Stopped here on a snowmobile ride out of the Walker area (trails were great, but that's not the purpose of this review). I pulled up and instantly knew I'd love this place. Very "Mayberry RFD-ish" (google it if you're too young to get the reference). Small cafe attached to a small general store and bar with gas pumps outside. What more could you ask for? Cafe was closed because I got there at an odd time, but the lady behind the register (who turned out to be the owner) said she had some options for me to eat in the bar area. One of them happened to be the best Tater Tot hot dish I've ever had (and I've had a few). Very snowmobile friendly with helmet racks and glove/hat dryer system (hanger in front of heater... Nothing fancy). I am going back today to try out the cafe and some of their homemade soup that I hear is the best ever also. read more

To clarify: telling someone they cannot bring their dogs into a business is, in fact, refusing service! My dogs were harnessed and attached to a running leash system designed for pulling while running. Moving quickly through a very small storefront while attached to a runner is not the same thing as being "out of control," especially when we intentionally made every effort to get in and out quickly to avoid disruption. Part of that urgency was also due to your reactive dog loose in the storefront (seems contradictory to your policy), which understandably increased the need to move through the space quickly and calmly. What I found most disappointing was the assumption that my dogs were not service animals without ever asking the legally appropriate questions. The claim that offering to hold my dogs was simply "helpful" also misses the point! That would not be considered appropriate judgment for service dogs. Businesses absolutely have the right to establish policies, but those policies should be clearly communicated and consistently applied rather than based on assumptions after multiple prior visits without issue! Hinting at something is not the same as policy. Furthermore, it is the business owners responsibility to make known such policy. My intention in sharing this is not to debate the situation further, but to provide feedback that may help prevent similar misunderstandings for other guests. read more

We stayed in a motel room for a four wheeling weekend. The room was great! The shower was beautiful, fresh and everything was very clean! It is great to unload four wheelers and the trails are right there! We snagged some great deals on some sweatshirts that are super cute, too. The owners came over to ask if we needed anything and visited for a bit with us. We will be back. read more

Was staying nearby (Wambolt's Cabins) with my 14-year-old for a dad/son weekend. This place was the closest breakfast, so we gave it a shot the first morning. And then we ate there the following morning, and then the morning after. We loved it. Its a combination convivence store, gas station, restaurant, hotel, and a cabin for rent. We frequented the restaurant and the convenience store. Great breakfast staples (we munched breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, cinnamon and caramel rolls). It was all good. The servers are a fun combination of salty and friendly. I can tell there are likely busy times but we were fortunate and never had to wait for a table. Great experience here, recommend you stop by. read more

Chris, Robin & George please come back! Dayna and Mike don't have any customer service or the personality to run this quaint place. IT will be destroyed by their lack of customer service. My sister and I have been coming here for many years this is the first year we had to rent for 2 nights instead of one. We had to pay in advance the price was what we would have paid staying in a hotel in Minneapolis w/queen beds and plenty or towels. We got the usual full beds with 1 towel for the two of us. We also had to park on the hill and walk up because a boat and truck were parked in front of the hotel blocking our entry into the room we were given. When asked if they would ask them to move the boat, which could have been parked down by the store we were told we could just walk around it. We are in our 70's pretty convenient for use to do carrying luggage. Too bad we didn't feel very welcomed as we had in the past by Chris, Robin and George and we probably won't be coming back any more as they don't have any other amenities to justify the amount of money they are asking for the rooms. There isn't a lake at the resort, no swimming pool, only the little store. The food was good when Chris, George and Robin were there but this time we didn't bother to eat there we had already had enough of the lack of customer service we didn't want to even spend any more money than we already had. We have heard other stories from the local people as we know people in the area and is sounds like this isn't anything unusual for this couple who purchase the place in February. They may be hurting come fall when tourist season ends. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are desperate and there isn't any other place to go the only reason we chose it was because we had great times there before with previous owners and my nephew lives up the road from there but the new owners didn't do anything to impress us this time. Pretty sad when your are new to the area and trying to build a business. getting to know the people in the area and building a trust with them is a good idea because they are your customers right now and bring in other customers. They help build your clientele and in that area they are pretty important to your business. read more

A group of eight of us stopped by on Sunday morning for breakfast. The place was busy but the service and food was exceptional and prices were very reasonable. Arrive with a big appetite since portions are generous. The sweet rolls are fabulous as stated in other reviews we read. The pancakes are yummy and monstrous; be sure to order them with their large and numerous blueberries! Our entire crew was extremely satisfied with the meal. The business is clean and well maintained, and it's conveniently located a short drive from Park Rapids. They have a well stocked gift shop, small bar and gas pumps in addition to a few cabins to rent. Give them a try...you'll be glad you did! read more

This place is everything all in one...Gas Station, Motel, Cabins, Campground, Bar, Restaurant, Grocery Store/Convenience Store. We stopped for breakfast last year, and came back again this year. I think I had the #5 on the classic breakfast menu, and my wife had an omelette...and both were good. She really enjoyed her wild rice toast. My son had the special of the day which was a Blueberry pancake with an egg and bacon for a really good price. Coffee was a bit strong, but we were able to tame it with some cream and sugar at the table. Check paying was a bit of a struggle {it got SUPER busy just as we were finishing with only one girl taking care of the whole place}. But all in all a good trip, good food, and nice Northwoods atmosphere. read more

Called to place a take out order around 1:45 and they refused to take the order stating the kitchen had already closed even though the listed hours say close at 2. Completely unprofessional, when you have posted hours you should acknowledge them, poor business practice. read more

I have been going to emmaville once a year since I was a kid, it used to be a mom and pop shop where you could get amazing breakfast. It was a staple of my yearly Minnesota trip. I would get excited about going to the smallest town in Minnesota. However I am not sure who owns the store now because it is not what I remember. The staff was rude, conceded and disrespectful. I brought my newborn son and we grabbed a high chair that did not fit his car seat and the waitress without asking just tells me to move him off the chair and brings in a wooden stool to set the seat on...saying the high chair was not safe, but a wooden stool to set a movable car seat is....I held my tongue and moved the car seat to the floor where he would not fall. Then I realized I needed his milk to be placed somewhere cold and asked if we could place it in a fridge and she started getting snappy with me saying it's not FDA approved and kept getting rude with me. Absolutely loved this tiny little gem! It's a great little restaurant connected to a small gas station/gift shop/etc. type store which was lovely to explore. Food was good, service was excellent. Only complaint is the orange juice tasted a little bland but overall I'd come back :) read more

We first came here and they were closed, but gave us directions to another fantastic place, so we decided to come back when they were open (closes at 2 PM). We had lunch, and while their menu was limited, our sandwiches were good, fresh and the hospitality great. A jewel in this tiny village. The service was incredible. We had our 2 year old grandson with us and he was greeted with a high chair and several toys. The owner takes time to greet all of her customers. We had breakfast here twice. Each breakfast was prepared to perfection. Bacon, spinach feta omelet, quiche, cranberry wild rice bread (made on site), cinnamon roll, rhubarb pie...all homemade. The eggs were done to order. The food was plated beautifully and garnished with fresh fruit. I was totally surprised to find such high quality in this tiny town, population 4. I consider this a destination restaurant if you are vacationing near Itasca Park or Park Rapids, MN. read more

My wife and I have eaten in just about every restaurant between Park Rapids and Walker and this is probably the best of all. The food is always prepared just right and service is always great. I think the desserts are homemade and if they're not, they sure taste like they are. There's a lot of attention to detail in their food. I don't think they skimp on ingredients nor do I think they buy frozen and microwave it. It's actually a very surprising place. The staff is really great too! We drive miles out of our way to eat there but it's worth it. read more
