The folks here are really really nice and happy to tell you about their wares. They are a couple and both are Native American. They make a lot of the art and jewelry in the place as well as bring in some nice pieces from tribes in the southwest US. They had neat knives and spears and such, beads, different wall hanging items, and jewelry. I was struck by how good their prices were on some of their pieces. It seems that the husband, I think his name is Pete, makes some of it. He can then charge less for his pieces than he could if maybe it was Hopi or Navajo made. I really liked his pieces and bought a nice fetish necklace. I'm so proud of it. He told us about some of the other items he is planning on making and I think we will go back to see them and maybe get them for presents. Christmas will eventually roll back around. :-) Like all of the stores in The Trading Place Flea Market, NDN ways is only open on Saturday and Sunday.

First let me say that shopping for a rug is a grueling, somewhat uncomfortable task to begin…read morewith... and there are a lot of rugs stores out there. Without going any more into that... I heard about Rug Mart from an acquaintance when I asked her where she purchased a beautiful rug in her home. So we decided to check them out when we were shopping for a new rug for our living room. Rug Mart Houston has an incredible selection of rugs, on site, ready for you to see and available immediately for purchase. Considering we were searching for an oversized rug (12x15), being able to see the rug - full size - and not in a very small sample size, on-site availability was very important to us. Latif, the owner, listened to us describe what we were interested in and even asked to see photos of our room (which we happened to have), as well as paid close attention to the rugs we liked as we were looking through the vast selection, and he helped us quickly narrow it down to a couple of favorites. Latif was very polite, professional, and followed up with us in an appropriate time frame (he was not pushy at all). He has a HUGE selection of every type of style of rug one could be looking for and in many price ranges. Bottom line, we would buy from Latif again. We could not be happier with our rug purchase - the large rug and the runner to coordinate with it - look fantastic.
