I took her to a local vet here in Laveen a handful of times and they'd barely touch her because she was kind of wild at the vet, like most cats. Anyway, she started to deteriorate quickly and finally I made the longer drive to this vet. Within seconds, he felt her body and told us she had a tumor. An xray and ultrasound I requested confirmed this and unfortunately she was not able to be saved. Like any pet owner I was full of grief, guilt and regret. To this day I feel responsible and wish I had taken her to a CAT VETERINARIAN from the start, specifically Larkspur Cat Clinic. I still have three cats and despite the long drive, under no circumstances will I ever take my cats anywhere else for anything. This guy knows cats. He's like a cat mechanic/whisperer. How could he find out what was wrong with Sophie by feeling her body for a few seconds while this other vet couldn't after multiple visits? To me there's no excuse and I know it can be complicated but they could've recommended she go somewhere else if they didn't know!!! If you love your cat, like REALLY love your cat (as I did and do), GO HERE AND DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. During the appointment, the veterinarian and I discussed starting an antiviral medication. However, when I was checking out, the technician refused to ask the veterinarian about the antiviral we had discussed, leading to an argument at a time when I was already extremely worried about my kitten. What was most concerning was that my kitten was mouth breathing and acting ill and withdrawn. Rather than leaving reassured, I left feeling that my concerns were being dismissed. As a pet owner, I should not have to argue to have a question relayed to the veterinarian, especially when my kitten's condition appeared serious enough that I was considering taking her directly to an emergency veterinary hospital from the clinic. I also found it difficult to communicate with the veterinarian, who often spoke with his eyes closed, making the interaction feel detached and unengaged. When a young kitten is declining, owners need clear communication, responsiveness, and a willingness to promptly re-evaluate when concerns persist. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Overall, I left feeling unheard, frustrated, and lacking confidence in the care my kitten received. I cannot recommend this clinic based on my experience.

My 11 yr old had BENIGN TUMOR- back paw. That vet said, difficult spot & it didn't look easy or inexpensive for surgery. That vet DID lab & finding.. tumor BENIGN not long before. the tumor recently became so big & started bleeding from rubbing. I took her here. - I met w/surgeon, Dr Waite & seemed knowledgeable but I DID MAKE IT CLEAR at least 3 times @ q1st appt., tumor is BENIGN. he & his assistant were both in room, when I let the doctor know. They had other vets number. I then requested a cost breakdown so NO SURPRISES, & office sent us home w/ cost sheet. - I scheduled surgery right away & surgery day, arrived , but office had canceled appt., & claimed they left vm but none rec'd. So I made another appt But before I left I asked about a hand out sheet, Dr Waite, in the 1st appt, assured me that'd I get so I could purchase nec. supplies for her 2 wks dressing changes.. I prefer to get what I need &choose best products myself. AND I don't have car.. so I rely on husband to drive. I asked, each time we went to clinic for pre surgery visits & at drop off day of surgery. AND I also called office but could never get list of supplies Waite said I'd get.. just empty promises..a list would be provided at the next, ..next, ..next appt.. - Day of appt, NO LIST, NO rabies vax done, either, as my husband & I were told. - by Dr Waite during the initial visit to have the tumor checked, & at follow up appt to check her weight.. she had stomach problems & Waite, would not give, rabies vax, until day of surgery.. - Nothing but ConfusioN! in the front office as I am trying to handle a doped up dog, she wanting to get out of the office, as husband tried dealing w/ bill. But assistant who lead my dog out to waiting rm, before we were actually ready to leave.. causing MORE CONFUSION & problems for US, the customer.. handed leash to husband trying 2pay. & she said, dog WORE the ELIZABETHAN COLLAR (cone of shame) just fine in CRATE.. but WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET DOG TO WEAR, AFTER LET OUT. dog had no cone, so he's got yo make sure she does not lick. & pay bill. - shortly thereafter, I was instructed by NURSE who ASSISTED in OPERATION that WE MUST MAKE SURE, DOG WEARS cone, they the professionals?? COULD NOT MAKE HER WEAR.. I'm supposed to stay up for 2 wks, days & nights to make her wear cone, they couldn't get her to wear. I did try!! over & over.. Even the 2 of us but we couldn't get darn cone around her neck, I certainly couldn't have done it alone, since we couldn't do it together.. .. and husband does have to work.. at an office .. to make.. - i don't have car, had 0 supplies on hand because NO ONE kept their promises of list of supplies.. as they promised & I needed.. **dog wanted to leave their office, probably needed to pee, but wanted to go.. as i am trying to get detailed info, from NURSE, husband was trying 2 pay the billing with another assistant.. and I was at wits end, to say least.. The written info I did receive about her 4 meds was non existent except for 1 script handout.. .. the office was closing & would re-open 3 days later.. *******They charged me $254 for lab test, I did not need & HAD 3 times, min. made VERY CLEAR, SHE DID NOT NEED, & I was charged. I had paid the previous vet for a lab test too. AnD I had a BRAND NEW cone of shame at home I could've provided it.. Additional charges.. + They refused to refund my for unnecessary lab but office manager did promise to chec next day & call me back.. which she did NOT do, either ! I called again re: my $254 REFUND,& was told by new assistant, she'd give my message to office manager. No CALL. BACK. I think they obviously need my more than I do.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this CLINIC any longer They got my dog's weight WRONG within paperwork they gave us w/ bill.. we had to shell out more $$ for dressing change after 1wk from surgery.. he pd in full that day, & they handed him a STATEMENT..showing we owed nearly $100 so i went back inside, not happy.. by the way.. as the assistant kept looking @her puter screen saying acct was $0. I kept telling her i needed a statement showing $0 bal. ***ALSO.. they put down she'd gained A FULL 10 lbs within a few days.. 3 days I'll update w/foto, shortly -(very SLOPPY mistakes, medical clinic staff. ) I hope they used correct weight for doping anesthesia & the 4 meds guess they DId need my more than I ! But hearing aides or training ur inept staff. .. but my SHYANNE IS a trooper & she's gonna LIVE .. w/all 4 paws. (never again will this happen 2 me.. a new year AND A new vet clinic.!!!) My experience at Village Animal Clinic was an absolute nightmare…read morethat ended in the heartbreaking loss of my 12-year-old Australian Shepherd, my best friend for over a decade. I brought her in because she wasn't acting like herself, and when I tried to explain her symptoms--including a persistent cough--the vet immediately dismissed everything as "just old age." She was fixated on the idea that it was Valley Fever from the start, without even bothering to do a basic exam: no temperature check, no thorough physical inspection, nothing. She jumped straight to x-rays and blood tests. The x-rays showed something suspicious in her lungs, and the vet told me it could be Valley Fever or cancer--but she was dead certain it was Valley Fever and didn't offer or suggest any further diagnostics to rule out cancer. The next day, she called with more on the x-rays, still inconclusive between the two, but again pushed Valley Fever and didn't suggest further tests. Then tragedy struck: my dog had a seizure the following day. I called the clinic in a panic, asking for advice and if we should seek medical help immediately. The person who answered said she was the only one in the office that day and refused to contact the vet or any techs for guidance. Just hours later, my sweet girl passed away in my arms--it was horrific and agonizing to watch. The day after she died, the vet finally called with the blood results: Valley Fever test negative. Suddenly, it "could have been cancer," and she casually said there's "unfortunately no way to know for sure if dogs have cancer through blood test." With our own research afterward, we learned there were specific blood tests or other diagnostics she could have run days earlier to detect cancer and give us a clearer picture. If we'd known it was likely cancer, we could have made the compassionate choice to euthanize humanely and spare her that terrible suffering. This wasn't just incompetence--it felt like negligence and a complete lack of urgency or empathy. The dismissal of concerns, refusal to investigate properly, and poor communication (or lack thereof) during a crisis cost my dog her life and left us devastated. I would never trust this clinic with any pet again and strongly advise others to go elsewhere for thorough, caring veterinary care.

I left, was charged $75 for nothing. I was being scammed by Banfield and needed my dog to get the care she deserved. That's when I found West valley animal hospital out of recommendation from my bf. My dog is 100% better and it's thanks to this vet. Thank you for having such a friendly and personal receptionist, passionate vet techs and a knowledgeable vet who actually speaks to patients owners. I called several mobile vets in the hopes they could come to me as my cat was incredibly stressed and fearful and I didn't want to exacerbate it by taking her to our regular vet who only had long waits and no appointments available. When I called the office manager Tammy said they didn't have any appointments available, and that the vet tech had already gone home for the day, but after we spoke about what was going on she told me "hold on" and when she came back to the phone she said they were going to come to me right away. I could tell how much she cared about my cat just from our conversation. Dr. Garthe was wonderful with my poor grumpy girl, who isn't much of a people cat. She had her calmed (as calm as an in pain cat can be) and drained and cleaned the wound, and then taught me how to care for it. Today shes eating, drinking and even playing again! Its very apparent that she truly cares about our fur babies, and I would call her again in a heartbeat if I needed her. I would give an arm and a leg for my cat, but at the end of the day the superb care she provided was incredibly affordable. I would recommend Dr. Garthe to anyone looking for someone that cares about their animals like they're their own. Thank you Dr. Garthe, and Tammy, you were an incredible assistant! We called North Central with a general question about a Bird that we had taken there in the past, but it "had been over three years" and they had not one bit of information about us or our Bird and we had taken 2 different birds there multiple times. I've had animals for 20 years consistently and if I don't go to a vet for three years, that's a good thing! North Central says they purge records 100% after 3 years! if I go back after 3 years and they no longer have my records after three years, they must view my business as unimportant to them ... and having to start all over again is ridiculous! 3 years is not that much time! They delete records after 3 years?!? No thanks! We're gonna stick with Arizona exotic animal Hospital and I highly recommend them to folks with birds! Dr. Lamb is great!! Negative 1 for a rating! We both took the entire day off for this apt. Days off work are not easy to come by. We had heard really good things about this vet practice but we didn't get that from our experience. I would like to note this office tried to move our apt earlier in the week which they changed their minds and kept the apt. My guess is they needed my time slot for someone else.
