We enjoyed our walks down to the boat ramp for sunsets where you can launch your boats, kayaks or canoes. There is also a small shaded dog park down by the boat launch area for our fur babies to enjoy. We met so many friendly people here who made us feel like forever friends from day one! We loved that if you do extended stays here people kept their sites looking beautiful with lovely plants, etc. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are very accommodating! The RV sites are spacious, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Unlike many campgrounds where you're practically sharing coffee with your neighbors, Myakka provides plenty of room and natural vegetation between sites. It felt private, peaceful, and uncrowded. If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll never run out of things to do here. There are miles of hiking and biking trails, abundant wildlife, and excellent opportunities for photography and birdwatching. For those looking for a little adventure, the canoe rental outpost offers a chance to paddle the Myakka River and lake system while getting up close and personal with about 10 bazillion alligators. (The OG Floridian!) One attraction you absolutely shouldn't miss is the Trail and Observation Tower. The suspension bridge is a fun experience, and the views from the 72-foot tower are spectacular. Looking out across miles of untouched Florida wilderness really gives you an appreciation for how wild and beautiful this state still is. One word of caution: be mindful of the poison ivy. It's everywhere around campsites, trails, and wooded areas. As a native Floridian who should know better, I managed to find it the hard way and am still paying for that mistake. Learn from my suffering and keep an eye on where you're stepping, leaning, and reaching. Whether you're camping, hiking, biking, paddling, or just looking for a peaceful getaway, Myakka River State Park delivers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already "itching" to return. This time without the poison ivy. Pro Tip: Bring your camera, binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, and a healthy respect for Mother Nature. You'll be glad you did!

We've loved it, the location, & being together to play cards, swim in the pool & ocean.HOWEVER, this year one sister got booted out of our room despite a deposit b/c owner's niece gave 10 day notice of staying there. What good is deposit if not honored. She was given another room not to her choosing or liking since she had 3 grandchildren to share with. We fought for a discount but this doesn't meet the dissatisfaction & disappointment considering our long history of repeated business with the same management. Our family has elected not to renew our business with this location b/c of this, sorry to say. Many of the rooms have not been updated, most of the mattresses of small beds are not comfortable to sleep. In addition, the WIFI in the individual condos is virtually non-existent on the 2nd floor unless you sit outside & what is the point of that at night!

Then on the 4th night of our stay we got in late and encountered cockroach in the toilet. When we looked around the bathroom we saw several more. They were small but there we several visible. We didn't sleep well at all but had to stay in the room. When we got u a couple hours later we saw a large cockroach just above the toilet paper holder on the side of the sink vanity. We called Vacasa right then and explained the situation and sent the representative pictures to substantiate our issues. He was helpful and told us the local property manager would be contacting us. We packed our belongings as quickly as possible and reserved a hotel room in Sarasota. Our last full day of vacation was a bust. The local agent could not be reached for several hours. When she did call around 11:30 am she told us she saw no evidence of cockroaches she told us that the picture of the large cockroach in the bathroom didn't look like anywhere in the unit. We told her the location of the other cockroaches and she continued to tell us she could find none at all. She told us the room is rented continuously and they never experienced cockroaches prior to this. She continued to state that she could find none. We felt as if she implied we were lying. She didn't use the word lie or liar but it felt implied. We felt very insulted. We have been visiting Siesta Key the same week for several years and we always stayed at the same place. This time we tried a new place and now we regret that we didn't stay where we had in the past. we had an a legitimate issue and it was handled poorly by the local Vacasa property agent. She is crediting us for the last day but she still insulted us by the implication that we were lying. We won't use Vacasa again. We feel bad for the next guests to experience the cockroaches because it is only a matter of time before someone else sees the cockroaches as well. We stayed in cottage 4.

Most recently we stayed in August for our family vacation and rented all 4 units. What a wonderful time! Located a stones throw away from the semi private beach & within walking distance to anything and everything you need in the village. You absolutely cannot beat the location! Especially with children. Its so easy taking them to and from the beach especially when a bathroom break is needed or something forgotten. The units are all decorated with a beachy vibe, well maintained and clean. The pool, grilling area, outdoor shower and laundry is great,and management is very attentive and accomodating.

If I had not booked nonrefundable I would have canceled. I will never stay here again.
