The classroom is a fun open space for them to play and explore. The high adult to child ratios and parent involvement make the kids feel comfortable and really helps for kids who might be a little hesitant about leaving mom or dad. Yes, co-op is a bit more work than dropping kids off at a a traditional preschool but it is a much more rewarding experience. I have loved getting to know other families in our neighborhood and feeling part of a community. This is an awesome school filled with caring people!

I had a child in Meadowbrook 5's with Teacher Sarah and am looking forward to having more of my…read morekids in her program. She really meets 5 year olds at their level, with a rich natural science based curriculum (she is a former zookeeper so has awesome ideas on that front!), tremendous emphasis on fostering successful social relationships, and fantastic pre-writing, pre-reading ideas. At first glance, the space isn't as appealing as at some other co-ops. It is in the basement of achurch, and the parking lot and back side constitute the outdoor play space. But the room itself is cleverly divided to create a rich learning atmosphere (the little elevated library space is to die for and you always find kids sprawled out in there reading books!) and Sarah is able to work wonders with the outdoor area. Toward the end of the year, the kids LOVE her outdoor kid Olympics, complete with flags and medals. We all cried a little at the end of the year "graduation" b/c our time together was so special, and my daughter (entering 1st grade and having experienced another preschool) still remembers her Meadowbrook 5's class as her favorite year in school. For me, co-op has been a great preparation my kids schooling and also a great parenting help. It's more work than your usual preschool, but the affordable price and the rewards make it well worth the effort.

It was bittersweet moving to a big kid daycare closer to us, but we would recommend Kathy to anyone. She made a very positive impression on our little girl! Kathy's home is always so clean, tidy and organized. All of the kids have their own cubby, and there is an iPad for parents to check-in and check-out. There are always new/fresh toys and play sets available. The outside yard is so cute with lots of toys for outdoor play. Kathy is always coming up with weekly learning themes and art projects. She provides breakfast, lunch and snacks.

I can tell you, it's the best decision we made for our son. Not only does he love seeing Kathy, but the kids there are a great combination of ages - almost like Montessori! Our son has learned so much. At 22 months, he already has over 70 words. He knows how to communicate his limits and boundaries. He knows sounds of animals, cars, etc. He cleans up after himself, throws things in the trash, and so much more. I can tell that Kathy and Miranda work with him and the other kids teach him, too. We are so glad we found Kathy and Miranda. They've been such a huge blessing to our family.

I always got the sense they were just absolutely showering her with love. And that's the #1 they need at this young age! My girl JUMPED into their arms after the initial transition, and I considered them her "extra aunties and grandmas." Zero staff turnover - she had the same 3 loving wonderful teachers the whole 1.5 years (compare this to the large chain daycares where turnover is super high!). This gave us so much peace of mind, and she was truly bonded with them. 2) Great hours for two full time working parents. 3) Reliable, reasonable, and flexible. They never closed. The few times I showed up 5 min late, this wasn't a big deal (because it was very rare of course). No confusing policies to navigate - if she was truly sick I'd keep her home; if she just has one of those constant little kid stuffy noses, no big deal. 4) Meals provided! I can't tell you how much easier this made my life in the morning to not pack lunches, or anything else. Drop her off with a jacket each morning and that's it. 5) Naps without drama: They figured out how to get her to nap there from Day 1, no fuss. She was still on 2 naps at home but they seamlessly transitioned her at school to 1 nap, without me needing to do a thing. These women have been watching babies for decades - transitions like this are no big deal to them and my baby came home happy every day. :)

Everything has been amazing here at The Discovery Center! Our daughter has been going for nearly a…read moreyear and a half and still gets excited to go to school each day and talks about her friends and teachers all the time at home. The homemade meals have been a great way to introduce her to foods we might not make at home, and the staff has done a great job with providing alternative food options when needed to work around our daughter's allergies. Our daughter had a reaction at home to soy and it turned out to be an allergy to all legumes. While we were figuring this out the Discovery Center staff went above and beyond and had a list of safe foods and a list of foods she couldn't have that we would update to ensure they were avoiding all potential allergens as we figured this out. This made us feel safe sending her to school during a more uncertain time. They still go above and beyond to avoid her allergies and provide other food options. Our experience potty training our daughter before she was two years old would not have been possible without the help and support of the staff. They helped take her to the toilet often and continued to help potty train her while at school. There's a great balance of education, play, and outdoor time. We can tell she is learning a lot and we know she is having a ton of fun too. Our daughter will come home and suddenly start counting to numbers we haven't even tried to teach her or sing new songs! Our daughter is insanely shy around new people, she still is scared of some grandparents. But she is very comfortable with everyone at The Discovery Center, I couldn't imagine sending her somewhere else. The classroom and daycare size is a perfect middle ground where there are plenty of kids our daughter's age, but it still has a more intimate feel where everyone knows each other. The whole place has a great "family" vibe where all the parents will pitch in. There was a time when they were remodeling the outside play area and they asked if some parents could volunteer to help put together some structures on a Saturday. It felt like nearly every dad showed up to help get these structures built and the owners provided us all a home cooked lunch for coming together and helping out. Speaking of remodeling the outside, since we started at The Discovery Center the entire center has had so many improvements. From new play structures outside, to a new outdoor infant area, to a full remodel inside. It's been fun to see this place grow and improve over the year and a half we've been sending our daughter to school. The Discovery Center has been a great daycare for our daughter, has been flexible and helpful for our needs, and we will be bringing our newest daughter to the same school here soon!

We let them know and they immediately changed their minds about our enrollment. They said: "Either pay full price without the subsidy or we will not accept your kid". On their end, the money they receive is the same - the only issue is they had to report the paperwork and taxes related to it. School in their response claims my kids have never been part of the school: As mentioned in my original review, it is because they decided not to enroll our kids TWO WEEKS before we started. This is the whole point why we wrote the review.
