She diagnosed two major health issues that other doctors missed, one being a severe gut infection where they wanted to remove my gall bladder. It was not my gall bladder at all, I had a stomach infection!!!! Once she treated this, I had no pain...and I still have my gallbladder! I also had a genetic mutation I was unaware of wreaking havoc on my body, all the other doctors told me there was nothing wrong with me. She found it, treated it, and all symptoms are gone now. As a woman, I was so frustrated with mainstream care, healthcare providers not listening to me, symptoms worsening, and feeling just plain awful physically. Dr. Jarvela has helped me to treat my hormonal issues, lose weight, identify nutrient deficiencies, and help me feel better. This guy has helped me more than anyone else, including well, everyone. When you're not sick but just dealing with all the little naggy crap related to aging, well... Some of you know how it is. The staff is courteous and respectful. Katie, the office manager, is sweet and always helpful & CJ, the resident MA, gives the best jab this side of the pond. Soon I'll be starting neurofeedback with Dr. Shannon to try to eliminate my migraines, a malady that only developed in the last 5 years. How is that even possible? I'll let you know how it goes. I can't say enough about Dr. Reynolds, his staff, and Oregon Natural Medicine. So if you get the chance, choose them & say enough yourselves.

I've been loyal to Dr. Dunlap (whom I adore); however, since Dr.Dunlap left the practice, the service has been abominable. Terrible. Rude. I just called because I received a bill. This was odd because I have called no less than 12 times since receiving this procedure and no one has ever mentioned a bill. That makes sense because before I left their office from this very same procedure, I paid in full as out of pocket. Granted, today is Labor Day, so my intention was to not work, but I wanted to follow-up on the miscommunication. I followed the prompts on the message and called the number provided for the office manager, Kim. I've known Kim for years. She knows me. During this call Kim literally yelled at me for calling her on a holiday. Ummmmmmm.... what? I explained that I was merely following the prompts and if they wanted to not receive calls on a holiday -- don't answer. She hung up on me. To Kim's credit she did call back crying about 15 minutes later, and apologized. Ok. I told her we could follow-up during the week. UPDATE: I am now in October and I returned Kim's voicemail. Immediately I was queried about emails and voicemails she'd sent to me. I explained that I missed one, got one, and that is why I was following-up now. When I asked why I'd received a bill after nearly a year has passed, I was told to speak to Dr.Hudson's sister the co-owner. After waiting about 5 minutes, I was greeted by a woman whom I'd never met and who immediately cut me off when I began to engage in questions about several issues that had gone severely wrong with their office. She was combative, acerbic, & rude. I can understand why Kim was crying. I would too if I had to work there. I explained that I could see this was going nowhere, I was hanging up, & I couldn't be more disappointed with their service. Something has gone drastically wrong over there. After choosing my insurance specifically so that I would be able to continue with Dr.Dunlap & that clinic, I will now never ever return nor suggest the clinic, even to frenemies. Instead I would encourage any woman in the NW to go up the street to Joya. They're SO MUCH MORE PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH! I hope A Woman's Time figures out that patients are the core of their business and pleasant conversation, even about things like billing, needn't be so challenging. The impression I received was that I should consider myself lucky to be there at all & regardless of what my Dr. has told me, they will demand payment whenever they damned well please. Thanks for housing Dr.Dunlap for so long guys! Sorry your front desk staff is so scattered. You've completely messed up my medical billings and been jerks when I tried to figure out why and what exactly your reasoning was. I will never return as a patient. There is only one area where I could see that someone might consider an opportunity for improvement and that's scheduling. I left her office worried that I had this heart condition. I went to another provider who didn't hear what Julie heard, who ordered an expensive heart test to clarify the diagnosis. My insurance company would not authorize payment because I had no heart symptoms. I just had to live with the anxiety. Recently I had some heart tests as part of a study and I learned I do not have/never had the condition that Julie diagnosed. In the same appointment Julie prescribed an alternative medication for another concern. There's a standard treatment, but she said she preferred the alternative. I had a severe reaction, never mentioned as a possibility when Julie recommended it. I didn't know if my reaction would lessen over time, if I should stop taking the medicine, lower the dose, or what, so I called her for advice. She explained that her policy is to charge pts for every minute she speaks on the phone with them. I couldn't see paying her for every conversation we might have while we figured out the correct dose of the alternative medication. I found a new provider.

The one who I read had openings was not my first choice, so I was led to believe that another doctor, whose online bio appealed to me, would be shown the form I filled out and I'd get a response. So, I never got a response. I called in June to remind her and was told "the doctor was on vacation" blah blah blah. She promised she would show the doctor my inquiry and I'd hear back either way. This didn't happen. That conversation was on June 5th and it is now over a month later. I give up on this practice. How can you be offering "concierge" medicine which is supposed to devote extra time to patients and completely ignore a potential new patient who is willing to jump in and pay the practice MONTHLY whether being seen or not? Ugh.

This review will only discuss the quality of care, since none of the billing has had time to…read moreprocess yet, and I see the concerns of other previous reviewers; I have had similarly ridiculous, convoluted issues with OHSU in the past, so I am wary of the fallibility of a health care provider's billing department. My wife underwent a minor but still somewhat frightening procedure involving an epidural-like injection into her spine, to alleviate the pain and symptoms related to a pinched nerve between two vertebrae. Thankfully, she felt she was in good hands with Dr. Kafrouni who, despite looking a bit like a young John Kreese from Cobra Kai, was exceptionally caring, communicative, reassuring, knowledgeable, and clear in his descriptions of the procedure itself, as well as all after-care instructions. Whether this procedure will be the silver bullet that fixes my wife's issue has yet to be seen: the effects of the injection will take days to manifest, and a full vertebrae-replacement surgery is still in the cards if it doesn't). Either way, Dr. Kafrouni's insight into the nature of her suffering, the likelihood of it being transient versus permanent, the symptoms to watch out for (in case of the latter), and the path towards total recovery, in addition to his excellent surgical prowess and incredible bedside manner, made the whole experience so much less frightening and frustrating as it could have been. PeaceHealth as an entity may not be perfect (far from it), but surgeons like Dr. Kafrouni aren't far off the mark.
