I have a black belt here and it is a great studio. The instructors teach you good techniques to defend yourself. They also teach you that you don't automatically fight someone until you have nowhere to run or go. Only fight when necessary read more

Encinitas Karate - Summer Camps Near Me - Encinitas, California

Where should I start? Master Castle and all of her staff are incredible. The reason why we started coming here we was because it was highly recommended by our friends and family. I know it's been around for a long time, and now I understand why. My twin five-year-old boys go there for karate, they also go there for camp, and fun nights out. It's a wonderful place with loving and understanding people and I'm so glad that we listened to our friends and family and decided to join the Encinitas karate family! Thank you so much for everything! read more

Master Castle and her team of amazing humans not only teach top notch martial arts, but they run fantastic summer camps that my kiddo is actually excited to go to! Full of fun activities and learning experiences these camps are worth every penny. Each week has a different theme (spies, Minecraft, space) and are tailored to a wide range of age groups. They are flexible with times and days and are really attentive to detail. The effort and planning put in really shows. My 8 year old is also a karate student there and he loves it! Spring and fall break camps are also offered! 10/10 stars! read more

It's been 5 years now for my daughter. She started at age 4. Her muscle memory is already amazing! I'm confident that once she's a black belt she'll be ready for anything. My son just started. Master Castle and her staff always put the kids first. They handle a wide range (good listeners to some not so good listeners) of kids with ease. They make karate fun and keep your kids engaged. Try a lesson at their location next to Sprouts. You'll be hooked for life and equip your children to handle anything life throws at them while giving you piece of mind. read more

Encinitas Karate - 5 year old having fun and learning at Encinitas Karate - Summer Camps Near Me - Encinitas, California

We joined Encinitas Karate 2 years ago and have enjoyed every class, camp and game night! My son LOVES going to karate class more than any other activity and I love the discipline it has taught him. Master Castle runs an outstanding program and all the instructors have been amazing and work so well with kids of all ages. Aside from Karate, we have also signed up for one of the summer camps and game night. My kid had the best time at both. They do fun games with fun themes! We have enjoyed everything Encinitas Karate has to offer. We even celebrated my son's 5th birthday party there. They ran everything for us and the kids had such a good time! It was less stress on my part to have the party there since they did everything! I recommend EK to every one for any and all of their programs! read more

My son loves it here and his instructor Master Castle. She is so good with keeping him focused and disciplined while still having fun. He is so respectful in class and a good listener I enjoy watching him. He's become more patient because he is learning it takes a lot of practice and correct technique to be a good "ninja." Highly recommend you try out a few classes at this studio. read more

We LOVE Encinitas Karate! Master Castle is wonderful! She is such a great role model for all of her students and is incredibly skilled. She treats all of the children with kindness and respect. Her instructors are dedicated to their students and are great with the kids. It is a safe, supportive environment and I am so grateful we found Encinitas Karate for our three girls! I take an adult class with her a few days a week and so appreciate how Master Castle gives 100% to both the adult and kid classes. Highly recommend! read more

I can't say enough about how much we love Encinitas Karate! Master Castle and all of her instructors have been great at teaching my kids the fundamentals of karate and physical conditioning but also very applicable life lessons. We've been taking classes since 2015 and I've watched my kids grow and mature as they've learned about respect for themselves and others and self-worth. I've also seen other kids in the classes gain confidence and blossom after just a few months of classes. Highly recommend this program for kids and adults. read more

My son has been attending Encinitas Karate for the last 6 months and we couldn't be happier with his progress. My 4.5 year old loves to be the class clown and while we don't want to change his silliness, we want him to know that there is a time and a place for it. These classes have really helped him to control his body. We love that the teachers are appropriately stern in their instruction, but also made the learning process fun. The game at the last five minutes of class and the belt testing every three months give enough rewards to my toddler to make him keep wanting to come back. We have been very happy with our time here. read more

Our kids go to Encinitas Karate for about six years and our older one earned his black belt here!! We can not recommend this studio more! Highly impressed with Master Castle's passion and genuine interest in teaching kids this arts. She and her team truly care about all the kids and are devoted in training them. We've first hand experience of another martial arts studio and know the difference when someone is out there to make money vs who really feels passionate about passing on this art to the next generation. Their camps are also very fun, well thought out and totally worth it! Give it a try, You wouldn't be disappointed! Master Castle and her team rock!! read more

Fantastic place! Master Castle truly cares about the children and understands the training/fun balance, which a lot of kids' dojos are missing. It's always physical, but always fun! And now it's even better at its new location. Large, bright, airy, well-thought-out space! Thank you, Master Castle! read more

My son has been attending for over a year. He's matured so much in the program. I appreciate that they mix hard work with some fun. They do a good job of celebrating the students accomplishments and progress. read more

Master Santhi runs an amazing karate studio and she is a wonderful person who has shown the highest integrity in running her studio. Our children started at preschool ages and through her and all of the wonderful instructors both achieved black belt status as pre-teens; something many people don't achieve in an entire lifetime. What's good about this studio is that they make it fun and safe for the children with games at the end of the lessons. They also offer great camps that our children have greatly enjoyed attending throughout the many holidays and summers. Master Santhi really understands what works for both children and parents. She and her instructors model respectfulness. What we appreciate about Encinitas Karate is that not only do they teach Tang Soo Do forms, but also Korean terminology, self-defense and personal values such as respect, honor, motivation, and discipline. Unlike other martial arts, Tang Soo Do requires many years of dedication to master. It's a huge achievement to earn a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do. Master Santhi encourages self mastery of the martial art, and personal mastery in modeling good behavior and integrity. Master Santhi is a very caring instructor who really helps bring out the best out of every student. She is a wonderful human being who gives back to the community and runs one of the best, if not THE best place to learn martial arts in greater San Diego. We trust Master Santhi and her team of instructors and give Encinitas Karate our highest recommendation. read more

My daughter has trained there for the past seven years. She is currently 10 years old and working toward her 2nd degree black belt. I can not begin to describe the trans-formative affect her involvement with this group of fun, dedicated instructors has had on her. There is not a day goes by that she isn't complimented on her manners, self confidence, humility, and even her posture. She has had an incredible time training and progressing through the periodic testing and belt promotions, and with each new belt advancement came a invaluable increase in her self esteem. She has consistently been an excellent student academically and I believe a large part of that is related to the focus, discipline, and character development that this studio emphasizes every bit as much as the physical coordination and endurance. Each instructor has their own enthusiastic and individualized approach to the portions of the classes they each teach, but they all share a common belief that every child can achieve wonderful results in their daily life with the proper encouragement and structured program that they provide. I've seen kids join the class that I thought would never last a month and a year or two later that same child is a role model to their junior peers. I give the instructors very high marks for creating a fun, vibrant, but focused class environment at this studio. Individually each instructor is very accomplished in their own martial arts training but they all share a humble and reverent manner when interacting with both their young students and their parents. I can not put a price on the confidence, physical prowess, and maturity that my daughter has as a result of her training at this studio. I will forever be indebted to the instructors for their selfless and passionate commitment to the development of healthy, responsible, and disciplined young people. The self defense skills are pure gravy. read more

Very nice karate studio with lots of class times to choose from. We really enjoy the instructors...they make it so much fun for the kids. Have had a Karate Birthday party here and it was a complete success! My children have worked hard to earn their respective belts. Students are taught respect and responsibility while learning Tang Soo Do skills. Very well-rounded school. read more

We've been coming to Encinitas karate for 6 months our 4 year old loves it! We go to class several times a week and he's improved greatly since we started coming. Master Castle and the instructors at Encinitas Karate are wonderful. We have two 8-yr olds enrolled in weekly classes and they love it. My favorite part is the quiet mediation at the start of each class and I never see our kids so still and contemplative. The classes are rigorous but the instructors are caring and understanding of the children, never saying anything negative or discouraging. The kids have to work hard to earn their belts and their stripes and we have seen great progress in our kids' abilities and confidence. read more

I'm sorry our first experience with karate was here, and that we ever had to cross paths with the unprofessional owner, Karl Courage. Please don't make the same mistake. We signed our 5yr old up for an introductory set of classes. To us, this means 4 classes to see if karate and the school are right for you and your child. To Karl Courage, introductory means you go to one class and then enroll your child permanently into a mandatory 2 day a week class. And when we insisted that we wanted our child to actually complete the introductory classes before making a long term, 2 day a week commitment, he started on a condescending barrage of rhetorical questions about why we even came in for classes in the first place. And this was in front of all the other parents waiting for their children. Completely unprofessional and just down right rude. As for the classes, we had one with "Master Karl", and its very clear he likes bossing children around in a condescending manner. He spent half the class telling the 5yr olds what they were doing wrong instead of actually teaching them how to do it right. And the other half was making sure they called him "sir" every time he asked a question. Our second class was with the other 3 instructors and they were great. I'm sorry they're associated with this man. They were caring, fun, and supportive of the kids. They made the class fun as well as educational. They treated the kids like the 5yr olds they are and my child loved it. But we won't ever be going back because of Karl Courage. read more

As it turns out, this studio is under new ownership and it sounds like they will disclose their pricing options to you prior to signing up your child for the trail run. I will probably go back now that it's under new ownership. read more

My 7-year-old son started going to Encinitas Karate a year ago and he loves it! I have been so happy with the programs - from the discipline and respect they teach in classes to the fun camps. My son feels at home there and really looks up to Master Castle and the instructors. The team's approach is kind yet they have clear boundaries that the young students respect, and they have really personalized their approach with my son (as they do with each child from what I've observed) and he has gained so much confidence as a result. We moved to Encinitas last year and my son tried another studio before this one in the area and it was not a good experience to say the least, so I'm grateful to have landed at Encinitas Karate. I highly recommend it for the skills, discipline, fun and self-confidence your child can expect. read more

5 stars for Encinitas Karate! Master Castle has been extremely accommodating in allowing me and my son to take classes TOGETHER. This is exactly what I've been looking for and couldn't find at other studios. Also, I have taken my son to other studios, but the level of skill with children that Master Castle and her staff have is well beyond that of the other studios. He absolutely loves the fun he has there, and as a parent, I love the discipline he is being taught. For myself, I am hard pressed to find a better and more enjoyable workout, plus I enjoy the staff, the other classmates and learning the art of Karate. Adult or child, if you are looking for a studio, this is the one! read more

My 2girls (8&10) and I take karate here. It has been 2 1/2 years and we love it. It is an incredible mind and body workout. They teach self-discipline, self-defense, self-respect and respect for others. They are great with the kids, but the kids are expected to make an effort to do their best, which is what I love about the instructors. The belts are not handed out, they are earned. Everyone on test day has a great feeling of pride when they earn their new belt, whether they are 3 or 63. I highly recommend this to everyone I talk to. read more

We have been attending Encinitas Karate for over 3 years - both of our boys started in their Tiny Champs program and have enjoyed their classes and quickly excelled into more senior classes. The teachers make learning fun and also instill a good sense of discipline, self-confidence, as well as respect for one's self and for others. If you ask our boys though, they would probably say that their favorite part is belt testing day, when they get to break a board, ha ha :) read more

Carl the instructor is very nice and has the patience required to instruct children.

We love Encinitas Karate! The instructors do a great job keeping it fun and encouraging while teaching technique, and reinforcing good habits and discipline. My son is on the shy, sensitive side and has never felt uncomfortable. He consistently has fun and truly enjoys every class! We started 7 months ago (my son had just turned 6). Each class is different so he is never bored, and offers just enough variety to keep him focused and active. We would definitely recommend Encinitas Karate (I plan to enroll my 3 year old daughter as well). read more

Had an amazing Birthday Party for my 5 year old at Encinitas Karate. All of the kids had a great time with the various activities. The time flew by and the kids did not want to go home. Both of my sons have trained at this place for 2.5 years and we love it! The teachers are very friendly yet professional and they know what they're doing with karate and all of the weapons. At graduation ceremony, they do a little show from the black belt students, so children can see what they can do when they're in black belt. They do karate tournament as well as an option for those who would like to compete against other martial arts schools in San Diego. They have class for children from 3 yrs through adult. Most importantly, they treat my sons as if they are their own children! I can't say enough about good they are. Thanks you, Encinitas Karate! read more

Nice teachers but for the price, the 30min class is NOT worth it. Way too many kids in the class, instructors spend too much time on non-instruction stuff like belt awards, over-explaining exercises and all too often, they spend too much time focused on a single child while the rest of the kids sit, watch and wait. The insructors need to change the course to an HOUR, or, limit the class size and FOCUS on ALL KIDS, and do the extra stuff AFTER CLASS (belt awards, etc). Not coming back to this place till they change it up. Because for what the kids get, its overpriced, too short. read more
