I had struggled with anxiety for over half my life, to the point where even leaving my house felt overwhelming. As my anxiety worsened, my world kept getting smaller, I wasn't living much of a life. Starting this journey was scary, but Deanne made me feel completely heard during my consultation, and I knew I was in the right place to heal. I've now completed 17 sessions, and I'm honestly amazed at how much my life has changed. I'm facing triggers head-on with little to no difficulty, and I finally feel like I'm living again. My husband and I reached out to Rita last December after reading her excellent reviews and believing she would be a good fit to support us through some challenges involving one of his past relationships. Our initial joint session with Rita was encouraging, and the individual sessions that followed felt meaningful and productive. I truly felt that she cared about both our relationship and our personal well-being. However, circumstances changed when my husband's former partner discovered that we were seeing Rita and appeared at her office without notice. I was initially told that Rita had declined to meet with her. I later learned that Rita did in fact meet with her--on more than one occasion--despite the ongoing issues and history that were discussed in our sessions. We are now involved in a legal matter with this individual, and her court filings include information that could have only come from private sessions with Rita, including deeply personal details about my husband and me. This has caused us significant concern regarding confidentiality and professional boundaries. Our attorney has attempted to contact Rita for clarification, but we have not yet received a response. We sincerely hope she will come forward to provide accurate information so this situation can be properly addressed.

I usually don't write reviews, especially not reviews for someone whom I have only had one…read moreinterview session with. But I decided to write this one because it was an interesting/perplexing experience to me. I had a 50 minute interview session with this therapist. At the end of the interview, we both agreed that we are not a good match to each other. I read some of the good reviews for him before scheduling an appointment, and I can certainly see how this therapist can be helpful to certain patients and I can fully understand why they like him. I was hoping that I would have a good experience with him myself when I scheduled the first session. I have done a lot of deep work before. Everything the other reviewers were talking about and everything this therapist was saying about my patterns in the interview session made sense to me. These comments/suggestions resonated with what I worked on before and what I am looking for in a therapist. I was really hopeful that this therapist would be a good match for me. He has the insight and the analytical mind set, he clearly knows deep issues and wants to help patients to make progress quickly. Part of me was saying to myself: This should work. And yet we didn't connect by the end of the interview session. He was watching me, knowing that there was trauma and painful struggle, but he seemed to expect the patient to open up to him and go deep in the first 50 minutes of an interview session. I didn't get the impression that he got me at the emotional level and was holding the patient in their struggles, that he got the hint that I knew what I was doing and I am very capable of talking openly in therapy, but just not in the first 50 minutes, with someone I hadn't made the connection yet. To me, this was an interview session and I needed to see if there was empathy and connection first before exploring something deep and painful. In fact, I almost got the impression that maybe his emphasis is not so much to heal the patient in the therapeutic relationship dynamic, but rather to provide insight so that the understanding of the issue is reached quickly. His approach can work very well to certain patients, but I have seen other great therapists who provide the same type of insights, deep into childhood or traumatic experiences, making connections to the present pervasive patterns...etc. But in addition to all of that, the other therapists I had good experiences with also had an emphasis in the healing aspect of the therapeutic relationship, so that the patient experiences the interpersonal relationship differently than the bad ones they had in their past. For some reason, this healing aspect of the patient-therapist relationship dynamics was not experienced in my first 50 minutes of an interview session with this therapist.

Unprofessional, I don't believe he cares about anything other than money of course. What a waste of…read moretime

I saw Dr. Haezebrouck and I recommend finding another doctor if you are looking for mental health services of any kind. I was told to come here by my therapist to be evaluated for ASD. I was evaluated by Dr. Haezebrouck in Feb-Mar 2022. I am (or was) a "high-functioning" and high-masking individual. After the appointment when he gave me my report I went to my car and cried. His written report was sloppy and had a lot of incorrect information, including incorrect names and dosages of medications I was on that I had actually written down on paper for him as well as put on my intake forms. He had many misinterpretations of what I'd told him about my life and myself, his timeline was off, had incorrect details about events in my life, had messy typos like misspellings and at one point wrote the year "20212", randomly referred to me as 'he' a few times (Im not even trans, these were sloppy mistypes), and had straight up incorrect information about me including quotes of things that I never said and answers to questions he never asked. During the appointment he went over the report, he told me I was "too funny" to have ASD and implied on many occasions that my IQ was too high and that I was too intelligent to have it. He very firmly believed that the only reason I suspected I had autism was because I had a "low self-worth", and when I pushed back on it he refused to listen. The thing is, I have never viewed Autism negatively. I have older family members with autism who have been very high-functioning, high-achieving individuals with high IQs. And explaining the drawbacks and struggles its caused me never meant I thought I was lesser for it. Realistically it sounds like he is the one who holds a negative view of autism and projected it onto me. He seemed very firm on his own preconception of me despite the fact that it was fundamentally incorrect, and he seemed intent on misunderstanding and warping the things I was telling him. I went home and took a red pen to the report like a school teacher to a child's book report to fix the typos and misinformation. I did weeks of more researching and digging up my moms old logs of milestones and stuff of the like. I asked her questions that might give me even more clarity of my behaviors growing up and also found out she actually almost got me tested as a kid but didn't want me to grow up with a label on me. Instead she sought out and met with an autism specialist off the books for advice for raising me. I made another appointment with him and went back to show him my findings and research and he denied everything I told him for the whole appointment and doubled down on his initial opinion insisting I was wrong. I left that appointment crying as well. His assessment and these encounters with him did very extensive damage to my view of myself as well as my ability to trust myself and my perceptions which has caused a lot of problems in my personal and professional life and given me crippling self-doubt that I'd never experienced up until that point. I've only just recently felt like I've begun to trust myself again enough to write this review. I was diagnosed with ASD last year. It is because of his inattention, factual inaccuracies, seemingly willful misunderstandings of self-reported symptoms, and embarrassingly careless and sloppy written report, that I do not trust the accuracy of any of his interpretations of tests, opinions on my mental health, or diagnoses, nor his abilities as a mental health professional in general. His diagnosis of Bipolar 1 was found incorrect and undiagnosed by other doctors within a year.

The waiting room was beyond uncomfortably loud, overstimulating, and we were left waiting far past our scheduled appointment time. Once we finally got into her office for my daughter's assessment, I quickly realized why the waiting room noise was so intense: Dr. Shishodia speaks so loudly that it borders on yelling, and it absolutely compromises patient privacy. Anyone sitting in the waiting room could easily hear private conversations happening behind closed doors. Today, I called to ask a simple and reasonable question about what information she typically includes in a patient's visit summary. Instead of answering, she became defensive, rude, condescending, and noticeably angry almost immediately. As I tried to calmly explain why I was asking, she continually spoke over me, raised her voice even more, and wouldn't allow me to get a full sentence out. She even insinuated that I was trying to "put her in the middle of two parents," when all I was asking was what general details might appear in her summary of the single appointment she had with my child. At that point, I had to interrupt her to tell her how inappropriate and disrespectful her behavior was. Based on her reaction and the hostility she showed over such a basic question, it's hard to imagine she is taking thorough or accurate patient notes. I have never snapped at a healthcare provider before. I understand the strain on our healthcare system and generally have a high level of patience and empathy. But the way this doctor communicates, both during the appointment and on the phone, is some of the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. Questions about medical records or visit summaries should never be met with confrontation, hostility, or unprofessional behavior. I strongly urge other parents to be aware of this before bringing their children here.

Usually I don't write negative reviews. This is one of the few times I believe a negative review is…read moresorely warranted. Places like this profit off of vulnerable people, when they are at their lowest. It's disgusting the way I was treated as a young adult in the OCD program (might've been a different house than this one, but this review is for the general OCD residential program at Newport Institute). Let me walk you through the awful experience of being here: 1. Right when you arrive, they confiscate all your belongings, throw your clothes in the wash, and all your personal items are taken away and can only be retrieved on request. I thought I was going to a residential treatment facility, not a prison? They never tell you this on the phone when they are trying to get you to come to the program and take your money. 2. The food's pretty awful, especially for vegetarians. Getting accommodations for food is very difficult. 3. Your phone is taken away, and you only get 3 10 minute calls per day to call anyone you want. That's all the contact with the outside world you get. You can "earn" more time, but that's ridiculous. I should be able to contact people without them tearing away my phone from me. 4. You can't leave the house (even for a walk) without one of the staff attending to you. It's like house arrest. 5. They lock EVERYTHING up. Not just knives and sharps (which is odd, because this program is for OCD, not for suicidal people...). But they lock away YOUR HYGIENE supplies, HAND SOAP, plastic bags, and TOILET PAPER. Yes, some people may have OCD around these things, and for them that might be worth it. But for others who don't, this is INCREDIBLY frustrating. 6. The OCD staff is SORELY undertrained. The two therapists at the facility just had a FEW MONTHS of OCD training. That is ridiculous. Residential is the highest level of care for OCD, and they hire newbies to try and deal with them? It's a clear money-grab operation. 7. The staff all wanted to cover their asses and do the thing told to them by their bosses despite the effect on the patients. 8. MOST IMPORTANTLY, they basically lock you up, and make it INCREDIBLY difficult to leave the program for good. I was traumatized by my experience trying to leave. I was having a terrible time there, and I wanted to leave. They told me that they may want me to stay up to several months there??? There was no way I wanted to stay there for several months, so I tried to leave. But they set up all these "invisible" hoops for me to jump through. I couldn't get my phone back (which they lock away) to call an Uber/book a flight to leave because I myself didn't pay for my phone plan (my relatives did). Apparently, that's a rule that is never told to you. They also threatened to call social services to do a suicide safety check with me if I leave, despite me showing no suicidal symptoms while there. I had to covertly get my phone and quickly change it so that I paid for my phone plan before anyone saw. Then, as I was getting ready to leave, my "wonderful" (sarcasm) therapist was extremely pissed off with me, as was majority of the staff. The main people who showed compassion were the OTHER residents, not the staff. That goes to show how screwed up of a place this is. Being here was honestly one of the worst and most scarring experiences of my life. I don't wish this place on anyone. This place wasn't supposed to be an inpatient psych ward where they lock everything up. There's supposed to be a difference between residential treatment and a hospital psych ward. Residential treatment rules are supposed to be more lax, since it's not a place for acute crises (like suicidality) -- psych wards are. But, I guess these people just didn't know or didn't care. If you're looking for residential OCD treatment, DO NOT go here. I would recommend this place in Houston instead: https://ocditexas.com. Another place (that I haven't personally gone to but have heard good things) is McLean Hospital in Boston. They will actually treat you as human beings there. Don't go here, please.
