She was very patient with me and had some great ideas about what we could do with my hair -- mostly because I'm always kinda' like, meh, do whatever you think would look good. The color was nice. The cut was great. Heather is skilled, knows what she's doing, and really made me feel like I was in good hands. I think my cut was ~$80, and my color plus foils was ~$290 -- a little pricey but it's quality work. I'll be going back. The shop and atmosphere: The salon is filled with art for sale by local artists, which I really appreciate. There are also offerings of beer, wine, coffee, tea, and water for customers -- I mean, it doesn't get much better than that. In terms of parking, there are spots on the street nearby, but the salon also shares a small private lot with the business next door (facing the salon, it's the driveway to the right) which is a lifesaver, especially for that busy area of town. The receptionist and others stylists all seems friendly, hip, and chill -- in a relaxed way and not a douchey way. I can totally imagine folks of all ages feeling welcome there. Again, I'll be going back. The only slightly odd thing about my whole experience was that the salon keeps your credit or debit card info on file to hold you accountable for last-minute cancelations, those who are atrociously late, and whatnot. And I totally get it -- it's a business and stylists lose money when that kinda' thing happens (which I'm sure is annoyingly frequent). However, it was still weird to hand over my financial information for them to store. At least it makes paying easier at the end of the appointment. TL;DR: Heather is great, shop is nice, there's free beer and parking, don't no-show like a jerk.

You get everything and more when it comes to their pricing! They have amazing Aveda products and inventory. Most importantly, the salon is well run, and very clean. The owner Susan hands down is the best along with her color specialist and make up artist Tamra is just as amazing! I go every 6 weeks to get root touch up, color gloss, and a nice glass of wine! After I had to find a new stylist, I panicked, I had to find someone that would listen to my opinion know what styles, colors, and cuts I like and add their input. I want to be able to trust my stylist to give me what I want, but also add in their expertise when giving me updated looks. A friend recommended Ryan Rumpel. I took a chance and I am so happy I did. Ryan is in a small salon in Buckhead. The location is great! Ryan told me it might be difficult to find, so he gave me detailed directions. My "directionally challenged" self actually found it the fist time. NICE! I walked up the staircase into a small but charming salon. Ryan was still with a client but greeted me immediately and asked me to have a seat and relax while I waited. Ryan was finished with his other client within 5 minutes, which was exactly on time for my set appointment. Ryan immediately sat down and started asking me what I was looking for in a cut and color. I showed him several pictures of hair styles and colors I liked, but told him I wanted to be able to give him the trust to pick the best option for my face structure & skin tone. Ryan listened to everything I told him about what I knew I liked and didn't like when it came to hair styles. He was detailed and made me aware of all costs so that I was able to know what I was going to get and not have "sticker shock". I let Ryan take the lead with choosing my color and I am so happy I did. My cut and color came are perfect!!! I am so happy Ryan was recommended to me. I am now his faithful client. Just a few extra notes I think are great... Not that the big salons aren't great, but I love the attention I get from a small salon with a few stylists. Your stylist can become like family when you are with them for years, so I need to be able to trust my stylist as well as be able to talk to them. Ryan chatted about his life and family and I discussed my life stories...I mean aren't hairstylists basically therapists that make you look better? I would highly recommend Ryan for women and men. He had a male client, that I believe is also a friend that came in for a quick haircut. Ryan was able to fit him in last minute and they discussed different men's styles. I actually enjoyed listening to the different men's hair styles...I learned something new. So, ok guys, if you're bald you won't want to go here...but if you have hair, Ryan is your guy! Ladies, trust me, Ryan is an amazing stylist and also a genuine person that loves what he does. He knows hair, knows styles, trends and what to do toile his clients look their best! This is a small salon with a couple stylists doing their own thing. Prices are beyond low...I seriously laughed when he told me the cost for my cut and color, I actually told him "you're kidding, right? That's way too cheap", but Ryan was quick to say that he charges for services. I know exactly what that means, I'm not paying for the overhead and marketing of a large salon, I am paying the stylist for their services. That to me is what I want! The salon is located in quaint little white house. It blended in so well with the residential houses that I almost passed it. I was nervous about parking, but they do have a gravel lot in the back of the salon to accommodate more clients. When I walked into the salon, I felt kind of fancy schmancy and thought to myself, I totally feel like Elle Woods right now. The clientele seemed like they got some moola in their pockets. The salon seemed really lively and conversations floweth left and right. Being Asian, I was really concerned with how the highlights were going to turn out. I was emphatic on not having any copper tinge to my highlights. The process took 1.5 hrs for a whole head highlight. My hairdresser was very thorough. It was considerate (and prudent) of her to ask me if I liked the color before she proceeded. I okayed it, even though it was difficult to tell what color it was due to the lighting in the back. I was happy with the results. I did not look too hoochi mama but you could definitely tell I have high lights. While I was there, the owner, M. Azar, stopped by and asked me how I was doing, assured me that my hair would look fantabulous, and checked up on me when I was finished. My hairdresser also offered me h2o in a champagne plastic cup (fancy (some sarcasm)). Overall I was very happy with the results. The price tag was $230 for full head highlight (170), blow-dry and style (30) and tip. Luckily, the net price was half that ( danke Scoutmob!). Even so, I cringed at the price. Oh well, I'll try anything at least once. I did feel a little fantabulous afterwards. One weird thing is they don't have a tip line on cc payments. So I had to tip in debit. One thing I did not approve of was the hairdresser basically stood there to see how much tip I was going to leave. Then she thought I wasn't going to leave a tip bc I didn't have any cash on me, so she had this grim expression on her face. Hold your horses lady, I tip! I don't think that's good etiquette.

She was very straight forward and understood what I wanted without complications. I wanted my hair out of my face, half up with curls. I did not get the name of the wonderful young lady who did my makeup. She was very honest about what she could and could not do and did a great job. I wanted a basic cat eye with fake lashes and foundation that will cover my redness. I do recommend you bring pictures of what you want. It will help the staff and if you are like me, sometimes it is hard to express exactly what you want. I paid $125 for both makeup and hair. I will come back!

When booking, the reservation said to allot 1 hour for hair and 30 minutes for makeup. My entire appointment was less than 40 minutes. I ultimately do not feel I was listened to or that time and attention was given to me. Further, my blowout did not last long. The bounce and waves were beginning to fall out of my hair before I even made it to me event that night. For makeup, I specially asked for a natural look, stating my face does not do well with much makeup. I explained a horrible past experience and feel my time with Heat was nearly a repeat. The stylist rushed through the application and did not even have my wash my face before beginning. She said she would be applying neutral and nude colors but I ended up with extremely dark eyes and chocolate colored lips. The look was completely opposite of what I asked for. For someone who doesn't invest much into self care, I expected more of this appointment. It was my first day to myself after having a baby so I was prepared to leave feeling confident and pampered. I left feeling extremely ashamed of how I looked. It was a wasted $90.
