There is seating outside, which is perfect for beautiful, sunny days; but the interior is set up more like a small shopping mart. You pick up a cart and get down to business mixing and matching treats to your flavor profile. I recommend visiting 3-4 times to become more familiar with the offerings as well as to give yourself some grace to try new things. I love that they have packaged treats and gemstones you can hand pick from the window case - this gives newbies a chance to ask questions and order to their hearts content without committing to the unknown. My next visit I'm trying another drink option and pivoting to the savory selection; they don't have the hot case for nothing! The women who were here are so nice and attentive, they're helpful in explaining what things are and what to expect from the pastries. They're also great multitaskers, holding down the café, whilst keeping things in stock, staying on top of bulk orders and tending to the stores needs. Napakahusay

It might be even better if they added a few raisins to it. We'll be back for this item periodically. We also tried a mango float ($6). It was good, and had more whipped cream in it than the one I'm used to, but I've probably had slightly better examples. For $6, it's not a great value: smaller than the cinnamon roll and not as good. I might get it again, but probably not at that price. This remains one of my favorite bakeries in town, and we'll be back periodically. Update: We tried another cinnamon roll. This time we thought it was fantastic, the best thing I've eaten in a long time. 25 seconds microwaved again. We'll have to get one periodically.

For the ham and cheese tostada I could stop in every day. That bread is so heavenly. Crisp on the outside and soft a d fluffy inside. It soaks up the flavors from the ham and gives it the most delightful taste. Normally I like some kind of condiment on a sandwich but the way the ham flavors the bread leaves that tostada needing nothing at all. It is perfection. I paired it with a cafe bombon for a little treat. If you have t tried their cafe bombon you must. A shot of espresso over condensed milk is just what the coffee addict ordered. Service-10/10. It's counter service here but they don't just serve you and forget you. After bringing my coffee she noticed I didn't have napkins so went and got them for me. She brought my food later and brought me more napkins and checked to see if I needed anything else. They were so hospitable from the moment I entered until the moment I left. Atmosphere-10/10. I love the decor here. It's gives an open and welcoming vibe and is so bright and airy feeling. It invites you to sit down and enjoy your meal without rush and to sit and chat a bit while having a cafe and snacking a bit.

The beef empanadas were delicious! Full of flavor. The kids turkey and cheese sandwich was ok, cheese wasn't really melted and bread wasn't very good. The carrot cake wasn't very good either; way too dense and dry.

PALERMO PUERTO RICAN... UN AMOR PROHIBIDO…read more Ay, Dios mío... I walked into Palermo Puerto Rican in Florida thinking I was simply going to have dinner. Pero NO. What happened that day was something much more dangerous... I fell in love. I ordered the Christmas Plate, and the moment it arrived at the table, I froze. Pork. Arroz con gandules. Pasteles. Plátanos maduros. I whispered... "No puede ser..." One bite, and suddenly I wasn't in Florida anymore. I was back in Puerto Rico during Las Navidades. I could almost hear the coquí, the music, the laughter of family, and somebody in the distance yelling, "¡Dale, que llegó la comida!" The pork was tender and full of flavor. The arroz con gandules tasted like Christmas memories on a plate. The pasteles... AY, LOS PASTELES! I wasn't emotionally prepared. And those sweet plátanos maduros came into my life like the forbidden lover my mother warned me about. I looked at my plate and said: "¡¿POR QUÉ?! ¿POR QUÉ TUVE QUE CONOCERTE AHORA?" Because this wasn't dinner anymore. ESTO ERA AMOR PROHIBIDO. Every bite brought back memories of Puerto Rican Christmases--the food, the family, the music, the alegría, the traditions. It was nostalgia, happiness, heartbreak and romance all served on one plate. And when the last bite was gone... I stared at the empty plate like the final scene of a telenovela. "No te vayas... todavía tenemos una vida juntos." Palermo Puerto Rican, you didn't just feed me. You took me home. And now our love may be complicated... it may be dangerous... it may even be forbidden... PERO VOLVERÉ. Because some loves are simply too powerful to forget. ¡QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO, QUE VIVA LA NAVIDAD... Y QUE VIVA ESTE AMOR PROHIBIDO!
