I went to the Endo Care in Pleasanton. I couldn't find the Pleasanton location so writing the review here. Dr. Rezai was SUPER! - and so was his team at the Pleasanton location. This was my first root canal and hopefully my last. I was soooo dreading going into this appt but it was actually very uneventful and easier than previous experiences getting a filling. I am a mom and oddly, it was relaxing to sit in the chair and get work done. I guess you can consider this a form of 'self-care' and me-time. :-D. read more

after i arrived, the forms i was asked to sign included costs which were not approved. re-printed. the dr was thorough...recommended a root canal...said he was ordering antibiotics and pain medicine, i got to Kaiser and only the antibiotics were ordered...i called the office twice, the first time the person answering the phone said the dr was "doing that now"...sometime later i called back and was told the dr was with a patient and it would be "a few minutes"...turns out he moved on to another patient. two hours at the pharmacy only to find out that the prescription for pain medication was canceled...then Kaiser auto-called when i got home to update my prescriptions....only one remaining and it was canceled. tonight i'm back to Tylenol. unprofessional and lacking compassion. read more

I never thought I'd give 5 stars to the office I got a root canal at but they are the best here! I had my first (hopefully last!) root canal done here and they got me in quickly, everyone there was professional and the procedure was fairly quick and painless. They followed up the next day to check on me and I highly recommend Endo Care! read more

I was referred here by my dentist. I never had such a bad experience getting a root canal. My issues is more with the dental assistant. She was not friendly and in my opinion terrible at her job. Skipping to the procedure were I was practically chocking on my own spit the whole time. The Doctor repeatedly had to tell her to suck the saliva out of my mouth. This is where it got kinda scary, I was left in the room my jaw hurting, my mouth was held open and there was hardware left in my mouth. I was in the room alone for 10 to 15 mins, Laying on my back gaging on spit with no dental assistance in sight. I finally had to make a loud noise to get someone's attention. I caught a glimpse of the dental assistant and notice she was texting on her phone while I'm choking on spit, it was so bad my sinuses started to clog. Shortly after the doctor comes back in to finish up. I just wanted this nightmare to end. I felt tension between her and the doctor. Not sure what was going on but it was all bad vibes in that office. I ended up swallowing so much spit when I got home I felt sick and I threw up. Plus now my sinuses are all messed up and I can't breathe. I know root canals suck and this is not my first rodeo but this experience was by far the work dental experience I have ever had. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of needing 3 urgent root canals after 2 years of avoiding my dentist. He referred me to Dr. Yasaman Ravandoust, and I'm so happy he did. I had a lot of fears about the procedure, but she explained everything very well and performed the work quickly and gently. If I ever need another root canal, this is where I will come. Dr. Yassi is the best! I unfortunately inherited the terrible teeth gene and I've had to get 3 root canals over the past 5 years. Dr. Yassi performed a retreatment on a root canal from my teenage years done by another endodontist plus two additional root canals. I will never go anywhere else for this type of procedure (fingers crossed I won't need another one though!) I traveled 2 hours to this office since moving to Sacramento. I also have a history of not being able to numb for dental procedures and she was able to numb me no problem, I didn't feel a thing... I think I almost even took a nap. Had a root canal done there and it was super unnecessarily painful. Hurt not because the nature of root canal but because the doctor did not care. There was a hot tool being used in my mouth and she asked me to raise my hand if it hurts. After enduring for as long as I could, at one point I HAD to raised my hand, but to my surprise, she told me to not move. Now, I don't know if this hot tool could avoid being resting on my lips for an extended amount of time, but she did not care even if she didn't need to. As if to punish me, she commented "This is what happens when you don't open your mouth wider". Well, that just sounded like she was burning me on purpose because I couldn't read her mind. That is something one's mother would say to her child, not a dentist to a patient. The poor bedside manner was disconcerting, but I understand that she might not care, as root canal procedures probably isn't a repeating business for most customers. My dentist has a relationship with this practice so he recommended me, but I do not recommend anyone else to this place. read more

This review is strictly limited to cost of consultation. My dentist referred me to Dr. Ravandoust for evaluation and possible retreatment. Upon confirmation of the appointment I was told that the cost of consultation would be $500. I indicated that I didn't have dental insurance and would be paying out of pocket, and was told that I can get a discount of $130 or $160 (I don't remember the exact amount) so the cost would be more than $300. I though that must be the going rate. Unrelated to the cost, I read reviews to decide which endodontist to use, and decided on Alameda-Oakland Endodonics, which had great reviews. When I called the group to make an appointment I was surprised to be quoted $200 for consultation, without any special discount. read more

I had one of the worst dental care experiences of my life at EndoCare. I felt hustled, as if I were buying a used car, and the goal was to separate me from my money as smoothly as possible. Interactions with the staff seemed designed to limit my ability to make informed medical and financial decisions. I have never felt so traumatized in a medical facility, as I did at EndoCare. Upon arriving to my appointment, I was asked to fill out some paperwork and was brought back into the procedure room. Dr. Dadvand was the attending doctor. I was immediately uncomfortable with her bedside manner. I was treated like a number in her docket of appointments. I was reclined in the chair and had a bib and sunglasses put on my. I was then administered several shots of novocaine. Both of the injections were incredibly painful. Subsequently, I was in a traumatized and altered state from the numbness, pain and medication. My situation was complicated by an abscess below the tooth. And Dr Dadvand mentioned that she wanted to wait for the abscess to heal before finalizing the procedure. There was no discussion of the financial implications of such a plan, and I was under the impression that I was still having a standard root canal. After the shots Dadvand left the room and one of the receptionists entered saying, "This is your cost", and had me sign a handful of papers. By this time I had lost much of my cognitive capacity. I was traumatized by the unusually painful injection and could not feel half of my face. I still had the dark glasses on and could not even see the paperwork clearly. There was no discussion of costs with the now absent Dadvand. And no attempt was made to assist me in understanding the financial ramifications of the situation. Nor was I in a clear enough state of mind to ask the right questions. Once the receptionist had my signatures, she left, and the absent Dr. Dadvand was suddenly back in the room to carry out the procedure. I was given consciousness altering drugs and then asked to sign forms authorizing an increase in treatment cost while in a cognitively challenged state. Really? Later I realized I had authorized a $850 cost increase, I felt like I had been date-raped. Even the next day follow-up call from the receptionist was pretty lame. She asked how I was doing - but had only one response in her repertoire - no matter what I said. "Oh, I'm sorry" was her canned response. I told her that I'd never had a root canal before, so I didn't really have any thing to compare my experience to. Her response, "Oh, I'm sorry". Did she actually hear anything that I had said? I could almost see her filing her nails and snapping her gum as she read through her script. A couple weeks later, I had the second part of the procedure performed at their Alameda office with Dr. Shinbori. I was more comfortable with Dr. Shinbori who had a more personable manner. But unfortunately for me, the same sequence of events unfolded. I was taken into a private room, bibbed, sunglassed, and given multiple shots of novocaine. Once again, in an altered, vulnerable state, with my face completely numb, the doctor again left the room and the receptionist came in to have me sign financial and consent forms while I was in a cognitively challenged state. I am disturbed by this established set of office protocols. After being injected with drugs and put into a compromised and vulnerable state, the doctor leaves the room while the receptionist comes in and presses me to sign financial documents. Did they learn this at a Guantanamo Bay sales workshop? What if upon reading the forms, I decided that I did not want to go through with the procedure? Unfortunately, multiple injections of novocaine have already been administered, and the procedure has been initiated. I was subjected to this sequence of events not once, but twice, so it was not just a bad day at the office. At best, this is a disturbing oversight of my right to make thoughtful financial decisions. At worst, the protocol actually seemed designed to limit my ability to make thoughtful decisions. When I wrote a letter and sent an email to the office describing my experience, the response was pathetic. Their "Practice Manager" responded with a voicemail saying she would be out of town for a week and would mail a reply. A few days later I received a bundle of photocopied bills and forms and nothing else. There was no indication that any of my concerns regarding their ethically questionable protocols had been heard at all. I understand that there is a way to handle scope and cost changes that takes care of a client and supports thoughtful medical decisions. Unfortunately I did not receive such care or consideration at EndoCare. read more

I had a totally horrendous experience with Sahar Dadvand. Never before in my life has a visit to a doctor's office left me feeling as if wandered into a used-car dealership, or an unscrupulous mechanic's shop, instead. I was left angry and perplexed by "Doctor" Dadvand's appalling, naked greed and brash efforts to squeeze as much money out of my pockets as possible, by relentlessly shoving unnecessary diagnostic and treatment options down my throat. Moreover, the experience caused me to question the legitimacy, and lose faith in, Yelp!'s ratings and reviews. Judging by my experience, while admitting that 1 doesn't make a trend, the stellar rating this office has is totally undeserved. I came to Endocare's Oakland office after consulting with another endodontist. As it turned out, I've had a tooth infection that went undetected for years, and now the infection spread to the jawbone (normally I wouldn't divulge such personal/medical info, but I'm doing so to highlight that my issue is more than just cosmetic). I had an x-ray image that clearly showed the infection and its extent, what needed to be done (root-canal, and maybe surgery down the road), and the complete background story of what happened to the tooth to get it to this state. I shared both with endo-care in an email that I sent to them a couple of days before my appointment. Moreover, I re-iterated the information to Sahar's assistant, who then relayed it to her. Slam-dunk case, and all the "Dr." had to do-if she didn't' disagree with the diagnosis-was to schedule the root-canal procedure. Not so easy. She felt the need to do another x-ray image, although the one I brought was less than 2 months old, and 100% showed what the issue is. Basically, she subjected me to an unnecessary dose of radiation just get more money out of me for that visit. But she did not stop there, oh no. Apparently, the 100% clarity of the x-ray I provided, and the one she unnecessarily took, was insufficient: She wanted to be 1000% sure and required that I do CT-scan, $200 out of pocket, before she could do the root-canal! Wait, there is more! A side-effect of the chronic infection is a minor tooth-discoloration, which she said could be treated by bleaching the tooth, in two-separate visits. Three times I said "no thanks," but she kept bringing it up. After finishing up with her, and while I was getting the treatment-plan estimate from the lady at the front-desk, Sahar's assistant came running and breathlessly asked her to still add the charges for the tooth bleaching treatment! Unbelievable!! Finally, to add insult to injury, "Dr." Sahar asked me to schedule the root canal procedure in the Orinda office because that was more convenient for her, with utter and oblivious disregard to how convenient that was for me, the patient who happened to be driving all the way from Redwood City. Note: The treatment plan I walked out with had another patient's name, and I had to go back to the front-desk lady to double-check if I received the correct plan. However, that was an honest mistake that I did not mind too much, as stuff like this happen. Suffice it to say, I will never do business with Endocare again, and they should be ashamed of the reprehensible behavior of their so-called doctor. read more

I called Dr. Rezai at 1 pm and he had me in at 4pm the same day for a out of control infection, unlike other endos who scheduled my emergency into their calendar at a later date. It seemed he and his office really took his patients welfare seriously. When I met him and he had very personable and professional demeanor. He didn't ask me a bunch of questions about my personal life and pretend to be my best friend on our first meeting which i found refreshingly genuine. I asked if he could accommodate not stretching too much during the procedure which despite some apprehensions, he did quite easily and was always conscious of it. I think because of his skill level and experience he was able to do so where others with less experience may have had a problem in doing so. The procedure itself was painless and relatively quick and I could tell he was a master of his trade as he worked. He also noticed an open margin on my crown, and proceeded to remove the crown and underlying decay despite the already later hour because he considered it the right thing to do medically. Again, putting the patient as his foremost concern. He also saw that my gum had been trapped and glued under the crown, relieving an 8 month unknown cause of pain. His assistant Archie was also very pleasant during the procedure. Also, his office did accept my Dental insurance, and his prices were very reasonable. I had called around and some established endos are out of network to most insurance because they don't want to be bound to the insurance price limits. Again, it seems that his primary purpose is about helping people. I've had more teeth issues than 99% of the population and have been to a lot of dentists and specialists, but Dr. Rezai is the best of the best. read more

This review is for Dr. Dadvand and the friendly staff at Endocare in Oakland - although the staff at all three locations are wonderful. Dr. Dadvand treated me for an emergency root canal. She was available on a Saturday for an eval and performed the surgery the following business day. When I told her about my anxiety in the dentist chair, we talked about it, and she assured me I need not worry about taking "however many breaks as I needed." She's calm, patient, kind, and very thorough. What impressed me the most about Dr. Dadvand, is her follow-up and post-procedure availability. I had post-op discomfort for about a week (as I usually do) and she checked in with me DAILY. Also, a permanent crown just happened to fall off on a tooth totally unrelated to the root canaled tooth and she hooked me up on a Saturday with Endocare in Alameda to have it cemented back on. There were some issues regarding my tooth and "Dr Yasi" thoroughly explained our options and the pros and cons of each choice. I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. I highly recommend both Dr. "Yasi" and the dental assistants. The office staff is professional, compassionate, and friendly. Dr. Yasaman Ravandoust was amazing and so kind! My General Dentist referred me to a different endodontist but the earliest appointment I could get was 3 weeks from now and I was already experiencing quite a bit of pain for the past four days. Last night the pain was unbearable despite taking 400mg of ibruprofen and applying some benzocaine so I knew I had to get treatment asap. Luckily after calling three different places, Endo Care in Oakland was able to accommodate me the same day with Dr. Yasaman for root canal treatment. I had the same procedure done before many years ago and remember it being a much longer and more painful process (also expensive) but everything about today's experience was great so it made the cost worth it. I couldn't imagine being in pain any longer. They said they would give me a call tomorrow to check to see how I'm feeling, how thoughtful. I was given a quote/estimate for today's visit after scheduling the appointment via phone and also again during check-in so I knew what to expect. There's been great communication from the staff and doctor and I felt safe during the entire process. Highly recommend Endo Care Group in Oakland and Dr. Yasaman! read more

I was very impressed with the calm patience and persistence that Dr. Shinbori had in locating and working on the very calcified root and enjoyed talking with her dental assistants Felicia and Angel. Wow, I can't believe I'm going to post that I actually enjoyed my root canal that Dr Yasaman Ravandoust beautifully dentified on me today. She was so attentive and personable, it was refreshing . She explained everything , made sure I was as comfortable as could be, and got to work. The entire office was helpful , giving me a 10% on my dental bill as I don't have insurance. I was nervous and somewhat scared to have to leave my fantastic dentist at Green dental Dr Shaya Hamid, but Dr Ravandoust was the best I could have asked for when dealing with endo care. Need a root canal? I give this place my highest recommendation! I chose Endo Care Group based only on its Oakland location, but I had such a good experience that I decided to write a review. Root canals are uncomfortable procedures, but the care I received from Dr. Sahar Dadvand and her support team was fantastic. She took the time to explain what was about to happen, which I appreciated. She had just the right amount of communication with me throughout the procedure - she knew just when I needed a little more pain relief, and just when I felt like I needed a break, by reading my body language and the look on my face. Dr. Yasi Ravandoust did my root canal and she's absolutely amazing. When the permanent one was put in, i didn't even need a single pain killer. Really didn't feel like anything had been done in my mouth at all. It was easier than a filling. She's also fantastic at communicating what she's doing, why she's doing it, and what's happening next. I went in for another root canal yesterday. My teeth just are sensitive smh. I was super scared even though I had done this before. I was seeing doctor Shinbori. This time I got the laughing gas which was suggested by my doctors assistant. I have to say this was a get suggestion! I highly recommend it! But even more the doctor and assistant are a test team. Endocare is very clean staff is very friendly. I was seen by dr dadvand she is awesome very sweet and gentle and makes you feel so comfortable. They play you music that you would enjoy hearing during your procedure. Dr dadvand did a great job on my root canal i didn't feel a thing and the healing process was pretty good not too painful. First let me start by saying I rarely write a review on Yelp. To my dismay my dentist in Jacksonville Florida told me that I needed 2 root canals. He gave me referrals to 3 Endodontist and none of them were in the network of my insurance. No problem so I thought. I will just search my insurance directory to find an Endodontist and cross check what I find with Yelp to narrow my search. That process turned up Endodontist that had terrible Yelp reviews in Jacksonville. Since I had a week-long trip to Oakland planned, I did the same search and found EndoCare. After reading several 5 star reviews on Dr. Sahar Dadvand, I knew where I wanted to get my root canals done. I walked into EndoCare in Oakland on Monday to get the process started. After confirming with the Oakland office that they will accept my insurance, I was told that they can see me the next day in Orinda with Dr. Dadvand. I told the receptionist that I was hoping I could get an appointment with Dr. Dadvand because I had read she was an Angel on Yelp. Fast forward to the next day in Orinda. I arrived at the office which was very clean and was greeted by Deb the Office Manager. Once I was in the exam chair I met Dr. Sahar Dadvand. I told her that I was there because I read on Yelp that she has Angel Hands and was the best in the business. She smiled and said that I made her day. Dr. Dadvand confirmed that I did need 2 root canals and that I will need to return on Thursday to complete the second root canal. Dr. Dadvand told me that the worst part was going to be the shots to numb the area and she was right. The only pain I had was the shots and that was over in less than a minute. There were two dental assistants that took several x-rays throughout the process. After the first tooth was complete, Dr. Dadvand asked if I could go longer or did I want to return on Thursday to complete the other tooth. Since I had no discomfort, I told her to go ahead and finish. 3 hours after I started, I had 2 root canals done. No pain (except the shots) at all during the entire process. I can confirm that Dr. Dadvand indeed has Angel Hands and if you need an Endodontist, look no further than Dr. Dadvand. read more

I wanted to write about a wonderful experience I just had at Endo Care Group in Oakland. I had an emergency situation when a crown I had broke in half while I was flossing. My primary Dentist was off on vacation but had left the name of Endo Care as the emergency contact. I called and spoke to Stephanie. She listened to my situation, and was very helpful in finding a time around my work schedule when I could come into the office despite the short notice of the situation. I really appreciated her help. During my appointment, Dr. Shinbori and her assistant Valerie were constantly checking to make sure I was comfortable. They made me feel totally at ease about a situation I kind of was dreading to have to deal with. Dr. Shinbori tested the area to make sure my nerve was still intact and was kind to go slow and warn me if she was going to do something that might cause pain. She made me a temporary crown and took time to make sure that the fit was perfect. Her attention to detail was very impressive. The whole experience was great and I would highly recommend Endo Care Oakland and especially Dr. Shinbori, Valerie and Stephanie. read more

I just received a root canal here from Dr Sahar Dadvand she was beyond nice and helpful. I was so nervous going in for the treatment because I was in so much pain but Dr Sahar Dadvand really made me feel comfortable. I had to go in three times but after each time she texted to see how I was doing and wanted me to text back with her after the swelling had gone down.
