Emerald Nails saved my New Years 2022!! ( pics are of the other nail salon ruining my nails and was far from being "Sparkle" and Emerald Nails fixing them!!) I know I'm kind of late with this review but I didn't forget to do it. I was visiting my family in SA. I picked a nail salon and went to get my nails to "Sparkle" for NYE but it was more than lackluster-- it was horrific, I literally cried. So my sister took me back to make it "Sparkle" but the male nail tech who did it was so rude and asked what's wrong with my nails!?-- please look at the pictures and you tell me!! My sister took me to Her nail salon she goes to regularly, EMERALD NAILS FOR THE WIN!! It was a rainy day and I was lucky they took me in as a walk in!! There were 2 nail techs- 1 was the owner, forgot her name but possibly was Kathy. Nail tech was honest with me and advised me to keep what I have and she would make it better. She didn't just try to remove them and do them from scratch to make more money. She is so talented and reshaped my nails to the coffin style I wanted originally and let me pick a new color- the wave! My frown turned upside down :) and I couldn't stop staring at my makeover-nails!! You can see the difference in the before and after pictures - She did a great job! Her own nails that she did herself were beautiful designs!! She mentioned that they don't overbook or rush thru customers and typically go by appointments only rarely take walks ins but it was meant to be for me- they're Quality over Quantity which I prefer. Kathy is the owner of this salon and has been a since I've been going to her. I've been a regular customer for over 2 years. There are three regular licensed nail techs at this salon. It's small so they are ALWAYS busy. It's one of the few nail salons that require an appointment if you must be seen right away. Kathy and Lee are the most senior and very talented nail technicians. They will try new techniques all the time so their designs are usually the latest. Take a picture in from Pinterest and they will do their best to duplicate it. I have gone to 3 highly rated nail salons in this area over the course of 21 years and they are the best if you can get in to see them. They take the time to learn your individual needs for your nails and will design them accordingly. Sometimes too long for me, but they listen. They both speak fluent English. Helen is the mani-pedi technician. She does a good job and does not rush. Her English is not a polished as Kathy or Lee's. The technician with all the bad reviews is no longer at this salon, so don't let those few nails ad reviews stop you. They don't take credit cards that are not in your name, or Visa gift cards, or Amex ( which annoys me but I make due). This is a small business and they cut costs where they can and try to avoid fraud. They shouldn't get a one star review for that. Try them out, especially if you live near the salon. They are convenient to Bulverde and Evans right next to Walgreens. read more

Needed a last minute manicure for an event this weekend and decided to try this salon. I've been doing my nails myself for the past year due to not being able to find a salon I liked. I told the lady how I was very picky about the shape of my nails and she made sure it was exactly what I wanted. I showed her a reference picture for the color and she matched it perfectly. I've been coming to this location for years & they've always done a wonderful job on my nails. However I went in about 3 weeks ago & my experience was awful. I believe it was the owner who did my nails, I'm not entirely sure though. I showed her a few photos of the design I was wanting & she told me at first she could do it ( see photo 1 ) and then about 10 minutes later she said she couldn't do the design because it wouldn't look the same. I told her it was okay I would pick something else. I chose a more basic design. Well when it comes time for her to do the design she tried to do the original one I had wanted & I was very appreciative of her at least trying. She did the design on one nail & it looked really bad so I told her I would rather just do a basic French tip. She got extremely angry & began yelling at me that she told me she couldn't do it to begin with. I couldn't get a word in because she was speaking so fast & yelling at me in front of everyone. She then got up & grabbed a completely different color & said " let me do my own design on it ". And at that point I told her I didn't want a design at all just my nails finished so I could leave after her screaming at me. She completely ignored me & starts doing a random design I didn't ask for & when I kept telling her not to do it she kept repeating "just let me finish my design! " after she finished her design I told her I didn't like it & she continued yelling at me for not liking it. And at that point I was so embarrassed & just wanted to leave & asked her to please do the French tips & so she did. They weren't awful, but didn't look very good either & I wasn't about to argue with her after the way she acted earlier so I just didn't say a word the rest of the appointment. I paid, tipped her bc she still did the work & I was a service worker for years so I feel bad not tipping regardless of terrible service. My nails were muddy looking where she did the French tip. In person the lines didn't look clean at all. And my nails were super wide. (See photo 2) & I paid $90 for these. I ended up going to Ivy Nails & spa & having them redone. Which cost me another $35. Her screaming at me for not liking her design she made up & for not liking the original design was not okay. I wasn't ugly to her at any point & I very nicely said I didn't like it & I would rather just do the French tips without any extra designs. She had no reason to be so mean & yell at me like that. I've never had a bad experience at this location until now. Maybe she was having a bad day & took it out on me, idk. Either way I won't be coming back. read more

So there's those moments when you just can't make it to your regular nail salon. I was in a crunch and knew that driving to my normal salon would just not be practical. Since this little shop was in walking distance of my work I thought "why not" ‍Huge mistake!!!! Aside from the roughest grabbing and moving of my hands, I had the pleasure of paying for THE WORST SNS powder dip I have ever had!!! Every nail was bumpy and margins were terrible!!! One even looked like a bubble. Don't worry I've included pictures. I really should have made them redo BUT I was headed out of town and couldn't afford to kill time. I was so embarrassed of my hands within a couple days I had them removed. I would almost be willing to say my daughter ( who is not a license nail tech ) could have done a better job! No worries I'll never make that mistake again! read more

My daughter and I had gel pedis today and are both very pleased. The service was professional, courteous, and above and beyond most nail salons. There was some delay from what seemed like over booking for the same time. But they apologized and made up for it. They were friendly, thoughtful and interesteded in our comfort and feelings about their pedi process. Most nail salons today have terrible service. They seem to have no idea what American women like - cleanliness, a warm welcome, a polite invitation to look at nail colors, immediate treatment that has been requested (not getting plopped in a pedi chair and ignored for 10,15,20 minutes), clean tools and new files, clean foot sink with individual plastic covers that are changed after each client, kind invitations to put your foot up or put it in the water (not rude grunting or pushing or pulling ones foot), a clean restroom, being offered water to drink, being offered magazines to read, getting assistance starting up the massager on the chair, and just respectful service that sends a message of appreciation that you have come to their business. read more

I loved this place. These ladies do a great job & have normally been very friendly. I know we are on hard times, but something went very awry today and I don't understand. I reached out twice by phone to schedule with Leigh and kept being told call back next week she's really busy, I tried again at a time I knew they'd be opened and it goes straight to vm, so I drove over there hoping they didn't close. No they didn't, I walked in to make an appointment, there was 2, maybe 3 customers....their shoulders dropped and they did not look happy that I wanted to make an appointment. They made it but was definitely not happy. I ended up going down the road and made an appointment at a place that was glad to have me and was taking great precautions for their customers. Glad I found them, but really sad Emerald Nails was so put out that I wanted to be a paying customer. read more

Got a manicure from these ladies and they were very sweet but such in a rush that my nails came out terrible!!! I made a yelp just to tell people not to come here! Im so angry that when I called to get a refund I was told I couldnt get one. They offered to redo them but they look so bad that I dont even want to go back! Visited this place for my first time on Saturday. Sadly to say I will not be returning. Got a Mani and pedi. Did a good job painting my nails but as far as the normal pedicure and manicure process, it felt very rushed. If you're looking for a nice relaxing massage, this is not the place to go. The worst part of my experience is that when we moved over to do the manicure, she sat me at a station where they had just done someone else's nails. The towel was dirty and there were nail clippings on it. I don't know why I didn't say anything but that is not OK. read more

Honestly the worst pedicure I have ever gotten. It's been a while since I've had a pedicure so I needed a good cleanup. With a new baby at home I don't have many opportunities to get my nails done. They barely did anything to clean and trim up my toes. She barely scrubbed my feet, cut my nails uneven and barely cleaned up cuticles or skin around my nails. There was barely any sort of massage or scrub (she didn't go above my ankles). My husband could have done a better job painting my nails. There is nail polish all around my toes that was not cleaned up. After less than 5 minutes of drying at the seat she put on my shoes. I hate to be so harsh but don't want anyone else to have the same experience. Hopefully this was just a fluke, I hope they are successful. read more
