First, there are young adults frequently smoking in the hallways and other common areas. This happens regularly and has made the shared spaces unpleasant for residents. If smoking is permitted, I would have liked clarification on where it is allowed. If it is not permitted, I would appreciate enforcement of the policy, as it has become an ongoing issue. Second, I had questions about my monthly water bill, which has been consistently around $200. I was told that someone was sent to check the meters, but no one actually came to my unit to inspect anything. read more

Regrettably, my experience residing in this complex has fallen below expectations, marked by a series of concerns that have significantly impacted my quality of living: 1. Lack of attentiveness to residents needs: Despite reporting issues, a consistent lack of responsiveness to resident concerns has been observed. This includes instances such as being locked out of my apartment due to a lack of maintenance, with the leasing office providing assurances that were not fulfilled in a timely manner, demonstrating a lack of empathy for residents. 2. Poor security: Incidents, such as cars being broken into and stolen (3 in one month alone), including my own (with no expressed concern or empathy from the complex nor property manager), and disruptive events like fireworks on my doorstep in the middle of the night. the entire floor was filled with thick black smoke. Raise serious concerns about the safety and security of the complex. 3. Poor amenities: The provided amenities consistently remain in a state of disrepair, limiting resident access and enjoyment. Work orders would be put in and "completed" but still broken. 4. Garage door continuously being broken: The persistent issue with the garage door being broken poses a security risk and inconvenience for all residents. 5. Poor cleaning and holes in walls: Maintenance and cleanliness standards have fallen short, evident in noticeable lapses in cleaning and structural issues like holes in walls. Then to make matters worse, my security deposit was kept because I return my keys in early due to travel on the last week of my lease -- even though I communicated that I was turning them in and why. Still paid my responsible portion of my prorated rent for my move in date. New management needs to be obtain. And what makes matters worse. In conclusion, safety would be primary to any renter and this gated community leaves the garage entrance doors open for lengthy daytime periods or nights too when the mechanism fails. This has allowed non-resident vehicle and pedestrian traffic into the four-levels and have access to unsecured entrance doors. In addition, garage speeds are not posted throughout and it is not unusual to be challenged on a ramp by oncoming vehicles when the drivers are not familiar with the layout or are preoccupied or intoxicated or having a fit of road rage. The ramps are tight turns and signs need to be in place to slow vehicles beause we do not all have the same driving skill. You probably are wondering what management does when you report piles of dog poop at car doors; low or no lights out in garage area; worker driving "bob-cat" up garage ramp but not tall enough to see what is coming and would have struck your vehicle if you had not pulled into a parking space. This was not a one time thing. The light repair took many months; the dog poop dried up and blew away; and the worker on the "bob-cat" is still driving. Just make sure you watch out when he backs up! The Emerson could be a better place to live if only management took pride and concern for a place called home to some of them, as well as the tenants looking for concerns to be addressed in a timely fashion and represent a community that cares. The amenities that's advertised such as the Bark Park and controlled access do not exist. The dial pads located on the building where the rental office is located and the building directly across do not work. If you are expecting guests or a delivery theirs is no way to buzz your guest into the building. The dial pads are broke and have been out of service for residents for more than 2 years. The alternative is to get in your car, lose your parking space drive all the way to the front or side gates or you can walk. The door handle that lead to the roof for guest parking is gone, it's just a hole you may cut your finger trying to open the door.The main entrance way / side build doors at night is pitch black, no lights around the property , make sure you have a flash light and a taser. Also the property offers a garden which is always lock and dirty. Just purchase plants for your balcony. Also, we have our own junkyard on the 2nd floor of the garage which features wash machine , refrigerators, stoves and more. The gym equipment is broke but you can always spend more money to buy your own. The clubhouse couch pillows resemble flat pancakes, pool table is on it's last leg but just bring your own chair and games. If you want to live where false advertisement resides this is the place for you! Where the resident pay amenity fees with no amenities but the pool. All the residents need to report and sue the property management company for the monies spent and investigate to see if the property is in compliance. Do not fall for the facade , Rents are in line with areas with more amenities and less headaches . Property looks well kept until you move in .. Gates constantly broken.. No call box to buzz in your guests, do not get me started about that , they lie all the time , Claimed they were getting call boxes last year, that never happened . Charging $20 for visitor parking, which is sick I have seen other complexes charge but not $20 like stop trying to gauge your tenants, Defiantly should be free considering you have to go through hell to let them into the garage. And provide real amenities not just a pool and that gym where most of the equipment is broken , and has been broken way before I ever moved here. Trash rooms are disgusting , they have never cleaned them , Pressure washing them would not hurt ... The residents drop trash in the garage , they walk their dogs in the garage allowing them to use the bathroom in the hallways and the garage area. Rental office does nothing to try to combat this , but will attempt to fine you for placing your trash outside to early. Trash removal is 7 days a week , unfortunately there are no standards to anything that they do . I have had Valet Trash for the last 7 years , lets just say this last year has been less they stellar , No trash cans available at move in . I can tell you a laundry list reasons of why NOT to waste your time here, from there terrible parking garage where the gate is ALWAYS broken and people speed through that garage with no regulation or holding people accountable...My car was broken into and they LITERALLY have cameras in the garage and couldn't help me because they "didn't have the angle set up" to see who it was or what happened...I mean my car was in plain sight, how the heck do your cameras not see. Security is trash, people can walk in and out of that building, several doors are broken and were broken the entire time I stayed there (2 years). when the pool opened in 2021, I misplaced my pool passes and I literally had to go through the management company via complaining just to get them replaced. They are not good with communication and the front office, they are fake nice (depending on who you talk to) and have a hard time following up with you. If you are just one day late on even a penny worth of your rent they are QUICK to put an eviction notice on your door...their online system they use to track your statements and maintenance requests is a DINOSAUR, it is a terrible system and very much confusing...I put in several maintenance requests because something was always braking in that place, although the maintenance people are very nice, if you put in multiple requests, they will address one and act like they don't see the others and you have to constantly follow up. Their fees are ridiculous, like the rent is not already ridiculously high for what we actually get...then they want to charge $50/mo to park in the garage, $50/mo to have a pet, $35/mo for them to get the trash everyday. The clubhouse was close down the first year we lived there and we were still paying for it...They have a theater THAT YOU PAY FOR but can't use. The package facility that they try to promote as a fancy benefit where your packages are supposed to be "safe", they are not...i've had packages stolen out of their mailroom because it is not secured...they do not have a proper checks and balances system. If you have guests coming over, prepare for it to be a headache just for them to park in a reasonable place without having to walk miles just to get to your unit...they do not have a telephone system where you can buzz in guests, it is giving very much either find parking on the street or I have to meet you at the gate to let you in. The alarm is constantly going off in the building at the most random times, we've gotten woken up out of our sleep countless times because they have THEE loudest alarm systems in your rooms, so if you have babies, newborns, kids that can't handle loud noises...they may be traumatized by your living space if you choose to ignore all these red flags I am trying to expose you too. I would like to see them more proactively go after the bad tenants and rule breakers but my overall experience here has been great. I love my apartment and the space. Went on a tour of the community. It is in dire disrepair. Was blown away by how broken down the place looked. The pictures looked great. The hallways are super dark and smell pretty awful. I waited to write this review to see if I were going to get my deposit back, and now that I have received less than half of it back, I can now tell you why you or anyone else should never move into these apartments! I moved to these apartments in April 21 and moved out August 21 because the amount of rodents and bugs in these buildings are literally disgusting! I moved here with my service animal and 4 month old child. I moved in seeing a few spiders, but I was assured that it was because no one has lived here for awhile. lived there for FOUR MONTHS and every single day there was a bug. I'm talking big roaches, spiders, flies, gnats, water bugs, and other bugs that I have never seen before. These bugs were also in the hallways. The number of bugs that were present would make you think that I was dirty and never cleaned, but I vigorously and thoroughly cleaned my home every day to prevent them from being in my home. There was also an instance where a spider crawled on my child's face and would be in his play area. All the staff did was apologize, and their exterminator sucked because they kept coming back. These were major red flags of an INFESTATION! In the last month of me living there, I started hearing mice running in the walls and through the vents. The exterminator said that it was a squirrel. I lived on the first floor...The first time that I saw a mouse in my home, I paid money to get out of my lease. (I feel horrible for those who cannot afford to do the same.) The days leading to me moving out, there would be DEAD MICE in my kitchen whenever I came home. I have pictures of mice and bugs, and nothing was still done. They felt that I was exaggerating about an infestation. I'm pissed because I should have believed the reviews before moving in. I have contacted corporate and the housing authorities who will be investigating how living in these apartments are basically inhumane. And like all the other reviews, they will respond telling me to contact them to discuss this issue further, which I will not be doing because when I tried to discuss my issues previously, it did not go anywhere. An apology will never make up for bugs and mice taking over my home that I paid rent for, and for traumatizing my infant son! Emerson at Cherry Lane has the most unprofessional staff members, no one ever smiles and if you ask a question, they can answer. They are unwilling to make your experience pleasant. If you call maintenance, it was always a hurry up and wait. Never showing when they said they would. Each staff member doesn't do much as smile, unless you are their next victim. They communicate very negatively, don't return phone calls and the facility is literally falling apart. Rats/mice are running around rampantly including in the apartments. The trash rooms are breeding grounds for rodents, unclean and the stench resonates throughout the garage. You pay a lot of money for garbage. Living in the district is much better than here. The doors to garage sometime works and there is always trash. Despite putting in a 60 days notice they illegally forced tenant to stay and pay an additional month threatening if we didn't pay, they would charge me a bevy of charges and place it on my credit report. Let me first start off by saying that I lived in this building for a year and had no issues. I moved into a new apartment August 20th...and still do not have a working washer or dryer. The current date is now September 12th and WE STILL ARE UNABLE TO DO LAUNDRY. We received a dryer, but they forgot to order us a washer. All I asked for was a confirmation that our washer was actually ordered and the still can't even do that. Everyone points you in talk to someone else, or that it is someones else's issue, you need to talk to them, but then, those people are never available. The communication is awful in this place. If you live here you just better hope that nothing breaks because it will take a month to get fixed. (who knows, maybe even longer since we still are unable to wash our clothes.) read more

I have lived at this complex over a year and a half and have no complaints . The current staff are prompt,efficient, and professional. All maintenance requests are handled within 24 hours . The residents are friendly and courteous. I also enjoy the resident calendar events sponsored by the residence . I haven't moved in yet so I can't properly review the community yet. However, just off of first impressions Karima with the leasing team is amazing. I've toured over 10 apartment communities and the customer service was lackluster to say the least, the leasing agent I've been working with has been extremely patient, informative, and communicative. I've also spoken with another gentleman in the office over the phone whose name I can't recall but he was very nice and helpful as well. I hope that my experience thus far is a good representation of the move in process and the next 12 months. read more

I relocated here from another state in 2013. Great location to hwy's to DC/ MD, local schools, family activities, and the new strip mall. My family and I just walk across the street to our leisure stores and in summer, we frequent walks at the lake. Emerson is not perfect. I've had no issues that could not get resolved, with management or leasing staff. I like the new lockers that secure our packages and the email's notices are prompt. The current Property Manager and leasing staff was very understanding and professional during a last minute call to reserve the art-deco clubhouse for a family repass. Every year, I have a family venue there overlooking the pool. A perfect place for family to mingle. Maintenence: The Emerson has accomodated my request(s) timely for repairs. I adopted a child with special needs, the maintenence man Fabian did a walk thru to accommodate, air quality, drafts screens etc. Most recently, I placed a ticket to check my heat, the washing machine was in its last days and my thermostat wasn't working properly.. Stew and Victor were on the scene among other tickets placed. All repaired and replaced before I left for work. Stew, replaced the smoke detector that had low battery by daughter's bedroom. That meant more than anything. All the maintenence guys on the property are great and gifted, but I always request Stew or Vic. Thumbs up! Things to work on: Get a better Gauge for the garage door that can handle frequent wear and tear open and closing gate. Ask the Contee apartments what do they use. It diminishes the beauty of the complex and embarrassed when inviting guests. Stay consistent with moving times and gates. So, that existing tenants are not inconvenienced. Announce via email of new staff members, new office managers and those that move on. Keep clorax wipes in gym area. Please bring back the yellow door knob notices so that we know what repairs were done/not and by whom. Need policeman walk thru and on visitors roof, undercover. Enforce, doggie poop pock up on property, especially by the mailboxes. Lastly, add bright lights in garbarge rooms & a good cleaning service to clean the floors. Takes a village! read more

I wish that it was possible to give zero stars, especially in regards to their completely unresponsive leasing office team. This is hands down the worst experience that I have ever had at an apartment complex. The security is terrible, doors that should be locked are often left opened or do not lock. We have gone an additional 3 weeks without a working garage gate. There is so much wrong with this place but I want to talk about this personal experience that I have been told is not a rare instance. My boyfriend and I moved into the apartment complex February of this year. Beginning with our pre-move in experience, the leasing office rarely answered phone calls for questions. When they did answer, the little information that they gave us was not even helpful. We were in need of an apartment in a hurry so we thought nothing of it in the beginning. Moving forward to our move in day, I show up to the leasing office to receive our keys and be shown our apartment. The leasing agent takes me to the apartment and the living room floor has leaves and dirt on it that had not been cleaned. We own a broom so I just swept it up and proceeded to move in. I went back into the leasing office to ask if they had a dolly or a cart that we would be able to use and bring back and they said that they did not own a cart or dolly when they clearly use multiple to move heavy packages and equipment that the maintenance use. After moving everything in and settling into the apartment about 2 weeks later our dryer begins to make noises and not work properly. We put in a maintenance request that was supposedly "completed" and we came back home to the same noise. We put in another request and after one week of dealing with the noise and no response another maintenance person comes and the noise continues. This time our dryer stops working completely so we put in yet another request. One week goes by and there is no response. We call and leave voicemails, still with no response. 4 maintenance requests and 3 weeks later someone finally comes in to replace our dryer. To top off the ridiculousness, when we were FINALLY able to get in touch with the leasing office, i brought up to the leasing agent that we had left multiple voicemails and received no responses or call backs. The agent had the audacity to tell me that "voicemails often go unanswered around here" and she thought that this was perfectly fine. I have never experienced this amount of unprofessionalism in my life, I would never recommend living in this retched environment. read more

I wanted to wait until I was here for a certain amount of time before I wrote a review, the initial one was going to bad and sadly I feel the same way. I'll start with the good: - Big garage with descent parking - I like the size and layout of my apartment - The ability to walk to the market and movie theater since it's practically right in front of the apartments Now for the bad: - The crime rate in the area is high and doesn't justify the high cost of rent, I should feel safe in my community if I'm paying top dollar. - People are constantly propping the doors open in every building especially at night so anyone off the street can walk in at will. - Since anyone can walk in thru the propped doors, I've seen obviously homeless people sleeping in the stairwells and smoking weed. - The courtesy patrol is a joke in the evening when they are most needed, during the day when everyone is gone the courtesy officer thoroughly walks the building and garage for suspicious activity due to the spike in crime. At night when everyone and their mom can get in do as they please, courtesy officer is nowhere to be found. - Although the garage is big, parking can be scarce in the evenings and it's pretty dirty and in need of a serious power wash. Also due to the fact that the garage doors are always broken and open, outsiders are getting in and vandalizing and stealing cars. - The children of tenants constantly run around the property, especially the gym and clubhouse, being loud and chasing each other with objects in their hands. - $30 a month is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for trash pickup at your door, especially when I can just walk to the numerous trash chutes and toss my own trash for free. It's not optional and they only pick Sunday thru Thursday, for that kind of money it should be an everyday thing. - Be prepared to spend at least 10 to 20 min in the rental office if you have to visit for some reason, they're either not there or on the phone with an angry tenant who's also fed up with this property. If it's hasn't become abundantly clear I will not be renewing my lease, mainly because of the crime. New apartments are being built directly across the street which are sure to be overpriced for the area. Wish I did my research of the area before I decided to move here, after this experience I will be sure I'm more careful. read more

I'll try to keep this short and sweet like the guy who rented me my apartment (which was ground level near the gym and rental office). Everything started out great! Then ROACHES & WATERBUGS must have thought I needed some company about 30 days in. I contacted the rental office and they put me on Wednesdays exterminator list! Clearly they have an insect issue. That Wednesday they did NOT come nor did they notify me. Wait... I told you I moved into their ground level apt right? Well one of the living room windows facing the sidewalk was improperly installed leaving a crack when shut and making it unable to lock -__-. They did't fix that for about a month. I was also missing a light fixture in the bathroom... that wasn't fixed until IDK ask the new tenants! Back to me living with their bugs! I had to research and buy my own repellant, seal the front door and balcony door and place my own sticky pads down to try and contain these EMERSON ROACHES. The rental office stopped responding to my emails, wouldn't reimburse me for buying my own Raid nor would they move me to another unit or let me break my lease without a penalty. Did I mention that Roaches are not on my lease? They make you pay extra to take the trash out and where the trash was held ALWAYS DISGUSTING! After about 2 months of my stalking the office for help ( leaving messages, voicemails, emails) the Roaches got tired of hearing my mouth and the exterminator came weekly but I had to keep my apartment set up for them to come ( kitchen packed up .. furniture off the wall). The property manager eventually helped me out but did NOT hold anyone accountable for ignoring the shit outta me when I was just trying to get rid of unwanted guests. Parking is GREAT because anyone can park anywhere, the garage gate never worked. My car was broken into inside and outside the garage. NOW! I moved out at what I thought was the end of my lease (ultimately I was a month early). I emailed prior to move out day and a woman told me to just hand in keys parking pass etc. I did such and a month later I get a unprofessional email from Shorty who tells me I need to pay a prorated amount of money because the new tenants changed their move in date and I was responsible. I emailed him back for an explanation (which was when i realized I moved out too early) and of course! no response. Please avoid this place! Although the place may look nice enough, the management at this complex is useless. On more than one occasion, they "misplaced" packages. One time they lost a package that was delivered an hour prior. When I went to retrieve the package they couldn't find it. Two weeks later, when I went to retrieve the replacement package that I reordered, they brought me two boxes. Yes, you guessed it, it was the original package and the replacement package! The security gates are almost always broken. For the entire year that I lived at this place, the gates were probably working for maybe a month. While I was living there, the door locks were switched from a traditional key entry to a keyfob entry. The problem, was that once they were changed, they didn't have enough key fobs for all of their tenants. My partner and I got one fob between the both of us until they got more in. Meaning, that for a week, only one of us could enter the apartment building. Essentially, I was renting an apartment that I couldn't enter! The front office staff knows nothing in regards to moving out. The weekend that we were scheduled to move out, I wanted to avoid being charged painting and cleaning fees, so I did it myself. I rented a carpet cleaner and provided the office with a receipt. I was told that this was acceptable. They charged me anyway for a carpet cleaning fee. I made every attempt to patch and paint the few holes made from pictures I had hanging on the wall. I patched the holes and then contacted the front office to see where I could buy the correct paint. At first, they told me Home Depot and Sherwin William's both had the information and could provide me with the paint. I went to Home Depot first. They had no idea what Emerson was talking about. They had no information about the paint. I called Emerson to inform them of this and they said to try Sherwin Williams. So, I called Sherwin Williams (there are two locations in Laurel). The one I called had no information for me. I called Emerson back letting them know. The office staff said to try the other location. I went to the other location. This Sherwin Williams did have an account with Emerson. They had only one paint color on file and it was the wrong color. They had a tan color, I needed a pale grey color. Called the office back and they had no idea what to do. They didn't have any of the information on the proper paint colors in their apartments. So, I couldn't paint. I called back a few days later to speak with the manager. I told her my concerns and my attempts to paint the apartment, but that her staff could not help me. She, the manager, also had no idea about what paint colors were used in the apartment. When I received my final statement, they charged us $161 for painting. I am currently disputing these charges. Update: After several weeks, I finally got the charges removed. However, this was not easy to do. I attempted to call the manager of Emerson three times. The first two times, I was told that the manager was unable to take my call so I left a message. The manager never returned my calls. On the third attempt, I was once again told that that the manager was unavailable. Instead of leaving a message, I asked for the contact information of the manager's boss. I was given an email address, but no phone number. I believe this was a regional/area manager. I emailed this person several times requesting a phone call. The manager never called, and would only communicate through email. After several weeks of emails, with me explaining the above experience, she finally removed the charges. I received a check last week . I moved out last August. It is now mid-November. It should not have been this difficult or have taken this long for my issue to be resolved. If you decide to rent from this company, document everything and be prepared for incompetence. read more

Let's start with night one shall we. After signing my lease, receiving my keys, and registering my car online with the community, I asked the office staff representative if I needed anything else before beginning my stay as a new resident. The representative said no, and i gratefully I walked out the office--looking forward to starting over after a very negative prior living experience. I parked my car in the garage and slept soundly for my first night in my new place. The next morning (Sunday), my car was gone! It had been towed! When I called to find out why my car was gone, the tow company proceeded to tell me that I didn't have a decal. How?! I paid for parking, registered my car, and asked if I needed anything else before moving in. Was I missing something?! Of course the leasing office was closed. So I had to take a Lyft to pick up my car. I arrived to the tow place only for a living nightmare. I waiting outside, in the snow, freezing, for over an hour. Missed my meeting. Paid my tow. When reporting this to the leasing office, not missing a detail, the "manager" stated essentially, "oh well". He informed me that there was nothing he could do, gave a heartless apology, proceeded to fill out my decal form, and then sent me on my way. No reconciliation. No acceptance of responsibility. Nothing. Just an arrogant, entitled, and clearly not held responsible attitude. Unfortunately proceeding to live here regardless of the red flag, more issues had risen. The roach infestation is disgusting. I'm pretty clean. So I can keep them to a minimum in the apartment, but between the entry ways and hallways, just fowl. Thankfully the cleaning people come daily and mop the halls with Fabuloso. Continuing, I also had OVER $5000 worth of items taken out of my car. My door was pried open. No cameras in the garage, along with garage doors that regularly malfunction, and (during the time) MIA security, allowed this to happen. So why do i pay for garage parking again? When reported, the leasing office did NOTHING. Then, after talking with other current residents, i found they also had a similar experience. Doing more digging, I then found that previous residents had the same theft experience! The car theft has been going on for YEARS, and the leasing office/property management has apparently done nothing to resolve or reconcile the issue. PATHETIC! I'd continue my story, but I think you get the gist. DO NOT MOVE HERE! Until they can start with taking responsibility for their negligence, you'll find much more taken/stolen from you. read more

I stumbled across this location when looking for a new place. Compared to where I was, the price is better and my apartment is much nicer. I love the size of the space. It fits me and all of my junk I also have a nice view of the courtyard from where I live. Lauren, from the rental office, was very accommodating to me when I moved in and I appreciated that. She even took the time to show me exactly where I was going and the quickest way to get there. I only have positive remarks thus far! read more

Great amenities, great location, and staff are pretty great too. There isn't anything uniquely beautiful about this place. It is new construction without much personality, but the apartments are clean, decently-sized with nice-sized kitchens, and you can't hear the neighbors through the walls. This place is overpriced, but everything is overpriced in the DC area. I would recommend this place to people. read more

I was a little leery about moving here due to the reviews, I've been here for 7 months now and I love my home. The community has some issues but which ones don't? So here it goes, I've been here now for almost 3 months and already my car has gotten broken into TWICE. But that is Laurel for you. Theft and break in of car are very common here. The apartment complex is very nice looking, the amenities are on point, the staff is good but can be a bit more cherry. Security here in almost none existence. The complex is in close proximity to both I-95 and the BWI beltway. The tenants for the most part are really nice people but like in any major area, you also get a few sketchy looking people. The pool area can be loud on the weekends but only from the kids having fun. My only beef is with the lack of security here. Theft and breaking into cars happens weekly both inside and outside the garage. There is no roving security guard. I spoke to management about this issue and I can tell, nothing is going to change anytime soon. The building is no nice that I want to stay here, but I can't deal with the lack of security and criminals breaking into cars. Would I recommend it, umm you can do alot worse, Theft in cars happens all to often. Its safe here for the most part but I don't plan on renewing my lease here. History has taught me that after they break into cars, they will eventually start breaking into apartments. read more

Parking garage gates were ALWAYS broken, we found people sleeping in the gym (squatters?), when we told mgmt they didn't seem to care. Fire alarm went off at 3am once and only a few residents came outside. What the hell was everyone else doing? Then, no explanation from staff about what happened. I lived at this apartment complex over ther summer. I discovered mold growing on several items in my apartment after about 2 months of living there. It was on the walls, the furniture, my shoes, clothes, and many other things. After several times trying to reach management I finally got ahold of them about the issue. They were very unhelpful and difficult to communicate with about the issue. They did nothing to solve it or clean it. After cleaning the walls myself I had many rashes on my body and heavy allergies for days. I continued to try and get help from them about the issue to see what they cpuld do for me. The manager Lydia gave me a message that she would call me back every time I called, but she never ever returned my calls. I'm seriously upset that this issue was resolved so poorly. Avoid living here at all costs. The management is terrible and they will tell you lie after lie only to never follow through on their word. read more

I would not suggest moving here. I mean for the area the price is pretty good, however, the quality of service and living here is very disappointing. The biggest disappointment is the management company. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company. Pros: 1. Inexpensive rent 2. Spacious apartments 3. Residential parking Cons 1. Poorly maintained apartments. Maintenance just patches things rather than fixing them. When I moved into my unit they did not clean it. AT ALL. Doors were missing. Dirt still on top of fans. The kitchen faucet had a mixed match handle. Different types of carpet depending on the room. Hardwood floors had paint on them. Vents were dusty, I mean DIRTY. Water stains on the ceiling in the hallway leading to guest bathroom and a mildew smell in the laundry room. Tubs didn't drain. No water pressure in the sinks. Ya'll it was a hot ass mess. 2. In November when the temperatures began to drop I realized that my heat did not work. Our unit would not get warm, AT ALL. Rather than fixing the heating unit, maintenance brought me space heaters. My electric bill went from $175 (which is still more expensive than Im used to considering I am only home from about 8 pm to 7 am and 8/9 hours out of that I am asleep) to $469, FOR AN APARTMENT! I own properties in Baltimore and I've lived in a huge house before I relocated to the Emerson and my bge bill there ran me about $150 a month for an entire house! I have been trying to get in contact with the property manager for almost 3 weeks now. I came in and spoke to I guess the assistant property manager who told me he wasnt available. Then I spoke to lauren who told me she would inform him. But I never heard from him. I went back in and spoke to Lauren who then gave me his email. I emailed him 3 days ago and still no response. Today I went back in the office and finallllly finallly finally I was able to talk to him but he seemed unbothered. lol He said you don't by chance have a loft apartment do you. Yes I do but the bill should not be almost $500. I expected an increase but this is excessive. 3. My package is lost. When you receive a package in the office they send you a notification. I went to retrieve my packages but they could only find 1. Again I've been waiting for the property manager who informed me today that I'd have to wait at least another week to hear from him. Like seriously I've already wasted almost 3 weeks trying to get in touch with you. 4. Prior to living in this unit, I lived downstairs. Thats a long story, but if you decide to rent from them even after you've read all of these bad reviews be sure to READ EVERY INCH OF THE LEASING AGREEMENT! When I moved out of that apartment I had a broom and a vacuum and I literally vacuumed all of the carpets and swept the floors. I didnt have a dustpan with me so I swept it into one neat pile. DO YOU KNOW THEY CHARGED ME A CLEAN UP FEE. Meanwhile the apartment that I was moving into was filthy. They wanted to charge me to paint the walls when there was barely any markings. I wish I could attach pictures because they were ridiculous. No one could believe it. I said you guys have to paint the apartments and clean the carpets anyway. They said they did not. They only do it every three years. EWWW... Guys not one juice stain was on the carpet. Not one stain. We don't walk on the carpet with shoes. But because the area that my bed covered was slightly lighter than the surrounding area they wanted to charge a fee. 5. DO not go to the pool expecting to be able to get in the water. FIRST off, you probably wont make it to the pool because of the rats. They are not afraid of you. Second there are way too many trees in the pool area. The pool is filled with leaves and bugs etc, while the pool attendants take turns taking naps. Third the water is freezing all year round. smh I could go on and on but hopefully you get the point. Moving to the Emerson was a huge mistake. There are a few other properties close by that have better reviews and a similar price point. I would definitely urge you to check those out! read more

As a resident here at the Emerson on Cherry Lane,I decided that it was time to put in a positive review. I've been living here for about 3 years now and have nothing but positive things to say. Management has been fair and yet invested in maintaining the quality of living here.. I've seen the area change over the short period of living here and I applaud the Emerson for keeping up with the trend. As I have looked around and in comparison for the size of apartments and location,the Emerson gets two thumbs up in my book!!! read more

The cleanest places in the complex is the rental office and probably your apartment. I've noticed bugs in hallways and garbage dumpsters in common areas sometimes directly in front of resident windows. In the last 4 years the complex has drastically gone down hill. The garage stairwells and personal stairwells are filled with fecal matter and urine atleast once a week. The garabage collection service is a mess and many times you don't even want to approach the trash room. Don't use any of the public/community restrooms, they aren't sanitary (no soap) and the machines in the gym are all used, broken or work with missing parts. The garage doors and side doors are always broken (sometimes for more than a month.) The staff is friendly, but it is as if the residents exchanged a friendly staff for little to none maintenance. read more

Do NOT live here if you do not have to. This place is one of the worst apartment complexes I've ever lived. The staff are cordial, but trust me, there is no incentive to be accommodating or kind to residents. I tried to upgrade from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, and they not only wanted to charge me a transfer fee of $600 but also a termination fee of a month a half rent. I was moving 4 doors down! In addition, there are so many trees in the pool area that it's impossible to lay out in the sun at any time of the time (good luck snagging one of the 6 chairs). Because the water never got warm enough (in all the shade) it wasn't even enjoyable to swim. The gym is decent, but I don't think the equipment is ever cleaned. The garage doors have been broken for months; my car was broken into last month. And I park on the 3rd floor. Emails are rarely returned, you're lucky if someone actually answers the phone. The only nice thing is that I've had wonderful neighbors. I'm so frustrated with the service and quality, I decided to buy a home. read more

Absolutely ridiculous! I advise anyone considering moving here not to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything was a mess from my having to hound the leasing office for my initial move in, to receiving noise complaints where it was stated I was having a dance party in the middle of the night (in which my entire household is asleep by 8:30pm) to giving me an apartment on the 4th floor when I asked if the first floor would be more appropriate. I've seen rats in the garage, the leasing staff leaves there and I'm the one that had to point out the debris in the courtyard. The trash door was broken the entire 6 months I lived there! My very first week there they was a mouse running around on the 1st floor. I received the apartment with a broken toilet seat, broken blinds, scratches in the floor and stains in the apartment and they have the nerve to charge me and not refund my security deposit. I personally cleaned the apartment much better than I received it. The only reason why I moved here was to transition in between the sale of my home and they offered a reduced lease option. Totally regret the move and advise anyone in the future to consider another apartment community. read more
