The Spot to Eat - Pork Fries were delicious!

This is one of those "don't knock it till you try it" moments from me or whatever you want to call…read moreit. For months I've seen The Spot To Eat truck parked next to the VA office on Palms Airport Drive for almost every other day for lunch. I couldnt find any Yelp listings and never thought of looking on Facebook. Until today when something in the office smelt good and I couldn't figure where it was coming from. At the truck, its a trailer pulled around by a truck, all the pictures and descriptions just blew my mind, I was excited and upset that it took me so long to finally try it. I saw and even smelt their Buffalo Chicken Salad and I wanted one but held off. I started asking other's what their favorites were and went with Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich and Crack Fries. It was delicious on its own and only $7 ($6 for the sandwich and $1 if you add fries). It was a fried chicken with Teriyaki sauce, pineapple, tomato, lettuce, and wasabi mayo between a roll, I mixed up some deli mustard and sriracha and added to the sandwich. Did I have a smile on my face? Yes. Ordering fries on their own are $3 and ordering almost any sandwich or burgers are $6. Delicious looking gourmet burgers at a reasonable price. Their trailer has a TV with sound. I usually see them during lunch at the VA Office near the airport but follow them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/thespottoeat and Twitter https://twitter.com/TheSpotToEat to see all their pictures, menu, and where there going to be. You wont be disappointed.

After weeks of stalking them on social media, I finally got a chance to try Son of a Pig at the…read morerecent Asian Night Market. The food lived up to the hype, given that they're related to local foodie favorite Truffles & Bacon Cafe. Unfortunately, there are some logistical and organizational kinks- but these are likely just due to being a new truck and perhaps not doing as many events. FOOD: Menu available at ANM was a choice of two sliders paired with a side (fries or tots), and a Spam Fries app. I liked how the food orders were on display on a table in front of the truck, and they also had infused teas available. The Signature Slider is topped with a square of fried mac and bacon jam, which made it a definite indulgence. The toppings were good but it was still noticeable that the beef of the burger itself was not seasoned. The tots on the side were crusted with Parmesan and garlic, and were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Very good execution for the limitations of a truck, and out fairly fast! SERVICE: They were friendly and helpful, and as I said, the food was plated and on display. But they did not have a posted menu up, which caused confusion with people not knowing what was available or prices. They also had a POS issue at one point, and didn't seem to have cash available as a backup. The staff were nice and food came out fast, but things seemed hectic even early on in the night before it got busy. With more time, this will probably be alleviated.

I caught up with them at Downtown Event Center and had the signature slider with truffle tots. The slider was delicious. A perfect mini version of the original. Tots and truffle..whats not to love? Hope to see this truck out more often.
