I have done more than 5 to 7 refinances with emortgages and have always found them to be the low cost provider. However, when I double checked my closing statement, I discovered they scammed me out of ~$450 of fees. I challenged them on it and said I was mistaken. I created a reconciliation and then they admitted that they charged me fees and stated that we had never agreed to a true no cost loan (which unfortunately for me, I built up trust with them over the years and did not get proof in writing of the agreement). In short, they are a low cost provider, but untrustworthy. I am in the mortgage business, and I know I was scammed. It's one thing to lie once by slipping in multi $100 charges, its another to lie about it time and time again in an attempt afterwords to cover up the trail. Would I use them again....No..Unfortunately, you can't trust them. Period. That being said, they are "cheap" and efficient. Just watch your back. Use at your OWN RISK (which is good advice for any mortgage broker, btw). In my experience, one is never better off doing business with an unscrupulous or unethical counter-parties, regardless of the perceived savings. read more

We recently completed our REFI of our primary home loan with emortgages.com. We live in Bay area and wanted to deal with LOCAL guys. emortgages.com was referred to us by my co worker ,who has done successful multiple refinances with them. Last week our conforming loan was funded and we're delighted to lock in the lowest possible 30 years fixed rate at no cost to us. As good as it gets. My husband and I decided to refinance our mortgage last summer and first contacted DLJ Financial (located in Irvine, CA), but, after some time wasted on inefficient communication, missed deadlines and erroneous documents, all a result of dealing with one of their mortgage brokers (please see my other review for more details), we ended up calling Emortgages.com and never regretted it. Theresa Figone, our loan officer, was simply amazing to work with. She stayed on top of the process and made it very smooth and enjoyable. She even stopped by our house (which was very much out of her way) to meet us in person and have us sign the paperwork. Speaking of great customer service.. If that doesn't make you feel like you are a valued customer, I don't know what else will. Theresa answered all of our questions, explained all of the options, provided us with very accurate information, gave us some helpful tips, and was simply a pleasure to work with. I have done a few mortgages with emortgages.com in the past and have referred numerous people to them. This last attempt at a refinance was an utter disaster. Application started May 3, 2013. By July 31, 2013, the lender they had locked the rate with, and I suspect at favorable fees to them, decided they do not lend on our type of property. The interest rates have changed so much that it is not feasible to do the refinance now. No apologies, no contingent plan and a lack of due diligence on their part. Use at your own risk! read more
