they were also helpful in connecting us with other senior services. My mom gained a level of independence once they got her started using the TriMet lift bus system, and she now gets books delivered by mail from the local library. They also provide amazing support for caregivers through educational classes, seminars and support groups. We are moving out of state, and one of the hardest parts of this move is leaving Gentog. We will miss their loving care and support tremendously! I'd trust Gentog to care for any of my family members, babies or adults. They are truly amazing!

It really has created this safe space where kids feel supported, loved and free to be themselves and grow. She is amazing at redirecting when needed and also comforting when needed. I sadly feel compelled to share our poor experience with this childcare site. Our children…read moreimmediately reported yelling when they began. We approached this with inquiry and asked the director about it. She admitted to us directly that she often uses a loud voice. We explained it alarmed our boys and asked that she be more aware of how her behavior/yelling impacts the class of young kids. Nothing changed. After a few more weeks, our boys shared the discipline approach. They explained that children were told to "sit on the wall" when they didn't listen or follow directions. Again, we asked Misty directly what this was about. She explained it as a "break," but it was clear from our boys that it was used as a punitive and public time out (which differs from their handbook policy). Sadly our boys often came home to share stories of different children being told to sit on the wall, and that their crying and sadness bothered them. One of the more serious concerns was learning that outdoor time is often unsupervised. The teacher(s) use this time to cook/prep in the kitchen and although there is a window and sliding glass door, they are not outdoors providing close supervision (with children ages 2-5). This is a serious licensing safety concern. Finally, screen time is a frequent activity at this site. We expressed our concern after learning one Friday the children watched 2 full length Disney movies, and it was dismissed. These are all things we wish we had known before enrolling. Our boys worked hard to earn the admiration of Misty and frequently expressed fear of her and sadness for the children who often were yelled at/or reprimanded. I'd urge anyone considering this in-home daycare to ask many questions and check in with their child often. Beautiful artwork will come home... and know there may be much more going on throughout the day that you may not approve of.
