Wonderful, perfect, wedding flowers with excellent customer service. Hilary created beautiful bouquets for me and my bridesmaids with little direction from me since I didn't really know what I wanted - but she created the perfect bouquet for me, with vague (and not very helpful instructions) on my part. She created flower pieces to decorate the arch we were getting married under, and provided ties for us to easily attach the flowers to the arch ourselves. All of our corsages and boutonnieres looked perfect, and were labeled accordingly so that we could easily pass them out to everyone who needed one. Her pricing was very reasonable, and I feel I got way more than my money's worth in fresh, gorgeous, perfectly arranged flowers. All the flowers were neatly organized when we picked them up (bouts and corsages in a separate box to be refrigerated until wedding time, etc.) Hilary was a dream to work with, and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for some beautiful wedding flowers or flowers for another occasion. Hilary's attention to detail truly helped simplify our big day, and I am very grateful for that. read more

I feel the need to say that 1) I coukd've contacted Hilary about my experience before posting the review. I'm sorry I didn't. 2) Hilary contacted me and said that she could've fixed things on the day off if I had said anything. (I didn't see the flowers myself until the ceremony) She was really sorry about the disconnect and asked if she coukd do anything now. I think that she's a wonderful person. (I think I said that before) so I'd give her another chance. I'd just make sure with lots of pictures and questions that we're in the same page. read more

I didn't think I was going to be so picky about my wedding day florals, but, I ended up caring more than I thought I was going to and am so glad I chose an artist like Hilary to execute my vision of cascading, wild, loose arrangements in a very specific color palette. It was easy to work with Hilary from start to finish, despite planning a Portland wedding from Austin. She did a mockup arrangement and emailed it to me, and I was able to provide her with feedback which she incorporated impeccably. She created truly beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres, hanging arrangements, and centerpieces for our big day, came out to the venue to arrange it all, and was very very reasonable in her pricing. Such a cute, quaint little flower shop. The woman working there was weet as can be. The succulents were all arranged--not too crowded and perfectly pieced together int he cutest little teacups and pots. Flowers for arranging were dispersed among the shop and I noticed the little greenhouse featuring all the hot-natured plants like ferns. Thumbs up and green for the Wooly Pockets which they do have here. I bought my mini Wooly Pocket for just $18 and am floored at the new planting I'll be hanging from it and my wall soon. Service was friendly and since I'm an out of towner, appreciated. Also LOVED the little homemade "not for children's eyes" cards up front. Take a look and flip through them for some laughs and you might just leave with one for an occasion. read more

I live in San Diego, but I wanted to have flowers sent to my good friend in Portland for her wedding. She was having a small courthouse wedding and my friends and I wanted to make sure she felt our presence even though we couldn't be there. Not wanting to send some run-of-the-mill, impersonal bouquet, I did some research into local flower shops. I choose Emerald for a couple of reasons: first, their bouquets are gorgeous! The pictures on their website are beautiful, but pictures from Yelp show me bouquets that are just as pretty (so you know their bouquets are consistently that nice!). Second, I liked that they are an eco-friendly shop and use local and seasonal flowers. It made me feel like my friend would be getting the freshest, prettiest flowers! I worked directly with Hilary in ordering the bouquet. She was wonderful- she took the time to tell me about the types of flowers she had available and was so flexible with my budget. Everything came boxed for easy transport, and the men's pieces were labeled. That was a helpful touch at the last minute. The selection here is all over the board, from tiny arrangements of succulents in vintage pots, to giant orchids and local greenery. Hilary just created some arrangements for our wedding over labor day weekend. They took my breath away! We didn't give her much direction other than very basic requests, and so I was amazed to see what she came up with. She made three large, dramatic arrangements, 6 smaller table top arrangements, and some garland to tie to the trees we were getting married under. She also made my wrist corsage, my mother and mother-in-law's corsages and husband's boutonniere. Although the sizes of her creations were so different, the textures and colors were brilliantly put together without being too matchy. She made our wedding so much more beautiful! This shop is so beautiful! Lovely inspiring arrangements of botanics and new handcrafted and vintage vessels abound in every direction, and there's a fantastic age-eroded greenhouse housing potted plants that is pure joy to view. I get flowers here every week if possible (although many flowers are so fresh that they last long enough for me to skip a week) and the owner is always so sweet, and happy to answer questions or dig out the perfect thing from the back room to finish a bouquet. I can always fill up a vase with an eclectic mix for $12 tops! The selection is more limited than a typical florist, but that's because most of the flowers are local, seasonal and sustainably grown. I always find something I am happy with, and having some limitations means I try things I normally wouldn't notice at a bigger shop. Every time I run errands after picking up an arrangement I get compliments on the lovely flowers I'm carrying. Use your Supportland card to get punches towards a free arrangement! read more

I found this florist on Yelp since I wanted to support a local business to order a bouquet for my son and daughter-in-law who just moved to Portland. After reading their great reviews and satisfied customer comments, I decided to call Emerald Petals. I was unable to request specific flowers for the arrangement since I'm in the northeast and not aware of what is fresh and available in the northwest at this time.
