While vacationing in Destin my friends and I saw a sign "Free wine tasting" at Emerald Coast Wine Cellars. Yes please! Bonus, we could walk there from our Airb&b. We were warmly greeted by Angie who was finishing up a tasting with another group. We waited maybe five minutes for her to set us up. We completed an entry form for a monthly drawing to win wine which they will ship to your home if you win! Angie educated us on the muscadine grapes grown at the winery to make all types is wine. They grow carlos, white grapes, and noble, red grapes. We sampled at least 10 wines. I purchased one bottle of blackberry and one bottle of white sangria. These were my favorites! I also purchased a stemless wine glass with their logo for $4. The wine I purchased was reasonably priced. And I loved supporting a local winery! I also suggest trying a pretzel and a cracker which were in containers on the wine bar. They sell these yummy seasoning packets to which I bought two flavors lol. I wanted to go to a winery on vacation and weather was raining so when's a better time to relax and enjoy some wine from Florida!! We went in and the ladies at counter were very nice and showed us over to counter where a very nice gentleman was ready to give us samples of wine for free.. all the wines we tried were good but a few stood out and we purchased few bottles to bring home to NC! The store itself was so cute! Lots of beach theme gifts and trinkets ! It was hard to just get the wine and go but that's what we ended up doing. The experience was horrible!! I have been to Destiny 8 times since 2021 and have never experienced racism until I visited Emerald Coast Wine Cellar and Boutique . The wine pourer, Allen never gave us eye contact, served us last for Every Pour and gave us the least, the size of a baby spit. When he was addressed about the pour it was less than that. This winery is not far from the beach. It was pretty slow for a Sunday so parking which is limited in front of the establishment was no issue. Upon arrival we browsed the store and opted to do a tasting. Little did we know this winery is a sister location to Chautauqua winery in DeFuniak Springs. While doing the tasting we got to know a little bit about the man hosting it. He is actually retired and living in Destin and moved from Jersey or New York. He also told us that their wine can be shipped, unfortunately living in KY there is a stupid law that alcohol cannot be shipped to a private residence. We tasted just about every wine there was and they were the exact same ones from their sister company as mentioned previously. We were surprised to know that the tasting was free. We did end up buying a bottle so that way we didn't feel we took advantage but yet again surprised that there was no charge for the tasting. This is a great winery to visit on the Emerald Coast and the only one in the Destin area. Do intend on coming back next trip there. They offered free wine tastings and we got to try all the wines listed on the menu (excluding the wines not in season/out of stock). It's common for Florida wines to be made with Muscadine grapes which are known for being sweet, so prepare your expectations for a majority of the wines to be sweeter/dessert wines. We bought two bottles of the favorites we tried, the Merlot (dry) and the Blush (a sweet mix of the Noble and Carlos wines). If you're staying in Miramar beach, this is worth a visit as a free experience with friends. read more

Had a really good experience here. It's a 2 story building . Both floors are filled with items you can purchase, some are not wine related. On the first floor there is a wine tasting area with local wines they make. I would recommend for anyone in the area as a unique experience. Some wines are really unique. My wife and I stopped in here while on vacation. We were staying down the road in Destin, but it's the only winery in the area. I am glad we stopped in for the tasting. We were able to try everything, but all the wines were on the sweet side, so my wife who is a dry red drinker couldn't find anything she liked. I liked most of what I tried though. It's a little shop for the most part, but the wine counter is where the tasting takes place. The parking is difficult on a busy day, but the people were really nice and advised me on the parking situation (so I didn't park illegally- don't park along the street out front!). I would stop back in when we're in the area again to get some more wine for my sweet tooth. Also enjoyed tasting the wine and talking to the person behind the counter about the area! read more

Okay so I absolutely love wineries this one was really good because they had so many sweet wines. We looked around before we headed over to do some tasting. It was a two story building with a lot of things to look at! The ladies inside were very friendly ! This is one of the wineries were I actually enjoyed almost every one they had lol! We ended up buying only four of their wines since we had already stocked up wine at World Market on the way to the beach . The only wine I remember not liking was their chocolate wine and their sherries! Which is odd because I absolutely love the chocolate shoppe wine from world market . If you are a blueberry fan, I found their blueberry wine more enchanting than blueberry pie. The other berry selections may appeal to many but the blueberry is special to me. I'm not a sweet wine drinker, however, as sweet as the blueberry is, it resembles a good merlot to me. The tasting bar could be a little more generous . In my opinion, you should definitely look into their wines if you enjoy sweeter, very fruity wines. They also have a few types of sherry, port and a sparkling white. In addition to their wines, you'll also find a pretty impressive selection of stemware, wine accessories and some pretty delicious-looking sauces, marinades,syrups, etc. It's time for you all to get away from your vacuum-sealed Box O' Blush and try some local fermentation. LOVED this place. I went in with my sister and her boyfriend on our family vacation in miramar beach. Both the cashier and the lady pouring the wine were so friendly and sassy. I am a now a new lover of muscadine red wines! I usually stay away from red wines bc I'm still new at the whole "wine lovers world". The wines are a little sweeter than normal but I love that! I walked away buying 6 bottles while my sister and her bf walked away with a whole case. The shop was more of a gift shop more than of a wine place when comparing the space of gifts to wine. It's a nice place, but misnamed. It's a gift shop. Their wines were reminiscent of Barefoot, both in style and presentation. Though their designation may technically be "winery," fully half the store was a boutique, which I took to be the focus of the business. This in and of itself is fine; I have no grudge against trying to make a profit, for I myself am determined to join the ranks of the rich someday. Still, as someone who appreciates wine as an art form, I was disappointed to find almost no art to speak of. Maybe we just didn't look hard enough to find the actual wine cellars themselves. In any case, my partner and I left shortly after arriving. To those who view Applebee's as fine dining and Bud Select as high-quality beer, this is your spot. To sommeliers and wine enthusiasts, sticking the "Wine Cellar" label on the building is something of a mockery, and I suspect you will be disappointed. read more

We visited this wonderful place several years ago, bought several bottles to bring back to Michigan with us. I also purchased 3 or 4 bottles to be sent to us back home. This year I was very disappointed to find out that wine can no longer be shipped to Michigan. I would have been a little happier if someone from the company had notified me of this right away, but after waiting 30 days, I called, and found out the above. Don't know when the law changed, but don't like it.... A little winery tasting room off one of the main roads in the area. The wines are mainly sweet and made from 2 varietals. A highlight is the sherry, especially the vanilla bean one. This place is awesome! They have a lot of wonderful, delicious, and REASONABLY PRICED wines. The staff is really nice. This is a super cute place to stop while on vacation. They don't have a lot of wines for those into merlot or pinot noir, but make sure you try their Carlos. They have the BEST sherry and ports I've ever tasted.
