5 stars because there's no 10 stars!…read more My family and I have been training at Dogo Krav Maga for about six months now, and I can't say enough good things about this place. From day one, we were welcomed like we'd been part of the community for years. Gustavo, Gustavo Jr., and Samantha are incredible coaches -- knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about teaching proper technique. They have a way of breaking things down so anyone can understand, whether you're brand new or already have some experience. More importantly, they really care. They notice when you're improving, they push you when you need it, and they always make sure you're learning in a safe, supportive environment. The atmosphere here is exactly what we were looking for. It truly feels like a family. No egos, no intimidation -- just people of all ages and skill levels learning, growing, and having fun together. In the six months we've been here, I've watched my family's confidence, fitness, and overall mindset improve in a way I honestly didn't expect. Being part of this community has made a real difference for us, and we're grateful to be here. If you're considering Krav Maga or just looking for a positive place to get stronger and more confident, Dogo Krav Maga is the real deal. Highly recommend.

The family business vibe that kept me for 6 years was minimal. The owner (Patrick) turned into a MAGA keyboard warrior. I avoided Patrick's classes because it was 45 min of stretching and 15 min of workout. Coach Kirby's classes kept me going since my strength gains were worth it (and you don't need to take your shoes off for strength training lol). There was no point in coming here after the last certified personal trainer quit their strength program and more women gradually left. I would rather drive more to train at a different gym (more than one Muay Thai & strength gyms exist in Sacramento) than come here. I don't mind the cost as long as I am in a clean facility and the vibe is worth it. The one star here is for Coach P. - he is a good Muay Thai coach. I didn't really go to Coach Rocci's classes until last year, but the few times I did his music was the best for sparring. Pro tip: use a different personal FB account to post political content where gym members can't see them. Regardless of whether people agree/disagree with your views, there is a level of professionalism needed if you want to be a successful business owner.

She not only loves the classes, her skills improve with every thoughtfully-planned lesson and we feel that she is becoming both stronger and more confident over time. Steve Rodness obviously has an extensive knowledge of martial arts and is skilled at connecting with children, welcoming each student warmly while also being firm enough to control a large class. Our younger daughter will join his classes soon as well. Specific class details can be found in other reviews, so I wanted to mention that my husband and I put a lot of thought into selecting a dojo/dojang here in Davis. While we both have experience in different Japanese martial art styles, we were specifically looking for martial arts taught with a connection to culture and character development along with a friendly and supportive community. In addition to physical techniques, Steve Rodness at RMAC emphasizes guiding principles that are essential not only for martial arts as self-defense and a physical art form, but for living life as a strong and dedicated human being. We're lucky to have found such a positive place for our family.

Mr. Rodness has a teaching style that really connects with kids. He manages to balance discipline and encouragement in a way that keeps students motivated. What we appreciate most is that it is not just a martial arts school. The classes consistently reinforced focus, perseverance, accountability, and respect. Those lessons have carried over into school and every day life for our son. If you're looking for a place that develops confidence and character in addition to excellent martial arts skills, this is a fantastic environment. We're grateful to be part of the program and highly recommend it.

I loved that Denise, AJ, and Cheryl really kick your butt to house/Vegas/EDM style music. I also love the boxing class. The place itself does not look fancy but it is what it is = a kick ass place to get your cardio in along with fighting classes for all ages. I think its great they also hold occasional challenges (most fat loss/most weight loss) and have prizes such as free membership for a period of time, etc. I find it very hard to believe that this gym or any other would charge you for 4 months after the fact-- I canceled mine when I moved and did not experience such an issue. I did however buy the 10-pass class for when I do visit my family on the weekends and can get a cardio workout in. I say try it for yourself. There are all kinds/sorts of people here: thick, thin, young, older, beginners, novice, expert. You'll fit in no matter what shape you are in.
