Seamus, his son, and the rest of the crew are hardworking, knowledgeable, and clearly take pride in what they do, which makes total sense considering they've been around since the early 90s. They're family owned and have done so many driveways and properties in the area, you see their work everywhere. The quality is excellent and really holds up over time. What impressed me most was their honesty and customer care. Years after my driveway was done, I called just to ask how to take care of it during the snow. They actually sent someone out to look at it and give advice, and didn't charge me a thing. That says a lot about the kind of company they are. Highly recommend. I think Shamus & his son were very pleasant to work with! Their crew was friendly and professional. I can maybe see what the other reviews were saying about lack of communication. They quoted our driveway, to be done in 3 different periods. They basically just call ahead that day and show up lol. But for us, this wasn't a big deal at all. We were just happy to have someone show up, after being totally blown off by other contractors! At the end of the day, the job was completed for the original quoted price, no surprises. Was completed in our time frame (wanted it done before winter). And the driveway looks great! Thank you Shamus, we will definitely be using you to complete our backyard patio come spring. read more

Absolutley horrible service! Had to chase for dates of service! It has been two months and the job still is not finished according to what was discussed. The parts of the job they did complete were done horribly! When approached about the unfinished work the owner was argumentative and rude! They were suppose to expand the driveway and resurface the area to the right. Then do a walkway to the back yard! The pictures show what was completed! They left holes in my yard on the side of the driveway and the walkway looks uneven! They wont pick up or call me back to complete the job!!! read more

I would never recommend this paving company. Literally the most unprofessional way of doing business. It took them 2 months just to show up for work and the day we're ready to get rolling they show up an hour and a half late and Shameus gets very impatient due to a 10 min conversation of us figuring out the dimension change he just brought up. He stormed off with his equipment and his guys and says "He's not doing this". The worst experience I've ever had, is with these guys. read more

I wish there was a negative rating. Several years ago, they did a patio that has since needed repair (only four years. There is a spot that is sinking. We had called them several times and at one point, had set up a time to come and repair their subpar work. They canceled and have not returned phone calls. Do not waste your money. If anyone from the organization reads this: You are crooks. Despicable work with horrific customer service. Had these guys do an install. Everything went great. To get them to return a phone call or do a repair? Forget it. After throwing them 2 other jobs in the 10s of thousands of dollars , won't use them ever again. From the start these guys were bad communicators. After receiving an estimate, they never told me they would mail one. Not a big deal, but nonetheless I called a few times to ask for the quote. Okay fine. Rip out of old driveway went smooth. The mason work began trouble. Walkway completed first and sand between pavers was sloppy and edge pavers had little to no sand. Called owner and she showed up, agreed it was sloppy and had the guys re do it. Driveway skirt began, but a miscalculation in pavers lead to a halt in work. My driveway was left half done for weeks which meant I couldn't drive on it. With shortages in pavers, I understand they couldn't do anything about it but the initial miscalculation could've been avoided. Okay fine. Masons mistakenly took my nozel for hose with them, called owner and he reassured me they wouldn't have done that. It's a low cost item, I know, but fine mistakes happen. Needless to say it showed up when masons came back. Mason work completed finally after weeks of waiting. 8 pavers chipped and owner reassured me they would replace when more pavers came in. Spoiler alert, never were replaced. Asphalt completed, scratched several pavers, uneven blacktop and edges not level with pavers. Workers accidentally broke hose spicket now. I called owner to inform him of this and asked if they could fix or pay for repair. Owner got defensive and angry and said he'd talk to the guys about it. Put in a few calls since and it's been weeks with no reply. As you can tell, I won't be recommending these guys to anyone. It's a shame I wanted to give the money to a small local company. I didn't think this would all happen. I could look past all of it, it they conducted the end better. I wish they would've looked at my water spicket to come up with a solution. Now I have to spend money to fix that because it's leaking, burst my hose etc. This wasn't a cheap project and now is ultimately costing me way more than originally intended. read more

Just had a new bluestone stoop installed by Shamus and crew. It came out absolutely perfect and really makes a dramatic difference to the entrance of my home. He had to reschedule a couple of times, but I was OK with that. They were professional and did a very clean job, and his price was very reasonable. Although this company came highly recommended from dear friends and coworkers the finish product did not meet our expectations. Eight weeks after the job was complete I had 81 acorn's growing through the asphalt several attempts were made to have shamus the owner of the company come and look at what a horrible job his company had done. After complaint after complaint he finally sent his Son to fix the problem. When he arrived he told me they must be dug out with a screwdriver in which he proceeded to do after this he remelted the existing blacktop pushing it into the holes with his boot. When I asked him isn't that going to leave a void where the acorn was he told me that it would all settle evenly. Well after several months I now have 81 divots in my driveway and several crack and other imperfections and the total job. He also did a part of our sidewalk in cement which has totally cracked all the way through.after several appointments that have been ignored and phone calls not returned I am less than satisfied with this entire job the owner shamus is not a man of his word and doesn't stand behind his work. It's a shame because the people that recommended and spoke very highly of him I guess he reputation means nothing to Emerald Isle paving and it's owner shamus. read more

Remember that paving is a three-part process. I am in that process. It is always disruptive and there is work for the homeowner to do depending on your project and goals. If you are ready for that then this can be an enjoyable experience and the result is always worth it. This is an excellent company of very hard-working individuals. The result so far has already improved my property curb appeal. Scheduling can be impacted by weather so try to be flexible. I had to wait a long time to start my job and was rescheduled several times for various reasons but they are worth waiting for. When my project is complete I will upload photos. A word to those who are planning this type of work. They will give you instructions to follow in between like how long to stay off your driveway, when to drive on it and to wet it down if it's not raining enough to help it compact. These are things you need to do if you want a good final result that lasts. read more

Wish there were zero stars. We never did get the job done so I can't say what type of work they do. However I can't say that they don't show up for their appointments to do the work. When you call that they are late they tell you that they will be there later. Later comes and goes and they never show. We called the next day and they reschedule for 3 days later with no apology. Just a reluctant crude nonprofessional attitude you get. Monday 8:30 AM appointment comes and goes. We leave at 12:30 thinking they are not interested apparently. I call the next day to tell them it's ok we have another company to do the work. I am yelled at and told they couldn't do the work because they don't know what stone we want. We had several phone calls with the office who never asked and told us we don't have to be there for the first visit because it's excavation only. They were so rude and didn't care that we kept waiting all day. They never bothered to ever call and say they would be late or not coming. When you call them you are bothering them. I waited a month for the first appointment so 5 weeks later I had to hire another company. Very bullyish attitude. So if you like to be treated like garbage definately call this company. If not look elsewhere. read more
