Short version: Great massage! DeVeer was professional, knowledgeable and the whole experience was wonderfully relaxing. Longer Version: I've been thinking for a while that a massage would be helpful in relaxing and removing the tension that builds up with my daily computer and desk work. After surfing around, I found "The Massage Artist" DeVeer Chappell. There wasn't much info on the internet about his business (which I learned is because his current location and set-up are fairly new for him, though he's been a LMBT for a bit) and I decided to give it a try. I set up my appointment through the online booking system, which I found very convenient. I actually had to re-schedule my original appointment due to a last-minute trip but the system was easy to use with automatic confirmation and reminder emails. I adore when businesses have online booking, so this is a serious plus for me. I arrived and was welcomed within 2 or 3 minutes by DeVeer who walked me back to the massage room. He asked why I was there, if I had any problem areas and listened carefully to my answers. During the massage he chatted a little at first, I think to let me know that if I wanted to talk I was free too, but he let the conversation fade when I trailed off into relaxation mode. I found his style - a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue to be delightful as it allowed him to concentrate on specific areas and knots in my back/shoulders but not ignore everywhere else. He was professional and knowledgeable the whole time, occasionally asking questions or requesting that I move one way or another so that the massage could continue and I was able to completely relax which was exactly what I needed. The background music was good, not too loud and went well with the atmosphere. Once my appointment was finished, he gave me ample time to regroup and redress and was courteous and businesslike when I was on my way out and paying. Overall it was a great experience and I will certainly be back again! Tip: As someone briefly mentioned on a different site, the place is slightly hard to find. This is because it appears for a sec that you can't go any further on Faringdon Pl., but keep going into the entrance of "North Bend Office Park" at the end of the cul-de-sac (the sign is low and on the left). It looks more like a row of townhouses than an office park, but you're in the right place. DeVeer's space is located in the row to your left when you enter, about 2/3 the way down. The buildings/doors have very visible numbers so once you're in the complex it's easy to figure out. Once inside, go in the door on the left for "Oasis Beauty Boutique" and you're there. read more

I am elated to say I was extremely impressed with DeVeer. I bought my massage off LivingSocial and wasn't sure what to expect since he didn't have too many Yelp reviews. He has installed an online booking tool in order to sign up for appointments. He fills up quickly, so be sure to sign up asap if you are redeeming a voucher. I learned after my massage that he only holds a certain number of spots each week for vouchers, so he has more availability the second time you book. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find his space in a row of townhomes-turned-business-park. His space was clean and provided a relaxed and calm atmosphere. First, I filled out a form and talked to him about any pain I was feeling and talked to him about where I wanted him to focus. He was both professional and attentive throughout the hour-long massage. Soothing music played in the background while I enjoyed an hour of bliss. I feel like I got the bang for buck with DeVeer. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, the Massage Artist is a little bit difficult to find, since his office is in a small office park that appears to be a set of town homes. This was my first massage ever. I found him through a Groupon voucher and had read good reviews. I arrived a few minutes early, and DeVeer greeted me inside the waiting room. He ushered me into a back room with dim lighting and "relaxing music" (think woodwinds and plunky sitar). I filled out an information sheet which asked me about my prior massage experiences, workout routine and what areas I would like to focus on (by way of a diagram of the human body). I told him that I have had recurrent tension in my shoulders and neck. He came up with a recommended plan for the 60-minute massage that allowed for a focus on the shoulders and neck. He was very receptive to everything that I mentioned on the sheet. He ran me through how a typical massage would go and how he suggested this one should go for me. The massage itself was phenomenal. In addition to focusing on my neck and shoulders, he also massaged my arms. I couldn't believe how quickly the whole hour went by! There were no issues with the Groupon redemption (he was able to "mark as redeemed" right on my smartphone) and I tipped him in cash. I am not sure about his other payment options. Like others' reviews, I agree DeVeer is awesome! Bought a Groupon and didn't set high expectations (most Groupon places are a bit sketchy), but not Energy in Motion. The office is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Yes, the location is in an office park that look likes town-homes, but it is occupied by other professional businesses, so nothing out of the ordinary for a small local business owner. The massage itself was great! DeVeer asked questions prior to the session, suggested a plan to address my needs, and worked on me like we discussed. He is definitely a professional who knows his craft and makes you feel at ease. I left the appointment feeling relaxed and with less muscle tension... Can't wait to go back for another session! If you want to support local small businesses, you should definitely give DeVeer a try. He does get booked very quickly, but he is very flexible and works with your schedule in addition to his regular appointment slots. Just email him! Keep in mind he's a small business owner, so he doesn't have a receptionist to answer calls/make appointments... I personally appreciate him not taking calls during my session, and I think others would feel the same. Like I said, he's super responsive via email. I was a bit skeptical purchasing a voucher for anything, let alone for a massage, but while on Groupon I came across a voucher for the Massage Artist. What the heck, I bought it, and lo, a month and a half later, I decided to go and get a massage on my day off from work. I had a little trouble finding the place. DeVeer's office is located in "North Bend Office Park" building 5856. Look for the Oasis Boutique sign in the door. But eventually I found it. When I walked into the seating area, I was greeted by DeVeer in a matter of seconds. He had me fill out a form, my contact info, problem areas, and afterwards we talked a little about what areas I wanted him to focus on, so on and so forth. The. Massage. Was. AMAZING. In the beginning, he was just asking simple questions like if the pressure was too much, etc. but after awhile the conversation faded and I slipped into total relaxation. DeVeer really took into consideration what areas I needed more pressure, and let's just say I recall dozing off for a few minutes! Overall, my massage was very personalized to suit what I needed. DeVeer was very professional, and he is just amazing at what he does! After the massage, I was given plenty of time to get dressed, and he was sitting in the lobby waiting for me. On your first visit, you might not find it to be the easiest place to find. It's not a fancy spa but it's neat, clean and most importantly it is the best massage I have had. I've tried plenty of different places over the years. I've been to DeVeer twice now and see no reason to ever go anywhere else. When I leave I'm relaxed, refreshed and pain free. DeVeer does a great job listening to your concerns and focusing the massage on your problem areas. I can't recommend him highly enough. Try it out for yourself!! read more
