Since my review was removed, here is my original review that took place at this facility…read more I am writing to formally register a profound and unequivocal complaint regarding the grooming services provided by Madelyn, which resulted in significant distress and injury to my dog. Prior to the grooming session, I explicitly communicated that my dog suffers from severe anxiety, possesses highly sensitive nails, and reacts poorly to blow dryers. These crucial details were conveyed to ensure a calm and safe experience for him. Madelyn'a immediate response was one of overt rudeness and unprofessionalism, marked by dismissive eye-rolling and a sarcastic retort, "Oh, like I haven't heard that before." This utterly disregarded my legitimate concerns and set an alarming precedent for the subsequent care. Upon collection, my dog was visibly trembling and in an unprecedented state of distress, far beyond his usual initial apprehension. It is important to note that at seven years old, he has undergone numerous grooming sessions throughout his life without ever exhibiting such extreme post-grooming trauma. The full extent of the horror became apparent shortly after. Once I secured him in his car seat and returned home, I discovered a horrifying scene: his entire car seat was saturated with blood. Closer inspection revealed that every single one of his nails had been severely butchered and was bleeding profusely. This was not a minor 'quick' on one nail; it was a comprehensive and shocking mutilation.I immediately contacted the establishment to address this grave matter with Madelyn Sanderson and her response was one of complete denial and appalling indifference. She disavowed any responsibility, callously suggesting the injuries were likely due to my dog moving around too much, stating "it happens," and incredibly, instructing me to "get over it." This complete lack of accountability and empathy is inexcusable. As a direct consequence of her gross negligence, two of my dog's nails subsequently developed severe infections, necessitating veterinary intervention and causing him immense pain and discomfort. It is unequivocally clear that Madelyn possesses neither the necessary temperament nor the professional competence to work with animals, particularly those with specific sensitivities or anxiety. Her inability to interact with stressed animals, coupled with her dismissive attitude and demonstrable negligence, renders her entirely unsuitable for such a role. Given the severity of this incident I have formally reported this matter to the Board of Health, my local Attorney General, office, and the Better Business Bureau. I firmly believe that if such egregious treatment has occurred with my dog, it is highly probable that other animals under her care are also at risk. This level of neglect and unprofessionalism is utterly unacceptable and must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.

So that's why 1 star is removed, we haven't tried for a long time to get in here so maybe things have changed but we ended up having to go to Earthwise Pet Supply in East Madison until we moved to Janesville and are now looking for new groomers down there since traveling to Madison for dog grooming appointments is a lot of travel time.

I'm so happy I made the decision to take my dog to Sit Means Sit in Madison, WI. I'm a dog MOM. A…read moremama bear over my dogs, and entrusting them to anyone else is extremely tough for me. They are my world. In all honesty, I was very unsure about the e-collar. That was a huge hurdle for me to jump, but I'm glad I did. One thing that helped was on the first day, when I dropped off Stella, my 3 year old rescue, Lab-Rottie mix, Nikita allowed me to feel what these collar felt like, on the palm of my hand . It wasn't at all what I had built up in my mind. It felt like a tens unit, that I've used for muscle tightness. Not painful, but an interruption to distraction, redirecting attention- is the best way I can describe it. From day one, results were nothing short of AMAZING. When I picked my dog up after her first day, I was in utter disbelief. I had a different dog from day one. My high energy girl, who would bark at people who said hello on the sidewalk, and bark and growl at other dogs, as well as pull me, came home with some manners. We've made major progress from each class. My dog who was afraid of everything, and had no confidence, is now "placing" on big rocks, tree stumps, anything that she can jump up on, at my command. And she sits or lays there, until I release her. People at the park are amazed, standing around watching MY (crazy) dog, and are complimenting me on what a "well trained dog she is." () A week before we started training, I was cussed out by a man, because my dog barked at him, which made her bark at him even more... it's hard to believe that this is the same dog. You have to do your part at home, reinforcing the work from your trainer. But, it's not hard, as you go about living daily life, you tweak little things and do things a tiny bit different, and voala! You have an incredibly mannerly dog! Sit Mean Sit is a solid program. The owners at Madison, WI are great folks, and their own dogs are often there too. Their communication is second to none, as is the trainer's. Our Trainer, Brenna is OUTSTANDING! Many times, she has reminded me to text her if I have any issues! She means it. And I have. They work through things with you and your dog- you're not alone, and there's phenomenal support. My confidence has grown too. I'm being trained along with my dog. Our walks are enjoyable and even fun now! It's like playing par-core! Whatever raised surface we find to "place" on, we do! She loves it! I love it! Now, I'm excited to grow her skills even more! She has so much potential that never would have been tapped into! I plan to continue training my dog in new skills, and take her to refresher classes, group classes, whatever I can do to help her realize her very best potential!
