Empanada is baked crispy, very light and soft, inside has kernel corn with melted cheese, finely chopped onions, and red pepper, served with yummy chimichurri sauce. I tried Mini Sweet Empanaditas (3 pieces, $5) and chose Guava Paste & Cream Cheese, amazingly delicious! It has a lovely sweetness, exterior is delicate and crispy, airy and fluffy with yummy guava paste and cream cheese, so good! It's nice they come in threes. Other empanaditas flavor include quince paste, dulce de leche, and sweet potato. Service from Denisse is welcoming, courteous, and friendly! I like the mini empanaditas, they're a good bite-size, very light snack, and a terrific treat!

I'm surprised at how few their review count is, despite their appearances at such events as the Great American Foodie Fest, Sunset Park'd, and a Yelp Elite Event. The former two are sometimes derided for overpriced and lackluster food, which is true for some places. However, they impressed people including yours truly at the latter, which is why I was so glad to find them in the wild today. Well, "the wild" in this case is the inaugural running of a weekly food truck gathering at the Total Wine & More on Las Vegas Blvd (near Fry's / Town Square), and it's more like a ring of about ten trucks/trailers/vans showed up and these guys were in the thick of it. I knew that they'd be among the best, so I couldn't pass them up as I regrettably did at other food truck events. The man running front of house (or outside of truck, in this case) gave me a brief tour of some of their menu. I went for his favorite after finding out that I could get two different meat choices. My order of patacones ($8 for two) came out within perhaps 5 minutes still plenty hot, but I eagerly dug in to these creations of meat, cheese, and sauces sandwiched between fried, crispy plantains. That crispness stands out first and foremost. It's not a hard crunch, and it yields something substantial in your mouth that texturally reminded me of some chicken skins that I'd recently had. Speaking of which, the meats are no slouch. The pork was great, but the shredded beef was surprisingly juicy and rich in flavor. And the slew of sauces was complementary and not overwhelming, although some areas were less sauced. Fortunately, I soon noticed that they had squeeze bottles including one that contained more of that ubiquitous green cilantro sauce. Ask for them. They're important. I'm definitely going to revisit Mr. Cooker soon. I definitely need to try their arepas, empanadas, pepitos, and perhaps one day a traditional certain comestible, if they ever source the right corn and cheese to craft the recipe to their liking. Their most popular options are the steak, chicken, and ground beef empanadas. They offer them in two different ways, savory or traditional Peruvian. The Traditional Peruvian Style includes olives and raisins inside, that's what differentiates the savory from the traditional. They have a combo meal for 1, 2, or 3 empanadas that come with your choice of 1 or 2 sides (rice, beans, potatoes, or french fries). The most requested side is rice and beans. I ordered Meatlovers Pizza ($4.50) which is their Empanada of the Month for August. The empanada is beautifully baked to a golden crisp, inside has seasoned ground beef, pork sausage, pepperoni, melted mozzarella, and pizza sauce. It even came with a side of pizza sauce for dipping, it's great! For dessert, I tried Cheesecake Empanada ($4.50) and requested plain cheesecake. It's only available as a fried empanada, and made perfectly golden crispy, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, so yummy, not too sweet, and delightful! They also have other cheesecake empanada flavors that are worth a try, such as strawberry, white chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, guava, chocolate, and pumpkin. One example being their pork belly taco; was quoted as a higher price in person versus what it says on their website. Speaking of which the pork belly tacos and fish tacos I had were almost inedible. They were both deep fried and were just overly fried/cooked. The pork belly to the point of a almost "carbon" state. Besides the poorly cooked pork belly no other distinguished flavors came through. There was some type of sweet sauce and kimchee slaw but I couldn't tell you how either tasted since everything was so muddled in flavor. The fish tacos were equally as bad. The fish pieces were so small and heavily coated, I couldn't taste the flesh, on top of the previously mentioned state of being overly cooked. The "fish nuggets" had no moisture to them. I could some-what taste a heat/spice component with these tacos, but once again, no real distinguished flavors to where I could easily identify the other toppings. There was a patron next to me who got his own pair of tacos and he agreed with my overcooked and dry sentiment. He mentioned he was happy being at a brewery since there was beer available to wash down the dry food. This meal was a complete waste of money. The Thai is dusted in corn starch which makes it crispy and the asada comes with a kimchi onions good twist. The tuna poke is very fresh on a hot summer day. Definitely try that.
