These people are anything but friendly, in fact, they are downright rude. Every time You walk in the owner greets you with "You call?" Not hello, how are you, but "you call?. Walked in the other day, the son (who must be about 11) was behind the register. He was fiddling with the register for about 10 minutes, never even looked up at me standing waiting at the counter. I figured he's a little kid, so no problem, I'll just wait for the owner to come over. All of a sudden he looks up and says, "You call?" After they greet you with "you call" they make you wait an inordinate amount of time, because even though you called in your order 20 minutes ago, and they told you it would be ready in 20 minutes, and you are there on time, you wind up waiting another 1/2 hour while they hurriedly cook your food. Many times we have stood there with other unhappy customers who are waiting for their food too. We understand when you are busy, just be honest and tell us to come in 40 minutes, don't make us stand there and wait. So after giving Empire Ginger the benefit of the doubt, and going there 10 times or more, and having the same thing happen every time, I am giving up on you. I will not be back, and I will bet a lot of other people are saying the same thing. I will take my Chinese food business elsewhere. To anyone reading this: Hau Po in the Shoprite shopping center is wonderful. Excellent chinese food, and wonderful, friendly owners who greet their customers with a smile and a big welcome. Hau Po appreciates their loyal customers, and their food is just wonderful, and always ready when they say it will be. Note to owner: Wise up. You need a lot of customer service training. You could have very successful business if you only make small changes, focus on good customer service, a warm welcome, appreciation of repeat business, and timely food service. Try it. read more

At 7:15 I ordered two large wanton soups and a boneless rib combination for delivery and they took an hour and a half to get to my house that's two minutes away! Once we received the food; the bag looked like it was dropped and shaken, our order was wrong and the food was cold and pretty bad! Wantons were under cooked and the boneless ribs were burnt it was absolutely horrible and very disappointing. When we called to complain the customer service was appalling when we hung up they called back and tried to argue that they were right and then proceeded to hang up on us. As far as "american" Chinese take out joints go, this is one of the better ones in the Smithtown area. The menu is standard, with quality ingredients. It's usually busy, so if they tell you 10 minutes on the phone, add about 45 to it, usually you are standing around waiting for your order with a number of other people for an hour. One thing to say about empire ginger is that they have been consistently good. Last night we had the usual American Chinese fair, wonton soup, shrimp rolls , pork foo young and the most delicious shrimp chow fun! All was hot fresh tasting and delicious. The serving sizes were huge too. Maybe we were lucky but ordered and picked it up in 15 minutes, no wait at all and I really have never waited long in the many times I have visited. Being Chinese American, I've been eating chinese takeout my entire life and my go to has always been chicken and broccoli. After recently moving to Smithtown and trying this take out place close to home, I am quite disappointed. The food was very very bland with almost no flavor at all. Just ordered delivery from this gem on Maple Ave. What can I say - all 7 people were happy!! Sushi and Chinese - something for everyone! I placed the order online - with comments, received a call to clarify one item and a special request. All professional and exactly as requested. We enjoyed all the meals! Hot food was hot - and delicious! Cold food was cold and scrumptious! All eaten to the last bite (well, except for the planned left-overs!) and delivery was fast and well done. Beyond horrible customer service!!!! I'm not one to shame on people and there business but this one needs to be heard. My office and I normally order from this Chinese food place once or twice a week and we are always spending a good amount of money but today no more. Today we ordered and the women who took the order was beyond rude and was not listening to any of our orders and we should have not even went forward, but when our food arrived and we were checking everything, 4 of the items were completely wrong. So when we called back the place the women yet again was so rude telling us we messed up and were wrong and she won't replace the items and if we really wanted the food than we have to go there and return the items meanwhile we told her we couldn't leave work hence the reason why we got delivery. She hung the phone up on me 3 times while I was talking, she had a horrible attitude and we will never be going back to this place again. I do not recommend this place at all. Places are suppose to have good customer service. Instead we got screamed at and was told we are wrong. I placed an order over the phone couldn't find my card to pay right away receptionist was breathing hard saying oh my gosh hello are you ready now? It wasn't even a minute. The Chinese food is very good. Chicken satay, pan friend dumplings and the chicken dumpling soup are some of my favorites while my mother orders the pineapple shrimp dinner every time . The one negative is the service especially Thursday-Sunday. They take way too long especially on deliveries while sometimes mistakes in the order. I absolutely love the food here. They now have Chinese and Japanese food! The portions are huge and you're always getting more than you paid for. Food is delicious and is always ready quickly. I don't order from anywhere else. They also have a great customer loyalty program once you spend $100 you get a meal free. $100 seems like a lot but $10 here and $15 there adds up and the card doesn't expire. this Chinees food place sucks ordered take out delivery , called to place my order women was to busy to listen to me Rushed my order put me on Hold . Waited 45 mins for delivery order came food tasted like shit !! Entire order wrong , when i called to ask about what happen she said she would replace waited 2 hors numerous phone calls and they never help up there part I wasted $40 I wound up calling for Pizza I don't mind the mix up but if your going to operate a restaurant you need to be able to speak some English and get the order correct ! The best Chinese Take-Out in Smithtown, hands down! I've been going here for 5 years and they're always on point with the food. Granted, you may have to wait a little longer than the 10-15 minute time they tell you on the phone, but the food is worth the wait. When you get there and your food is not ready, just tell yourself: "Serenity Now!" and chill. When you get your food home and start enjoying it, you'll understand why you'll keep going back to them. Been a customer for years tonight that ended. Was served a scallion pancake so over fried and clearly destroyed I did bother trying to get my dog to take a piece. I just had their food tonight, wow! great! The dumpling is very tasty.

Placed a delivery order and was told 20 minutes. After an hour, I called to tell them I d be happy to pick up the food if they are having a busy night. They told me the driver left 10 minutes ago. Ten minutes later, I called back and was told the driver left 5 minutes ago, and that she would give him a call, and call me right back. After not hearing back from her 10 minutes later, I went to get pizza. While I was gone, I got a call from them saying the driver was in front of my house, and that I was responsible for half-cost of the meal. I told her absolutely not- She couldn t comprehend why I wasn t paying or taking the food (which was probably an hour and a half old at this point), nor did she offer any type of apology or explanation- after making no effort to call me back, after I called them twice, and even offered to pick up the food myself. Mistakes happen, and delivery food is delayed sometimes- I get it- but how about some customer appreciation- it is us the customer that keep your establishment open!
