Upon filing taxes this year, I asked my tax prep if I can include my private daycare. She was not sure and advised me "probably not". Since she is newer and I did not feel confident in her answer, after filing, I did my own research and found I was able to claim it. I called back the office and she mentioned she did not say that (false) and they were going to charge me more to amend. I was upset bc it was their mistake to begin with. Needless to say, the owner Tom got on the phone and mistaken me for another client and said he is doing me a favor by giving me a discount, was RUDE and hung up on me without advising how to help me. I can't believe how unprofessional he was! Not only did I pay for my taxes to be prepared but they did them incorrectly and also will not disclose my personal tax info to me. I tried calling back and the receptionist hung up on me. They have my federal documents. Isn't this against the law?? I am also contacting the IRS to do a complaint as well. He thought I was someone else- didn't let me talk- cursed me out and has my documents and hung up on me and his staff. He needs to be reported to IRS- and SHUT DOWN.

I was most impressed that the founder, Atty John Bansbach called me back himself. After calling a dozen or so law firms and requesting to speak to the lawyer that would be handling my cases, and only getting legal aides to "pass on" the information, has been disappointing. Not criticizing their knowledge but I would prefer to not have an "in-between" person. My expectation was to be able to build a rapport with the lawyer handling my case , make sure we are on the same page and ascertain if our point of views are aligned . Factors critical to successfully represent me and my meeting my needs. This law firm met that expectation. Atty. Bansbach was very through in making sure he had all the information he needed to help me. I will update this review once his deliverable are received.

I found John to be quite personable, and our first conversation already gave me the impression that he was genuine, not just another lawyer trying to make a buck off me. I explained my situation and he gave me sound advice to ensure I would be protected and get matters done with reasonable cost. While I did get the impression his office was busy, it never took too long before they either called me back or gave me updates by email. If it was important or I had a direct question John would call me back personally, otherwise Brent at his front office handled the day to day legwork. I hit a snag and had to delay the work and John did not skip a beat to pick up the work and same quote months later. Once I gave him even more details, he gave me more advice to save even more money, and the transaction completed smoothly in the time that he estimated. Because of the money saved he sent me back the remainder. While we both were too busy to actually meet in person, I would not hesitate to use his services again. I find John to be sincere in his efforts to help me, and did not nickel and dime me for everything. Extremely professional.

A couple of years ago, we had a few issues due to our old CPA filing our taxes under the wrong FEIN number. During that time, I worked closely with Sheril Damelio to resolve these issues. Not only did Sheril take the extra time to help me understand what was going on, but she also made it a priority to check in with me and ensure these issues never happen again. She was a godsend. As our company has grown, we have taken advantage of the HR resources that Optima offers, and we have been extremely satisfied. Sheril answered all of my questions and even guided me through signing into specific portals, utilizing tools, and exploring other opportunities to support our business. More recently, I have been working with Kathy Freeman, who is exceptional. She is always timely with her responses, and I feel confident knowing she is handling our payroll. If you are a business owner in the Rochester area, I highly recommend utilizing services from Optima. They are second to none in our community, and we are so lucky to have them! Thank you all.

I believe this was done in 2017. From then on our buisness had gone through a change of management and more importantly we were trying to find our way as new buisness owners during a pandemic with little resources to no help. While going through bank statements for tax purposes we came across Optima Benifits every few months for different charges. When looking more into it we were still being charged every quarter for the last 7YEARS for a service that we thought we canceled. The charges started at $21 when we signed up and continued to increase every year... $75 to 78.50 to 83 to 100 and a few random higher ones. When going back to look at our contract a few things were done wrong on both ends but getting in touch with them was not the easiest processes when the found out why we were calling. On our end apparently we were supposed to send them written notification to terminate service after verbal communication which for wjatever reason we failed to do.... for the 7 years inbetween we DID NOT recieve any sort of emails, phone calls or written letters regarding any type of service they have provided us. We never not even once received any documents from them not even for annual taxes! So im not sure what we were even being charged for. We no longer had any paid employees to which we would need a payroll. This is a family owned buisness. All under 1 roof family buisness! So yes we should have caught this much sooner and we learned our lesson the hard way. On the other hand what type of moral ethics does a company have to charge anyone for a service they clearly not providing? In the end we learned a tough lesson and that is to not trust anyone with just there word... always read the fine print and reread btwn the lines and most importantly follow up and dnt just take them at there word.

Despite using the firm for business purchases, I often felt unprotected. Communication became a serious issue. When I raised concerns, my message was simply forwarded to that attorney with no effort to resolve the issue. It felt like they were protecting themselves--not representing me. The final straw was finding out I'd been dropped as a client without any notice. They were holding an escrow check and only returned it with my files after multiple emails and calls. No explanation--just silence until I pressed for answers. Yes, I stood up for myself and expected accountability. That may not have been convenient for them. But at these rates, professionalism should be non-negotiable. I'm relieved to move on and find a firm that values transparency and client care.
