When all hope was lost with Infinity Home Solutions out of Turlock, CA, Energy Smart came to the rescue. Professional staff from the office personnel to the reps on the ground. Hands down the best experience with no doubt in my mind that I was getting the best service and a reasonable price. What it took 3 weeks for another company to diagnose and state it was a 2240 dollar repair, Energy Smart took care of it in 4 days at 1/3 of the cost. There are many company's out there trying to make a quick but doing shady business (Infinity Home Solutions in Turlock) , but def isn't Energy Smart. I wanted to provide an update. The owner Willie came out to the house. He ended up replacing the motor. It was another $350. But we have a working cooler. I appreciate that he did come back and finished the job. I am not happy about the total price for repairing the old motor and then still paying for a new one to be installed. FRAUDULENT!! This company sent American Home Shield a totally false report stating, "roof is steep there is no platform on the roof, tech will need platform to diagnose". This is after two tech spent over an hour on the roof and gave me a full diagnosis including manufacturer, part, rough timeframe it would take to fix which was all captured on my Ring VIDEO doorbell. Furthermore, all phone numbers associated with Energy Smart just ring through to a "general mailbox" no company name, nothing. When you click on email link, IT OPENS PORN IN ANOTHER TAB!!!!!!!!! HOW WOULD ANYONE BELIEVE THIS IS A REPUTABLE COMPANY??????? Someone eventually called me from Energy Smart and told me that she spoke with someone at AHS & provided the real report. AHS hasn't updated this and didn't have a record of it when I called. The woman from Energy Smart said the reason I couldn't get in touch with anyone is because I was calling the Fresno, CA number, but when I asked multiple times for the Phoenix contact number, she wouldn't tell me, wouldn't tell me her name, wouldn't tell me the name of the woman she spoke with at AHS, and HUNG UP ON ME. read more

This will be a lengthy review. For starters - I have ZERO issues with the owner himself. He, personally, went above and beyond to ensure he rectified the problem; however, the damage was already done by his employee that there was absolutely no saving our negative experience. That being said, I do not know why they keep their service manager, Johnny, on with their company. He has absolutely no knowledge of what "good customer service" truly is. We initially contacted Energy Smart to come out and run a diagnostic on our unit as it seemed to be struggling. When they got there, they informed us that there was nothing wrong with the duct work or anything in the attic, but that the unit was 25+ years old and had run its course (I found this strange since our home is only 15 years old). Anyway, I called into the office to get information on a new unit and encountered Johnny. He took control over the conversation in a very unprofessional way. Initially, a girl answered the phone and when I started explaining my problem, he took the phone from her and just began speaking to me. Multiple times throughout the conversation he started answering my questions before I could finish asking them (which usually wouldn't be an issue IF he was providing accurate information). Nonetheless, at the time he seemed to know what he was talking about. After explaining to him the size of our home, knowing our location (and the type of heat we get), and his employees seeing the height of our ceilings I had confidence that we were purchasing the correct unit. Boy! Was I completely wrong! After it was installed, it struggled to break 80 degrees on a 93-degree day. After doing some research of my own on the model number of the unit we received and what our home requires I learned that we were sold too small of a unit (we needed at least a 4-ton but got a 3-ton). I called in to confirm exactly what size the unit on our paperwork indicated and never got a definitive answer. I was told a 3-ton by the receptionist and Johnny said we got a 3.5-ton. This call escalated quickly when Johnny told me that for our size home, we would need a 5-ton unit and the whole system would have to be replaced! When I got angry and asked why this information wasn't confirmed when we bought the unit I was met with obnoxiously rude and unprofessional tones and comments by Johnny - who proceeded to hang up me. He even took it a step further and advised everyone in the office that they were no longer allowed to communicate with us, and if we called back, we had to speak to him directly (as if I wanted to ever deal with him again). I reached out to the owner Willy who immediately wanted to fix the problem, thoroughly explained how HVAC systems work, and offered solutions. Ultimately, we chose to receive a refund (less $1,000 for labor costs) and we went through another company. The owner is NOT the problem in this situation - his service manager is 100% the problem! Multiple employees told me while they were at my home that he treats everyone this way and it's really a shame because not only did he lose his employer money, but he also lost his employer positive word of mouth, and he clearly negatively impacts morale in that company. I have learned that a happy customer will tell a handful of people about their positive experience, whereas an unhappy customer will tell anyone they can about their negative experience. It's a shame that people like this are assigned to give their professional opinion (or lack thereof) and treat customers the way he did. We have solar and were over-producing and maintaining a credit balance with PG&E before the "too-small-of-a-unit" was installed on our property, and in the month that we had the incorrect size unit we used almost double the energy and received a bill because the unit was not an adequate size. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this business to anyone. I will most certainly give credit where it is due (to the owner), but outside of that I have no positive comments other than the fact that the technicians were pleasant. However, the quality of the installation lacked: pieces were not insulated properly, loose screws were left behind and incorrect size lines were installed which led to leakage. I was contracted this company through American Home Shield, my home warranty company. My AC was not cooling the house, and the emergency overflow pipe began dripping. Rep came out and looked at my system, saying that we needed a new evaporator and new drip pan. After AHS paid their portion, I still owed $1600 out of pocket. After setting up payment, parts were installed. That was just over a month ago. Here I am sitting in my house with the AC set to 75, yet it's 90 in the house at 10am, with another day that's going to reach over 100 degrees outside. Something wasn't properly fixed, and now it's too far out to fix it under the same claim, so I'm having to make ANOTHER claim through AHS, who are charging me another deductible. read more

Energy Smart came out to look at our heating at the request of Fidelity National Home Warranty. In the end we just paid out of pocket to have our heat repaired because the warranty service was awful and we needed heat like yesterday. Johnny and his team were lifesavers, they came out immediately, explained everything really well and fit us in despite the fact that they were super booked (it was the week of Thanksgiving and the week after that we were trying to get the warranty company to approve the work order). Our heat is working great and we are so glad we decided to fix it outside of the warranty and just dealt directly with the folks at Energy Smart. My AC stopped working during a heat wave. I tried calling several other companies and most were only available mon-fri. This company had one appointment left for the day and When I spoke with AJ on the phone, she was kind enough to give me her direct line so I could call my landlord and get it approved. The service fee/diagnostics fee was one of the cheapest. They arrived at the time they said they would and they got to work right away. Less than 40 min later my AC had its bad parts repaired and working again. I was very pleased with how efficient the technicians were and how professional they were. Highly recommend! read more

I always have a very difficult time getting a hold of any one at the office. On several occasions, I have called after hours and left a detailed message about what services I needed. I have never received a callback. When I did finally get a hold of a receptionist they informed me that they don't return calls on the voicemail and to just call during office hours. They do well to show for their appointments so it seems to be the office staff that isn't reliable. Our AC went out on a Friday night and I did a claim through our home warranty, and Energy Smart was who came out. Monday morning at 7:55, I received a call that they had availability Tuesday from 10-2, so I said yes! I asked if I could be at the top of the list because I have a 2 month old baby and was concerned about another day of no AC with her. I received a text confirming the appointment, a reminder text, a text that the technician was on their way, and at 10 am prompt Tuesday morning, the technician was at my house. He located the problem (starting capacitor was bad), fixed it and advised that I should clean our coils with a water hose because they were fairly dirty. When he left I received a call from Johnny who sounded upset. I was talking to him and asked; what I thought was a simple question when he went off on me. Ridiculous - why would AHS contract with a company that will not go to your AC unit if you have a tile roof. This company needs to be barred from AHS completely. After 4 days, they came to our house (over 100 degree weather - about 90 inside) and proceeded to tell me they will not service the unit because they have to walk across a tile roof and they left. We were patient, waited from Friday til Tuesday (svc scheduling) and then we get this response... At this point, I'm still waiting to hear back from AHS AND on top of that, Energy Smart won't update the svc ticket because they believe I was "mean" to them. Bottom line - they should not be an AHS service contractor and I'm going to file a similar BBB and YELP report on AHS. Now to submit this to BBB. This company left me hot and dry. They will show up for the initial call, and then leave (Italian goodbye style) saying the unit is fixed. You'll turn on the a/c, when it doesn't get cold, they will be gone and won't provide any documentation of what was broken and fixed. They will just say they left the unit working, and then they won't answer phone calls. I don't write poor reviews for companies. I'm not a "let me speak to the manager" person. That said, I'm honestly surprised that this company is still in business. It took 79 days - That's 2 months and 17 days - for them to replace our heater. Our first experience should have been enough to warn us. The technician showed up, was unfamiliar with our thermostat, and promptly broke it. Then he started cursing loudly, visibly upset at his mistake. We all make mistakes. I get it. He says he will fix the thermostat as well when he comes back next time. Well... "next time" nobody showed up. Not a call that they'd be late, not a call asking to reschedule, just nothing. And of course I had taken the day off of work to be there. So I have to call in and ask what's happening. Never at any point did someone answer the phone the first time I called them. Not once. I would have to call at least 2 times if I was lucky before someone would pick up the phone. If I left a voicemail, I wouldn't get called back. I will point out, my Fiancé did get a call back a couple days later when she left a voicemail once, so there's that. Anyway, the next appointment gets scheduled, and the guys show up - completely unaware that the thermostat had been broken. The first tech had not notified the company or ordered another thermostat to replace it. These two guys were nice and thankfully believed me, due to the grimy fingerprints all over the thermostat and a strange request for a transformer that we assumed he meant to use to fix the thermostat on the low. Anyway, these guys tell us that the heater needs to be completely replaced and they can't fix it and we need to schedule another appointment. So here comes the next adventure. Of course for this next appointment, they need to be payed ahead of time for work not covered by the warranty. So after paying, the appointment is scheduled and I have taken another day off of work. Which means... yup. They didn't show up. Again. Not a phone call saying we can't make it, not a request to reschedule, nothing. And this is after we've already paid for the service. Thankfully this is where we meet AJ. She is from the Visalia store and was the only member of either office staff who actually talked to us like we were human beings. She was very nice and tried her best to make us feel like we weren't in the middle of a scam. She got our next appointment scheduled for us quicker than anything in the past (of course it was still a week away, I obviously wasn't going to take a third day off of work at this point). Of course when the technicians show up... they can't replace the furnace, because there is a small board in the way. (There are 4 small boards that make a square at the entrance of almost every attic preventing the insulation from falling out.) Even though this hadn't been mentioned as a problem by the other techs that had already assessed the situation. They said we'd have to pay for a framer to come out and remedy the situation. I know. Alright. So we get a framer to come out. He actually laughs and asks if we're serious when we show him what they told us to do. He gets a hammer and removes the board in about 25 seconds, asking why Energy Smart couldn't have done this on their own. (I was out of town when the techs were last there and had no idea that THIS was why we had needed a framer). Ok so we've finally got everything ready to go. And of course now the techs can't come out because - the unit that was meant for us had gotten shipped to Sacramento instead... So now we're waiting again. Eventually, the techs (and Michael, the supervisor who was a nice guy) get the right equipment and get everything installed. And now we've got heat. In summary, there was a couple nice people in a company that seems overrun with people that don't want to do their job. They took $200 off our $1600 worth of extra fees and paid for the $175 thermostat that they had broken. Does that make up for the months of increased PG&E bills due to us using space heaters to stay warm, sleeping in hoodies (during 35 degree weather sometimes), getting sick, missing work, no apologies from the regular office staff when they failed to meet their obligations (Zoe and Dalia), the techs cursing in our home? Probably not, but I'm actually surprised we even got anything back, so I'll take it. The few people trying to help did just enough to keep us in their grasp, thinking that we were always only one step away from getting heat again. It felt like a typical scam where they give you just enough to keep you from leaving. Overall it was just a poor experience. It just beat us down. It was sad really. So ya, stay away. read more

Our AC went out on Friday 8pm so in called AHS and was assigned Energy Smart. Due to the time and Energy Smart's posted business hours i did not expect a call from them until Monday at the earliest. I was pleasantly surprised when the called me around 9:30 on Saturday to schedule an appointment for Monday 2-4pm! On Monday Steve their tech even was able to get to the house an hour earlier. Steve had the issue diagnosed quickly and the fix applied. He even tested the system to ensure nothing else was hidden from the first diagnoses. All in all a great experience in my book. I've been without air for three weeks. My home warranty company finally got wise and dispatched Energy Smart Engineering to take over the work order after two other HVAC companies came out to the home. Upon notification from my home warranty company, I called Energy Smart to schedule an appointment and AJ in their office was able to get a technician out to my house a mere two hours later! HVAC technician Tim came to my door masked up in the 102 temp and was polite and professional -- even in this heat. Tim's assessment indicated my dual pak unit on the roof will need to be replaced which confirms the recommendation of the previous HVAC company that looked at my unit. We got a competitive bid here on Yelp from Energy Smart to service our older AC and heater units in our single family home. They had not been serviced since 2018 but were working fine. They came out on shecdule and cleaned everything up and tested the coolant pressure etc. There was one part that was showing wear on the AC, Willy explained the issue and showed us the difference from a new part so we could understand why it should be replaced preventitively so we did that as well. About 4 weeks ago, the AC went out in our rental home. Unfortunate, but not the end of the world. I called my landlord and he scheduled EnergySmart to come out to try to fix the problem. This is where the issues began.... The first gentleman came out, told us we had a "busted blower" and that he would be back to fix it later that day. Well he never showed back up. We called him directly and he said that he will be there 8am the next day to replace the blower. 11am comes by and no technician. We call again and he, word for word, tells us that hes, "not coming out today, it's too hot." Then he went total AWOL. Phone calls to him went straight to voicemail, and his company covered for him every time citing it's a busy time of year. I understand that, but that's not the issue here. We call the landlord back and he calls the company again. They agree to send a new technician the following week. That gentleman shows up, checks connections, tells us that, "everything looks good," manually turns on the AC from the attic access, then leaves. We didnt know any better, so we thought it was all fixed. It worked for about 1.5 hours; just enough to get the house below 90 degrees. Que more phone calls. The next day, the apparent "service manager" who they assured us will fix the issue agrees to come out. He shows up, tells us the blower is broken - like we didnt know already- and that HE will come back the NEXT DAY, at 8AM again, to replace it. I'm already mad because of the first technician, but I give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Next day comes by, and guess what, no service manager. A few hours past 8am, he calls us and says he going to send another technician but they wont be available till the end of the week. At this point it's been 3 weeks of no AC. My landlord's hands are tied because this is the company that the home warranty contracted with, so finding a new company is a difficult task. My career has taught me to have a lot of patience with certain types of people, but our house has been an average of 95 degrees since the AC went out, so I'm starting to lose all patience I thought I had. Until the new technician showed up, a week later, we were completely out of AC. We purchased 4 different standing fans and would focus them directly on us as we slept; which averaged 2 hours a night. When he showed up, he actually had the new blower. He replaced it and two hours later, the AC turned back on....for 5 minutes. I was over this company. I told them the issue, they said I'd have to call back to schedule a new appointment. No apologies, no attempt at compensation, just a rude customer service rep that sounded too busy to be bothered by a paying customer. I told them I would be seeking out a new AC repair company because they're customer service, work ethic, and employee quality is utterly unacceptable. The customer service rep responded with, "No problem," and promptly hung up. This company treated me, my fiance, and our landlord so poorly that every time I see one of the EnergySmart service vans parked in front of a house, I will go tell my story to the owner of said residence. This needs to be told to the public. This company should not be allowed to conduct business like this. Oh and after that last phone call, my landlord go ahold of a new AC company. They arrived the next morning, two hours ahead of schedule, and told me I needed a whole new AC unit. Bittersweet news, but we now have a scheduled date this week to get the entire system torn out and replaced. No thanks to EnergySmart. Avoid at all costs. read more

Loved that the workers were wearing masks especially since I have lupus. This was the second Hvac company we had come out to the house. AJ listened and heard all my concerns regarding safety and communication. The whole experience was exceptional. The workers were professional and friendly. Had Energy Smart techs out for a residential AC issue numerous times over four months. They changed circuit boards, AC unit, wiring, ducts & thermostat (basically the entire system) but never resolved issue. Got to the point where the manager was beginning to take an accusatory tone that I was trying to scam them. Called out another company (with a bigger name) and the tech solved the issue (a couple of settings on the AC unit) within 20 mins. They also pointed out a couple of flaws with e-smart's AC install that needed addressing. They did say e-smart's duct job looked good. E-smart's techs were all very friendly, hard workers and the manager gave me some price breaks but seems like they need more extensive training. Sorry guys, two stars. read more

I used them through home warranty It took them 5 trips to get my air fixed .All of the tech's were very nice as was the office staff But the service manager was more then happy to yell and argue when anything was questioned.They replaced my air coil and they had to come back as they had under filled the freon Johnny said on 2 occasions he would come out to make sure the work was done correctly himself and never showed up.2 month's after they worked on my unit it went out,There was so much Leak lock used by this company that the new company was unable to add freon and recheck and diagnose the unit. read more

DO NOT LET THEM FIX YOUR AIR. WORSE COMPANY EVER. The guy came to look at it and said he was going to place the order for the part the same night. We called the office and he didn't place the order or go into work that day. So he clearly doesn't care about his job. Let me remind you. It's a 100 degrees outside. So I could've gotten a heat stroke. But they don't care. So took them a week and a half to get the part and come back out. So a different guy comes and then tell us "I don't know how to fix it or put the part in." So the hire incompetent workers that do not know what they are doing? Interesting. He said he would send someone out the same day. Never happened. Had to wait 2 more days. No big deal. But their customer service is horrible. They don't prioritize so you just have to suffer a week without air conditioning until you bug them enough to come back out. But here's the best part. After talking to the manager. He was like there's nothing we can do. You're the manager. So it makes sense that your employees don't wanna come to work when you don't care as well. So they put the part in. And now the air barely comes out. So I think the messed it up or don't know what they're doing. So I wouldn't RECOMMEND them to anyone. Look else where. Or just suffer like we did for a week and a half later to have the air barely work while it's over a 100 degrees outside. read more

I was having issues with my upstairs AC unit not cooling, so I made an appointment with Energy Smart. They scheduling process was easy and they accommodated the times I was available. They will text you a confirmation for your scheduled appointment and when they are close to your home. I met Frank and Randy who were very courteous and they assessed the problem quickly. They replaced the compressor which was the issue and informed me that I will need Freon in the future. Since my appointment was scheduled during the winter season they recommended that I just wait to replace it closer to summer when I start using the AC. Overall, I was very satisfied with this company and would recommend them to my family and friends. I will defined use them for future issues that may arise. read more

Wow, where do I begin!? Let's start from the time we called our American Home Shield Co. on Sept. 11th with regards our central cooling and heating furnace not working. Next day we get a call from Energy Smart and they come out Friday, Sept 14th to take a look after I describe to them what has happened.They proceed to do their thing- a diagnostics trouble shooting procedure -and check it out. I was told that it was a bad blower motor in the furnace and that they will take it out and replace it with the exact spec new motor. All this is done late Friday morning and finished by I believe, by 12 noon. Turns out that that was not the problem at all. I can hear them make a call up there and were told to check further(I assumed they did not do a full diagnostics to check for the real issue). Turns out it was a bad control unit board. There was a piece on the board that had an obvious burnt section that was shown to me through the techs cell phone pic that he had taken. Hmm, shouldn't that have been checked first? So they pack up and tell me that they will call it in to their office and report to AHS for approval on the control board. I was bummed about that. But, hey, we at least got a new blower motor out of it as I was told by the tech. Hmm? That I did not appreciate. Moving on to next week. Sept. 17th & 18th. We have heard nothing back from Energy Smart's office regarding any update nor from our American Home Sheild. So I make a call mid afternoon Tuesday the 18th to get an update from AHS to be told that Energy Smart has not contacted them yet with what the problem was. AHS calls them for a follow up after I get off the phone with them that day. So we patiently wait for a call back Wednesday, Sept. 19th. No call yet(Yes, we were upset for the lack of communication on the part of AHS too. This was addressed and has been taken care of) from either party by the end of the day. So we call AHS again on the 21st of this month. At this point we need them to know we are concerned as to why Energy Smart is taking so long? Meanwhile, Energy Smart are across the street at our neighbors for a problem. Weather they have AHS as well, we do not know. But it turns out that AHS has been waiting for Energy Smart to turn in some sort of needed sheet report that AHS needs in order to proceed with an approval. Energy Smart has not turned that in after all this time which is holding this all up. Which brings us to today, Monday, September 24, 2018. Energy Smart is in our neighborhood again, across the street at our neighbors to finish up with what ever the problem was on their first visit from last week on Friday, Sept. 21st! Now, I'm glad other people, by the reviews I have read have had some pretty good experiences. Others have not. It makes me wonder if we are being disregarded and treated differently by Energy Smart due to the fact that we have a company such American Home Shield? Either way you look at it, we are still potential customers. For Energy Smart dropping the ball on their end and not executing this fast enough nor in a timely manner is pretty incompetent. I own a small, personal business and have attained business in such a manner in the past like Energy Smart. I never treated any customer nor an account any different due to how the business came my way. If Energy Smart is putting us off because we go through a company such as AHS. Then all I can say is get out of it if you don't like it. However, you signed on to get work from them and the least you can do is follow through with your commitment and to treat any customer as your next potential customer. So far, all you have done for us is to give and warn people of your lack of professionalism and self integrity in how you do business. At this point we feel we can not trust you. Especially with how it all started with the replacement of the blower motor. That was a red flag for us and we hope that the rest goes well. But, you have definitely left us with a horrible first time experience and impression! *Update as of today Called our AHS, Home Warranty Co. twice today. The second time we went to a higher source. They have been trying to contact Energy Smart with no success. We were even put on hold while they called and still no one answering from Energy Smart. Great news is that we don't have to worry about them any longer as our Home Warranty has taken care of us by another means far better than dealing with Energy Smart! 2nd, we will get to file a complaint against them and 3rd, we have been encouraged by Energy Smart to spread this horrible experience to as many of our contacts as possible and who in turn will spread it further for us. read more

I had an issue with my floor furnace back in February of 2018 and had two other contractors out to my house before Energy Smart was assigned by American Home Shield. Through no fault of their own, Energy Smart was not able to get approval through AHS to complete the repair. AHS continued on to assign 3 more contractors. Each one of them recommended that the floor furnace needed to be replaced but they didnt want to do it... they finally cashed me out for the cost and the check arrived today - June 22nd. The reason I am writing this review is because of all the contractors I went through, Energy Smart was the most professional, willing to help and timely. They were clean, prompt and easy to talk with and get explanations. I would highly recommend them and based on other feedback on YELP, I cant agree more. Do not hesitate to call them! read more
