I have been seeing Dr. Sara Schwerd for almost 2yrs, and with her expertise I've naturally been able to reverse diagnosis and significantly decrease elevated numbers that could have contributed to infertility. Every time I leave her office I feel heard, not rushed, and we always make a plan of action until the next visit occurs. BEWARE! I was excited to meet with Dr. Hudson due to her knowledge and expertise on menopause, as I was hopeful to get support with perimenopause. I left the appointment extremely activated. The entire appointment felt like an interrogation. She gives outdated recommendations that are harmful and dangerous. Her recommendation for weight loss is to not eat carbs and to eat only 1000 calories/day!! 1000 calories!!! This is extremely dangerous. She also never asked about my history with food or if I have ever struggled with disordered eating. I was shocked. If you do not know about nutrition, then please refer out to a colleague who is better educated on the topic and less harmful. I will not be going back. read more

I wanted to love Tori Hudson, ND as I was looking for a naturopath to serve as my primary care provider in tandem with my MD. I was unimpressed with how little she shared with me during my first appointment but hoped that if I booked a second, she would kick into gear, roll up her sleeves, and give me her all. It was a VERY expensive mistake. After laying out my history and my symptoms for her, she suggested a vitamin and a supplement and was ready to end the appointment. Luckily, I had come with questions in hand, including various protocols I had researched and all of which she agreed would be helpful. Had I not done that research she would never have discussed any of the other treatment options she knew were available to me but didn't care enough to mention. She should probably stick with research and give up working with clients because this client felt like she really didn't care read more

Yelp suggested I review Dr. Hudson and reading through these reviews made me remember just how disappointing my entire experience was with her. I was shocked to see that I wasn't the only one who experienced her taking a phone call for some home repairs during our appointment. Wonder how my insurance would feel about paying her for time spent on the phone with a contractor... She also had me buy some supplements that were her brand, and I never finished them. I ended up finding an amazing OBGYN in Vancouver who figured out my issue in the first 10 minutes and was shocked that Dr. Hudson didn't provide the same recommendation. The other reviews are accurate: if you want outdated advice that you could find on the internet and to feel like you don't matter, see Dr. Hudson. Paying out of pocket for a so-called expert is painful (I'm on Medicaid), but it's so much worse when the doctor is extremely outdated. She is supposed to be the leader in her field but she didn't have my medical records, and before even examining me, she declared that I'm most likely infertile and need a hysterectomy. She said that with none of my records and no physical exam. I very much got the feeling that she is unsentimental, doesn't try, and does not understand a woman's desire to have a biological child, or any child for that matter. I got one referral from her and that's all I got from that visit, that cost me almost $300 out of pocket. I really wish the appointment had gone very differently or that I hadn't made it in the first place. She also believes that I should have a hysterectomy to fix endometriosis and adenomyosis and it made me realize that she does not keep up with research on this, because women who have had hysterectomies still have extreme pain and endo growth despite a hysterectomy and no menstruation. And any surgery will cause more scar tissue, which leads to more chronic pain, and feeds endometriosis and adenomyosis. She believes in the outdated retrograde menstruation theory, which is old and not used anymore. It's like the medical equivalent of the Pleistocene era. I was expecting her to suggest bloodletting as an option. Very disappointed. She didn't listen to me, just pulled awful recommendations out of ~you know where~. I had to push really hard just to get a physical exam, and hormone testing. She said my reproduction was fine just because I have regular periods, which I don't, and I was trying to tell her that. I find it very impressive when a business owns their responsibilities and makes effort to improve. Thank you, Karen, for taking the time to address my concerns and right this situation. That's exactly what one wants in a professional office and my confidence in your services is much improved. Wow. Just, wow. I've been going to A WOMAN'S TIME for over a decade. I've been loyal to Dr. Dunlap (whom I adore); however, since Dr.Dunlap left the practice, the service has been abominable. Terrible. Rude. I just called because I received a bill. This was odd because I have called no less than 12 times since receiving this procedure and no one has ever mentioned a bill. That makes sense because before I left their office from this very same procedure, I paid in full as out of pocket. Granted, today is Labor Day, so my intention was to not work, but I wanted to follow-up on the miscommunication. I followed the prompts on the message and called the number provided for the office manager, Kim. I've known Kim for years. She knows me. During this call Kim literally yelled at me for calling her on a holiday. Ummmmmmm.... what? I explained that I was merely following the prompts and if they wanted to not receive calls on a holiday -- don't answer. She hung up on me. To Kim's credit she did call back crying about 15 minutes later, and apologized. Ok. I told her we could follow-up during the week. UPDATE: I am now in October and I returned Kim's voicemail. Immediately I was queried about emails and voicemails she'd sent to me. I explained that I missed one, got one, and that is why I was following-up now. When I asked why I'd received a bill after nearly a year has passed, I was told to speak to Dr.Hudson's sister the co-owner. After waiting about 5 minutes, I was greeted by a woman whom I'd never met and who immediately cut me off when I began to engage in questions about several issues that had gone severely wrong with their office. She was combative, acerbic, & rude. I can understand why Kim was crying. I would too if I had to work there. I explained that I could see this was going nowhere, I was hanging up, & I couldn't be more disappointed with their service. Something has gone drastically wrong over there. After choosing my insurance specifically so that I would be able to continue with Dr.Dunlap & that clinic, I will now never ever return nor suggest the clinic, even to frenemies. Instead I would encourage any woman in the NW to go up the street to Joya. They're SO MUCH MORE PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH! I hope A Woman's Time figures out that patients are the core of their business and pleasant conversation, even about things like billing, needn't be so challenging. The impression I received was that I should consider myself lucky to be there at all & regardless of what my Dr. has told me, they will demand payment whenever they damned well please. Thanks for housing Dr.Dunlap for so long guys! Sorry your front desk staff is so scattered. You've completely messed up my medical billings and been jerks when I tried to figure out why and what exactly your reasoning was. I will never return as a patient. The staff is so friendly, its pretty easy to get in for an appointment and they have a small retail area in front with natrual products and books. This review is long overdue but had to give a shout out to Dr Johnson! She is kind, really listens to your concerns but besides all of these positives, specifically,I went in for my yearly physical and I have to say, I've never been so Cared for during that visit!! She took the time to really examine me head to toe and listen to all my concerns (which honestly it seems like most doctors dont take this time and just do a quick exam and it's over). I've had quite a few issues and she always is prompt to getting back to my emails or calls and I appreciate that she combines traditional western medicine when needed along with different homeopathic treatments along with herbs, supplements that I have found have really helped me! I'm very thankful to have found such a caring and knowledgeable provider! This was literally the worst health care experience I had ever had in my life. My appt, was a few years ago now. It started with Dr. Hudson having someone sit in on my appt., for training purposes. OK, slightly awkward but fine. The worst part came when Dr. Hudson, took a phone call in the middle of my appt. to talk about some home repair information. Something about siding she was getting on her house. I could not believe that she was talking about getting siding on her house in the middle of a medical appt., in which I was trying to seek help. It was a humiliating experience to say the least. She recommended a number of supplements, which I purchased, but later wanted to return the unopened supply a short time after the appt. I received no response to my voicemails and email about this. I had heard positive things about Dr. Hudson, but found my experience to be insensitive and awkward. read more

Dr. Hudson was always distracted. It was probably my worse pelvic exam ever. It was like a foreign experience to her and because I didn't care to have a student observe I felt treated differently. It was like she really doesn't do them very often. It was awkward and terrible! I agree that the doctors are fabulous! I have never had such a positive experience where you feel the doctor is actually listening to you and working with you. The focus is on prevention not just doling out pills. Unfortunately I was not to pleased with the billing/administrative side of the business. I found the billing practices confusing, not well communicated, and a bit archaic. If you see multiple doctors at the clinic you have multiple accounts. If insurance doesn't pay within the month you visit you are billed interest on a payment you never knew was due. I received a bill on one account, while having a credit on another account (I didn't receive statements for the account that had a credit). The billing person explained that switching money between accounts was difficult for them and hoped I would just use it toward future visits or supplements. Once I requested a refund for the credit it took over a month for the check to be sent. I would suggest just paying in full and then dealing with insurance claims on your own so you can track what you are paying and what insurance is covering. read more

This was my first time visiting A Woman's Time for a gyno check-up in an alternative medicinal setting. I am an alternative medicine kind of person and was in need of something other than the cold, harsh, you're just a number, kind of traditional gyno setting at hospitals/ clinics. My obgyn, who I expected to be sensitive, was quite the opposite. Now, I understand that not everyone has an empathic personality, but she felt very judgmental to me. I don't think she belonged in that type of setting at all. I primarily chose to try alternative medicine for my gyno exam because I have had traumatic experiences in standard/ traditional gyno clinics due to my pelvic disfunction (vaginismus) being misdiagnosed and/or misunderstood (Physical therapy and psychotherapy became my saving grace later on). This is also why I had anxiety surrounding this area of my life. The N.D., Tori Hudson, took me into her office with her intern and asked me some questions about my anxiety, etc. It was helpful to talk about my fears in relation to gyno visits before the exam. This is a practice that should be standard in all health related scenarios: serving the whole person- mind, body and spirit. But she was not a warm person at all (although I really liked her intern). I finally get into the exam room and everything looks like it is falling apart. The bulb on the blood pressure device was not working and it took 10 minutes for the intern to fix it, then the ruler on the wall (yes a ruler) fell off the nail onto the floor as I was being measured. After the N.D. gave me my exam, she said that I didn't need one in the first place and at least told me not to worry about coming back for 3 years. Goodie. I left feeling confused but at least I knew I wouldn't be going back. An A+ for the front desk person, though. She (wish I could remember her name) was friendly and very helpful/ welcoming. I am sure that there are other N.D.'s at A Woman's Time that are probably superb. I am also sure that Tori is very knowledgable (I know she is well respected). I did alot of research regarding my condition and Dr. Hudson's name kept coming up. I even tried a naturopathic doctor in Los Angles (that is where I live) and I was not convinced. I finally decided to see doctor Hudson and I flew to Portland. First of all when I called to make an appointment the secretary asked if I have insurance and she got my insurance information, called my insurance and called me back and let me know that my insurance cover part of their visit. I thought that was a very nice gesture. When I got to the doctor's office every body was very friendly. Doctor Hudson came out of her office and introduced herself and took me to her office. She spent one hour and half with me, listened to all my concerns, asked me all the pertinent questions and examined me. She found something that my medical doctor had missed. Two weeks after, I had a follow up appointment with her on the phone and when I was transferred to the secretary to make a payment I was told I have a credit and don't need to pay anything. I am extremely impressed by their honesty and professionalism. Dr. Hudson is knowledgeable, caring, modest and honest. I am glad that I chose to see her. read more

I had high hopes for this office since Dr. Hudson's reputation was so strong and clearly she has a huge reputation...sadly, her interpersonal skills were lacking, our ability to communicate well with each other was disastrous, my condition became worse, and i feel like her celebrity trumped her compassion...some times medical brilliance isn't a substitution for down-home caring. For me, my $275 45 minute first visit (they won't tell you how much the visit will cost since it depends on the "complexity" which is up to the doctors jurisdiction, and precludes your being able to budget otherwise) was thrown out money, and i paid cash, no insurance and no reduced price for cash pay. All we did was discuss history and barely talk about a management plan. When i called back to review some things, I spoke briefly with her handlers, and then I was told to make another appointment. To say the least, it was expensive and disappointing. read more
