Review: Friday, August 16; 6:30pm Upon arriving, I noticed that the decor was a little mix-mashed and a tad unappealing. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and quick, and of course, spoke Chinese, so it was somewhat hard to understand them on certain occasions, but they were helpful. I went up to the buffet, and had a heck of a hard time finding steamed rice. So I just stuck to the hundred' flavors chicken, and honey chicken. It was well prepared, and very delicious! After I was already full, I found the rice hidden in a crockpot on the side of the buffet. As depressed as I was (I love rice!) I went to get dessert. The dessert buffet is bigger than the food buffet and has a hearty selection to. I went to the ice cream cart and got Chocolate Chip Ice cream. It tasted great, and filled me up. I overall rate this place 3.75 stars. At the end they gave us fortune cookies with our bill. read more

"A" for effort. Hot & Sour soup was nice with good mix of ingredients but not as hot or sour as I like. Both kind of Egg rolls very adequately stuffed but wish they had a duck sauce. only had the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken, not the same. Fried dumpling, crab wrapped in bacon, string beans, shrimp and mushrooms, peanut chicken, the fried shrimp and teriyaki chicken were all excellent. I tried to have one bite of everything then go back for what i liked best, but after the first round I was too full to go back. I like very spicy dishes so thankfully they offered hot sauce for my tastes. Everything was very clean and they were prompt in removing dirty dishes. Great and large dessert choices. They had 8 flavors of ice cream, though I wish they offered one flavor of sherbet read more

This is your standard issue Chinese buffet, food is decent some items better than others and selection is pretty good. Staff are friendly and efficient, bathroom, lobby, table and buffet appeared clean during all recent visits. Dinner is priced reasonably at $16 and $3 for soft drinks. read more

ROACHES and DISRESPECT I was here with my new family, when we found a headless roach in a glass of water. The staff immediately acted confused like she pretended to not understand - then she has the AUDACITY to retrieve the small child that was there, and he instantly started saying "chocolate" and they took it and just brought new silverware... Then I approached the woman at the counter- she got the little boy and made him say "chocolate" as well... So they're using the little boy as a sort of scapegoat for when they have roach complaints, like a shield. Absolutely PATHETIC. Like I'm not supposed to be mad just because they push the little boy into the problem? Keep the kid out of it. Disgusting, that upset me more than the roach. The woman at the counter offered a 10% discount for ONE meal. I told her this was unacceptable, she shrugged her shoulders. I told her I was going to file a report and she literally smiled and laughed. I was going to leave without paying, but the family was afraid of getting in trouble. When my mother in law approached the woman, she pointed at me and said she doesn't trust me! Excuse me!? I've been a customer here for many years, since I was 9-10, and I'm now 30. I've never complained, even when things weren't great. I've always tipped well and even paid for to-go boxes. This was my favorite place to go with my mom before she died 10 years ago... But no, I'm not coming back. I thought people complaining about roaches and rude staff were being racist.... Nah. My bad. You're absolutely right. Why am I so angry? Well, I used to love this place... This is where I met my husband, where my mom and I always went before she died, this was the BEST reward/treat when I was a child... But now, with how I was treated, I can't really go back again. I've been a customer since they opened, about 20 years ago or so. But you want to say you don't trust me, call me a liar, shrug your shoulders and laugh at me... And worst of all, use your child as a shield- no. This whole ordeal left me so disgusted (the reaction more than the roach) and embarrassed. They have enough people come in on a regular basis, surely they can afford to get rid of the roaches. Really more of a 4 star but I'm giving 5 to bump them up a little. Lots of people saying the staff was rude. Incorrect. The staff is polite but guarded. Mostly because it's clear they get lots of awful customers who are incredibly rude. I eat in here at least 2-3 times a month and get take out around once a week so I see it constantly. People actually yelling at the staff and making rude comments. Anyone who treats them politely is treated the same. The reports of roaches and bugs and rats? Never seen it and I know personally of two reports that turned out to be outright lies. Their rating is an A and they have earned it. Food is solid. Not awesome but solid. The few exceptions are excellent soups, coconut shrimp (dinner only), fish nuggets (lunch only), and an amazing ice cream bar. My kid LOVES this place and she's super picky. Somehow in the few times that i've eaten here, I haven't gotten sick, because the place is filthy. But it took me awhile to find another Chinese buffet to fill their spot. Let me just say, unsanitary conditions and who truly knows what we are eating. The health department really needs to keep an eye on this one. From the outside, it looks like a nice place to stop, but looks can be deceiving. Otherwise, I've always enjoyed the selection of food and the flavors. Wait staff, although not friendly, which could be due to the language barrier, has always been mindful to keep my drinks refilled. The food was just god awful as well the spring rolls were old and hard as a rock and the chicken was slimy and chewy I actually gagged. There was another guy asking for water refills and he sighed really heavily with attitude very monotone asking if you wanted water as if you were an inconvience to be there. As we were leaving the 12 year old rung us out and saw we were paying with coins so she rolled her eyes and counted the money and literally threw the left over change back in my friends hands. Empire Buffet review 6.17.13 Intro: Greeted and seated quick. Buffet food quality update: Not as good as last month when I went there. The salmon was dry and hard (it's supposed to be creamy and cheesy and melt in your mouth). The Clams tasted soapy and overcooked. The Crab Salad was too gluey feeling and tasted kinda soapy. The sushi tasted a bit soapy. The only decent thing I had was the cheesy shrooms. I was appaled that the quality went down. Also some of the meat looked like it sat out a long time and did not look appetizing. Bathroom cleanliness: Made me loose my appetite. One of the toilets didn't flush since there was a sign that said to not put TP in the toilet. You had to use the trash and it was really nasty. This is also the place where the employees use the bathroom so that does not make one confident in the staff's preparation of food. Disgusting. Also the sink had low pressure and the nozzle does not go far out enough so your hands touch more germy surfaces. This is only the second time I had to use the bathroom in this place and the first time it was not this bad. The air hand dryer was worthless so I had to grab TP to dry my hands. Service: Ok. Not friendly but not mean or rude. Refills came at an ok pace. Overall: It's going downhill and this visit was not very pleasant. Lowering rating to 1.8 stars for this visit. Recommended: Not at this time. They may have had a bad day but the bathroom stuff was inexcusable. read more

This is a place to avoid in Marietta no matter what type of food you are searching for. This "Chinese" restaurant offers such authentic Chinese dishes as onion rings, bbq chicken on a stick, and fried okra, among other offerings. However, that is the proverbial tip of the iceberg for this dump. The food is lukewarm at best and is basically flavorless. The service is almost nonexistent, especially when one wants to pay the bill and leave. I just ate there today and wound up with a stomachache as I left the establishment. Empire Buffet is by far and away one of, if not the worst restaurants in Marietta. Choose China Fun instead, where the food is hot and fresh. Avoid Empire Buffet - you'll be glad you did. read more

I just want to say, this place deserves Atleast a 4 star review I'm only leaving a 5 to bump this place up a little. From my personal opinion I go here all the time with my friends for a quick and super cheap meal. It's all you can eat for 12$ with a drink around 10$ without a drink or with a free water! The food here is good. It's not amazing but when you come here when they first open or lunch time everything is super fresh! And delicious. I love coming here the staff is super friendly for the most part. It's hard to understand some of them but that's understandable and expected at a place like this they don't speak very good English! But the waiters are super friendly and bring drinks and take plates quickly never had a bad experience here! read more

I read some of the other reviews below and I guess some people are very picky. I've eaten here for years and always thought the food was very good. The staff is nice and polite. Went here on Christmas Day and our whole family of 8 got sick the next two days, the only thing edible was the chicken for sweet and sour chicken and the white rice, the place looked dirty and ran down. They can't even fix the sign out front, that should've been our first clue read more

Any other time in the past , I'd be more positive , which would be good that gets me sick , But the recent trip problems in order usually the staff doesn't mind a request to sit closer to the buffett this time when the person that was seating us when they put us far from the buffett and we asked to be closer to the buffet they acted rudely like we were committing a crime by asking , they had the temp at an uncomfortable 65 degrees it was freezing , I was close enough at my seat to adjust myself so I did , and they came out and dropped it down only eskimos would find that temp comfortable , and according to my dad when I went to ladies room, he was cutting the yoke out of....some egg thing he was eating he doesn't eat the yoke for health reasons , a waiter or waitress ....like I said I was there smacked his hand away I don't know about my dad but if he ever goes back and I am with him I am walking to the closest other restaurant to eat, it was really poor service , by a bunch of morons. read more

The Honey Chicken was out of this world. May have been the best meal I've eaten in years. The gift shop only adds to the pleasurable environment. Also, the films playing on the televisions depict tranquil and heartwarming imagery. I highly recommend this for any anniversary or romantic outing. Its just plain fun. The sushi is something to avoid I'm not quite sure what is going on with it but if you like your stomach stay away. The service is spot on with clean tables and prompt service and the selection is very good although I wish the had more Chinese food options and fewer American options or at least put all the American options on one side. Decent as far as Chinese buffet's go, but the service kinda sucks, every time you go to the buffet, there's a kitchen worker either shoving a noisy cart full of plates in your way, almost running you over, or, there's a worker practically stepping on your toes trying to stir something. on a lighter note, the food is great and the beverages are nice and refilled fairly quickly. also, they have a buffet to go, which is pretty cool read more

Have gone down hill, so sad, The food a year ago was much better then has been the two times we as a family ate there. My husband and I had peanut chicken and both felt sick later that evening, another family member went there for dinner two days later and ended up in the er 24 hours later with food poisoning, granted we cannot be sure it was because of this restaurant, but seemed kinda "fishy" considering two days prior my hubby and i had been sick after eating there, the decor is awful and out dated, staff is hard to understand, They were pleasant enough, and did seat us right away, and brought our drinks right away, my family and I will not be returning. read more
