Ordered two Al Pastor tortas and they were so disappointing! My partner and I have been on a "torta kick" lately and trying tortas from various places throughout PDX. If I broke down the torta it'd be like this: 50% bread, 15% lettuce, 10% raw red onion, 10% beans, 5% tomatoes, 5% avocado; 2.5% other condiments, and 2.5% Al Pastor. I've never had a sandwich have such a small portion of meat in my 39 years of life. Hopefully this was just a weird fluke. read more

Holy cow, this is going to be tough....so, I deviated to this place earlier today because my wife wanted the Mojarra Frita (deep fried Tilapia). It's the only Mexican item that she likes to eat. I typically go to another establishment for this dish but wanted to cut some time, so, this place was much closer and it had decent reviews. This place is small, non-descript, and clean. They provide an assortment of sauces (mild or hot), pico, and some pickled vegetables at a separate table on a corner of the restaurant. Pretty basic, nothing fancy, which is completely fine. I ordered the deep fried Tilapia for my wife (minus the beans) $12 and a sausage breakfast burrito $5 for myself to go. I grabbed a small container of their spicy hot green sauce on the way out. When I got home and opened up the burrito to put on the sauce, all I can see and imagine was a carbohydrate nightmare wrapped in a tortilla shell (even more carbs!). Literally, this burrito was at least 75% hash brown potatoes with some egg and even less sausage coagulated in a cheesy mess. The amount of sausage probably equated to about 2 store bought breakfast links cut into 2-3 sections. Just really poor ratio, unfortunately. The flavor was equally as bad, despite, using all the green sauce. The sauce was absolved and dummied down by the... guess what? Yes, potatoes! I ended up throwing 3/4 of this burrito away. Too horrendous and flavorless. Not worth the risk of jacking my blood sugars sky high. I may try something else here in the near future in hopes of improving this review! Good luck! read more

My wife and I have been meaning to stop in, so we popped in for dinner recently and we are sure glad we did. The homemade tortillas were so pillow soft and delicious, whatever I put in them just made the best bites. The carne asada was right on, and the hot salsa I asked for did not disappoint. My wife had the taquitos and was thrilled with them. We cleaned up everything and will definitely be back. ¡Salud! read more

I ordered the quesadilla plate and there was barely to no cheese so the meat kept falling onto the plate. They barely gave any sour cream or guac too. beans and rice are ok. The tv was very loud. The only thing i liked was it was fast service. read more

First time here and it barely gets a passing grade. True authentic flavors but to whom? Every family has it own flavor profiles, but the question is will it translate out to the general public? The green sauce on the enchiladas had a high amount of lime flavor over powering any of the other ingredients. The carrots, onion and jalapeños in the condiment bar were too vinegary. I had a steak taco plate that looked great but there was very little seasoning in the steak and it was over cooked. I always give our local businesses a second chance and Enchilada Express will be no different. I hope they get the word to change some the ingredient ratios and improve. read more

I was super-hungry when I came here, and was a bit annoyed at first because they took an eternity just to make 2 tostatas. but maybe they were cooking fresh meat? I dunno. What I DO know is, as soon as I took a bite, all anger was gone. It was SO GOOD. I was just going to take couple bites and then run into the store, but I ended up staying in my car to eat the whole thing. We have been here a few times and the enchiladas were really salty! But hubby liked the carne asada. Gave them another chance and the enchiladas were worse 2nd time around. Came here again for the carne asada and just about choked on the meat. It was terrible! And very expensive. I am always on the lookout for good tacos, and Enchilada Express was my destination for lunch today. I ordered a Taco Plate with consists of three tacos of my choice with rice and retried beans. I chose my three favorite meats for my tacos: pastor, carne asada, and carnitas. The pastor was really delicious, marinaded in a savory spicy/smoky tasting sauce. Carne asada was nicely grilled with some browned edges, just the way I like it. Carnitas was nice and lean. So, all three meats sort of stood out in their own way. Overall, the food tasted great, and the seating area at Enchilada Express was neat and tidy. This will become one of my favorite taco places. . .and it's also nice that they have a punchcard for frequent customers (because I'll be a frequent customer from now on). read more

A small little shop with a big flavor! Have been going here for the lengua tacos, very fresh with great corn tortillas. I branched out today and got an asada quesadilla plate, for me to much food. It was tasty but my preference is less Cheese, the rice and beans are flavored perfect. The guacamole was great, it being the first time to have it I don't know how consistent that might be. Ron and I were out and about today scouting for lunch. It usually takes us about four tries to find a place to eat. Ron is kind of picky, but we both really liked the look of this small place. There were about eight tables total. It is located in a mall with a BiMart store and at least four other Mexican restaurants. Our choice was squeaky clean. Prices were moderate at about $7.95 for two enchiladas plates with all fixins'. Parking was easy and plentiful. Inside and outside were squeaky clean. Employees were gracious and friendly and our orders were brought to the table quickly. We both really enjoyed our chicken enchilada plates. I recommend Enchilada Express to anyone when you wish to enjoy some excellent Mexican food! read more

We stopped by on the weekend and tried their Pozole Verde, mole negro, mole rojo, and mole colorado enchiladas. I had never tried the pozole verde but it was delicious, and quite a big serving too, i had to take half home, the enchiladas were really good as well, they are served with beans and rice. To drink we had their chocolate Oaxaca, its done with water instead of milk or substitute but its really good as well. Now we order to go all the time. Definan recommended. read more

This place serves great tacos. The owner hooked me up with a delicious mole enchilada plate. So I said hey man can I get the recipe and he told me no because it was a old family recipe. I tried to go home and cook it up myself but I can't figure it out. Man those mole enchiladas are good. read more
