It was okay. I was super disappointed to see them just using regular store bought bread. The sandwich would have been much better with an actual roll. They also wouldn't let my son order a kids roast beef. They only allow turkey or ham, which was disappointing. The restaurant itself was also not super clean. It was cluttered and the floor was sticky in the bathroom. The trashcans were overflowing which made it look unclean. We were there after 2pm so it wasn't during a rush. read more

We have been told how fresh and delicious this deli is. Well the folks sharing about this place were correct! Empson's donated a 25.00 gift card to a Street Paws event and we won it! We went for lunch today. Upon walking in we noticed it is clean and organized. We were greeted as we walked in. They also provide outdoor seating. I ordered the Gourmet Chicken Salad. The veggies were crispy fresh and it came with my choice of veggies and dressing. The chicken salad was delicious! If you are not into fruity chicken salad, order the regular. The difference is just the addition of craisins and almonds in the gourmet. My wife ordered the ham and cheese and her first comment was "This is so fresh". The service was friendly and efficient. This was greatly appreciated. Empson's will be our go to Deli going forward. I love supporting local. They also have a Health Inspection rating of 100%! read more

Well I have to say, a cup of soup is $9? Ah no!!! Not a bowl but a cup!!! And I have previously ordered there and it was great! Not my Reuben. Now of course it's not Canters, in LA by no means! but the meat was tough and inedible. Bread soggy because it was haphazardly put on the bread along with the cheap Swiss cheese. and not the meat. Now it was a total disaster! My experience, perhaps not yours! Never again! And some idiot spray painted a a vile display on their business which to me is a hate crime. This deli is a hidden gem in Stockbridge. I've been addicted to these sandwiches ever since they were Fogel's years ago. They didn't move far from their original location, but I had no idea until just recently that Empson's is run by members of the same family with the same quality sandwiches. I swear the one thing that makes an Empson's sub stand out is the delicious bread - the dark wheat is some of the best bread I've ever eaten! I've been to this place a handful of times and every time I get cucumbers on my salad they're super slimy, It makes me wonder how long they've been sitting. As for their sandwiches I got a Rueben about two weeks ago and the meat was freezing cold in the middle where they cut it in half and my bread was extremely burnt. As for their other sandwiches like their Club Sandwich combo there was way too much meat on the sandwich to where you couldn't even taste the toppings and i ordered a cup of ice water and found small pieces of mold floating in the cup. Now for the staff, they're very unprofessional and unwelcoming and they don't wear hairnets and after eating my entire sandwich i found a small curly hair in the last few bites on the cheese. read more

I have been coming to Empson's since I was 9 or 10. I'm 21 now. This deli is HANDS DOWN THE BEST DELI IVE EVER GONE TO. The best wheat bread I've ever eaten in my LIFE (I wish they'd sell it by the bag!!) and the KINDEST STAFF IN THE WORLD. since I was a kid I've felt nothing but love from this family owned restaurant. I show it to all of my friends and family and count down the days till I can eat Empson's again. I will come here forever and hopefully get to come here with my children one day too! read more

This is a family owned and operated business that we just learned is from our hometown!!! Its a small world...we got the chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread split in half with half the gourmet chicken salad (w/almond and cranberries) and the other half regular... YUMMY!!! The bread was very fresh.. We also couldn't decide which soup so we got two. The pablano corn chowder, the brunswick stew and they were soooooo deliciously good..... homemade!!! The lady brought us out the vegetable soup as well in case the corn chowder was too spicy for us. How amazingly sweet!!! It was also delicious as he uses filet mignon in the soup!!! The pablano corn chowder had just the right amount of spice that it wasn't too spicy and it was delicious. My favorite is the brunswick stew...ahhh..soooo good!!! Four of us Went to Empson's today around 1:30 for lunch. Everything was good until we got to the cashier. We had a school fundraiser card that we tried to use but she was like 'I've never seen this before' so I asked for the Manager and she said 'their not here' so I said well can you call someone? She finally called the owner. So that settle that. When we came through the door in the beginning she was putting chips out and I asked her did she have Lays chips. She said 'that's all we got' with an attitude. She is the epitome of a disgruntled worker that acts like it's killing her to be at work. Then when we left I asked the guy when would the manager be there and he said 'I'm the manager' and we all looked at the lady and said I thought you said there was not a manager here! She started getting loud and said 'I didn't say that I said the owner was not here! Liar! She stood there and was getting loud arguing with us because we caught her in a lie! Then she told me daughter to 'Shut Up' and I said lady You are really being rude! I told the 'manager' that he just lost 4 customers and he didn't seem too concerned! He had to finally tell the lady to let it go! $58.00 spent at Empson's. Never again will we be treated this way. I think her name is Ms. Jackie. Shame on you! Worst experience ever! read more
