He claims on Yelp to be "fully licensed," yet, looking up the name of his company, as well as the…read morename Brandon Retlik on the State Contractors Licensing Board website, I can't seem to find a license for him or his company. I don't see any actual license number on his advertising either, which appears to be required, if one is actually "licensed." The possible lack of contractors license makes sense now though, as he took over $1200 from us up front to perform a $2400 job, charging us 50% of the cost of the entire job up front, but we now know after talking to our friend, who is also an attorney, that this is illegal in California (violation of B&P 7159.5-a Misdemeanor). Regardless, even if he is actually licensed, and is taking more than 10% of the cost of the job up-front, knowing he can't legally do such, makes his conduct really shady. After taking our $1200 up front and scheduling to install our permanent lights, he no-showed several times to our confirmed appts, always full of excuses when we reached out to him to find out why he no-showed (many other reviewers here talk about no-shows with him as well). Excuses consisted of, "I got asked to help at the Clovis parade" and "I'm in Riverdale on job," when he was scheduled to be on our job instead. Yet, he never reached out to tell us he couldn't make the appt or to reschedule, he'd just no-show and we'd have to follow-up with him to find out what happened. After several rounds of that, we had to eventually hire someone else to complete the actual work we paid Brandon to do. Brandon initially agreed to refund us the money, due to his repetitive and complete failure to perform any of the work as agreed. He initially stated he would reverse the $1200 debit card charge. Of course, like all his other lies, he never reversed the charges. After confronting him on such, he then agreed to drop a check off to us for $1200 instead, which he again never followed through with after making several commitments to do so (we have all the texts proving such). Now, he's just flat-out non-responsive to any calls or texts we make to him, so, we figured it was time for a review so others know exactly how this guy treated us and can make an informed decision when considering hiring him for any work. Apparently he thinks we're just going to allow him to literally steal $1200 from us, which if other reviews are true, he's done similar things to other Yelp reviewers as well. Unfortunately, due to his now complete non-responsiveness and total failure to return our $1200, it looks like our only recourse left per the attorney we know, is to go the route of filing an official complaint with the CA Contractor Licensing Board next week, as well as filing a civil legal claim (Letter of Demand already sent). Based upon prior reviews, given the fact, he has apparently taken other people's money as well and then not performed the work for up front payments, would seem to potentially establish a pattern of deception by: 1. Charging more up front than the law allows (50% vs a max of 10%); and 2. taking money from consumers and then not performing the work. So, we're going to meet with law enforcement as well to see if anything else can be done about him taking our money and running with it. Luckily, we have EVERYTHING well documented very clearly in writing with him, so, proving all of the above legally in court and with the CSLB, will not be difficult whatsoever. The takeaway: based upon our experience with this guy taking our money up front and then vanishing, we clearly don't recommend his services, but, hopefully the wheels of justice will catch up with him, as it appears he's taken advantage of other people as well based upon other online reviews, as well as an unanswered BBB complaint from 2023 (easy to view online). We clearly aren't the first victim he's taken money from and then disappeared. Wish we would have read all the Yelp reviews first, as well as the BBB complaint, prior to hiring him. Lesson learned the hard way on this one!

Valley Solar Cleaning is completely untrustworthy, basically A FULL SCAM. Someone I know hired him…read moreand paid a deposit for his services and he completely ignored them. He repeatedly missed appointments, gave excuses to reschedule, never followed through, and then promised a refund that he never gave back. The proceeded to claim he issued the refund and ignored all further efforts of communication. Do not hire him under any circumstances. He is unreliable and bottom line a straight up THIEF!

A couple of young men came out, and cleaned out the gutters, which is also a service they offer, and then did the pressure washing work. When they were done, I went to check it out, and was to be honest, not impressed. The concrete was definitely lighter in color, but all the dark spots and stains were still there. My philosophy, when things like this happen is that, well, things like this happen. I called he company the next day, and spoke with Chris. He was shocked to hear about the job that the two guys had done the day before, and immediately said he would come out and take a look at things. He asked me to send him a couple of photos, which I did, and we made arrangements for someone to come back out. Turns out it was Chris himself. He did an unbelievably great job! Most of the areas in question look practically brand new again. And the areas that were really, really really bad look way way way better. I get that, for a variety of reasons, sometimes services rendered aren't all they could be. That has happened with me on the other end of things, in my line of work. When it does happen, and I am the consumer, I always reach out to the business and give them the opportunity to respond. Sometimes the response is not great. Here, though, it was outstanding. Chris scheduled me as soon as both of our calendars allowed, came out, and was here for hours and hours, and as I said before, did a really fantastic job. To me, that's super important. Things do go wrong from time to time, and what counts is how the company stands behind its work and makes things right. These guys nailed it! I would absolutely use them again, and I would recommend them 100%. Well done!
