I was referred to John at Salon Ginger during this transition, right when I was considering going back to relaxed hair. During my first appointment, John provided a thorough consultation and encouraged me to stick with my natural hair journey. That advice truly changed everything for me. Now, two and a half years after my last relaxer, my natural hair is thriving, and I owe so much of that to John. I visit him every couple of months for deep conditioning treatments and trims, and my hair has never been healthier. On my most recent visit, he trimmed, blew out, and straightened my hair. It looked stunning--just as beautiful as my former relaxed hair but so much healthier and natural! John's expertise and care are unmatched, and I couldn't recommend him enough. I had been waiting for three weeks for my hair coloring appointment. I had a lot going on at the time, and misremembered the time. It was set for 9, but I remembered it as 10. At 9:55, I called and said I was on the way and about the park, but might be five minutes late. The front desk girl cheerily reassured me that was fine. I arrive at 10, no one at the front desk. After about ten minutes, the receptionist came out, seemingly confused. She took my name and said the appointment was actually at 9, and they'd sent thr hairdresser home because I didn't show up. I stared at her blankly. Got the vibe she was just there to get a discount on shampoo and collect a paycheck. I understand coming in late was my mistake, but usually salons call you if you're fifteen minutes late. I received no call. Not only that, but when I called the morning of, the receptionist had no idea what was going on or who I could be, showing how clueless she was. So. I get rescheduled for three weeks down the line. I'm sad at this point because I really need my hair fixed, and getting appointments for Saturday is difficult. She SAYS she schedules me, and tells me ill get a confirmation text. Fast forward three weeks to the day before the appointment, I have no confirmation. I call them asking what happened, and if I still ha e my appointment. I want to be kind and clear. Michael, from what I can tell, is still learning about the world of certain hair cuts. He takes his time and wants to do the best job he possibly can. In my situation, Kristin was there to double check and offer small changes to improve his technique. This is no knock to Michael, but to allow other customers patience and understanding. I appreciate the attention to detail. I have lived here for a few years now and Michael and Kristin did very good job on my shoulder length hair trim. I can only imagine how hard it is for Michael with having a different type of hair to cut. I would give 4 stars overall for the haircut. I was won over by the customer service and this pushes my review to 5 stars. Almost instantly I felt like I was at home with family talking in the living room. They were actually interested in what I was saying and I never got the feeling "they were making conversation" everything flowed nicely.
