Before you book a physical therapy practice, ask them 3 questions:…read more 1) How long is a session? 2) How many minutes of your session are spent on the table with a Dr. of physical therapy (as opposed to practicing your exercises or being handed off to somebody else)? 3) If you have a doctor's prescription to treat an acute issue -- such as for your ankle or knee or shoulder -- do they limit their treatment to the prescribed area, or do they treat the whole body as it is affected by the injury? I've had the misfortune of needing PT many times. I have been to a few practices and never disliked a therapist, but when I found Pro Motion in 2008, that's when I realized what I'd been missing. Ask the questions above, compare to Pro Motion, and you'll quickly eliminate 99% of other PT practices. All the therapists here are top notch and share the same philosophy. The only negative about Pro Motion is that it's hard to get an appointment. However, once you're in, as they schedule subsequent months they'll find slots for you.

I instantly liked her movement approach to healing. She takes the time to understand your specific situation and what is going on with your body. She very quickly identified solutions and exercises I could work on and retrain my body to better support my neck. Jenny April figured out exactly how my body would "cheat" and made me so much more aware of my habits so when I do my exercises, I know what to look out for. Jenny April is awesome at thinking holistically your treatment as well. I've tried some of her other suggestions, such as acupuncture and cupping, which have been great additions to my routine. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable, she is super fun to be around! Highly recommend!

I had 3 months from the date of my surgery to recondition my wrist to be able to bend before the cartilage kind of freezes. At that point you permanently lose full capability. It's a biological timeline. So working on range of motion is paramount. At ATI I was provided puddy, a strength web, a hand strengthener, etc... We worked on range of motion for a couple minutes on my 4th or so visit. I never knew I was in a race against time. The people there were nonchalant and told me very little. I was left with a receptionist at times who said "you don't know how to do that?" when I asked for guidance. Eventually she looked it up. My physical therapist was two feet away not introducing herself or helping me. My new doctor, who again is a specialist can't believe how negligent they were. Now I have to face the real possibility that my wrist will never have full capability because I chose this physical therapist chain. I've gone to a physical therapist in DC who worked with me my entire session. That was my only other experience with physical therapy. Here, your physical therapist may be speaking with an employees across the room, working with a patient with more significant needs, or sitting with you but not paying attention to the exercise you're doing. I actually wonder why I go. I do need physical therapy but they're very comfortable having you work alone for much of your appointment. It's absurd. It really feels like you're bothering them when you have a question or need guidance. Or if you get guidance it might be from feet away because the physical therapist is helping someone else so the entire gym hears. I could go on. I genuinely feel like they're annoyed I'm there like I didn't have an appointment and pay. It's been unhelpful and awkward.

The scheduling, intake and assessment went well, to the point that I could immediately see what I would need to be working on. Staff members communicate well with me and with each other. I recently needed to address an error I made in my appointment time, and staff were quick to assist me with the connection I was trying to make in navigating the process.

I highly advise against this location. The culture here is one of forcing the staff's ideas and…read morenarratives onto the children and parents. The team treats parents with disdain - they act like they are above everyone. It's as if you (the parents) are there to serve them and not vice versa. There is no consideration of working parents - you will be at their office when they tell you - and when you do show up for scheduled therapy appointments, it's not uncommon to wait 15-20 minutes for the therapist-- again reinforcing the idea that, you and your time is of lessor importance than the staff. At no time did it feel like a team environment (staff + parents working together) - rather, it was the staff speaking at the parents - with a heavy bias to keep the child in the program as long as possible. As I recall, the program operates on a four-week cycle. So, if you are there on week 5, you get to do the same things you did in week one. My child became agitated with the repetition - wanting to cover topics they hadn't already made significant progress on. This became another point of contention with the therapist, who only seemed focused on keeping my child as long as insurance allowed. The doctor they have on staff is based out of New York and spends a (virtual) whole 5 - 15 minutes with the child, all the meanwhile prescribing medications rapid fire. In the end, it got so ridiculous that the therapist told my child that if she left the program early, she wouldn't get a graduation party. It was almost like they were playing a game of chicken with us. My child saw it for what it was and decided not to return. In summary, I highly recommend against this Embark location.

The therapist on the bills were not the actual therapist There were all sorts of treatment costs that were supposed to be covered by my insurance but Embark kept demanding money from me Staff would constantly lie They'd claim they had spoken to my child's previous therapist or guidance counselor but that was not true. When I said my son would be seeing his pediatrician, they said that was not allowed When I said my son would be receiving his social services they brought me into the office claiming it was "therapy" with my son, but I didn't see my son. Instead the staff yelled at me for "treatment interference" When the county advocate tried to join a call with them, they banned her from communication and once again sent bullying emails. Again my son has received incredible treatment from other facilities Embark, is a scam, they will bully, lie and charge your insurance half a million dollars to get rich

I am 70 years old and have been getting migraines since I was 18. Every four weeks he does trigger point injections (also called dry needling) in my neck and shoulder area, and every 12 weeks he injects Botox in my skull. Since I started the combination of these two treatments, my migraines have decreased from more than 15 days a month to 7 days or less every month. I have found Dr. Klaiman to be extremely knowledgeable about pain management and how to treat different medical issues. He is the co-founder of "Point Performance" and was named by his peers as one of Washingtonian magazine's "Top Docs" for the past several years. In addition, Dr. Klaiman is one of the nicest, warmest people I know. He is extremely caring and spends as much time as I need to discuss my medical problems. Moreover, he is virtually always on time - an unusual thing for a doctor to be. Dr. Klaiman's office staff are wonderful. Kelly, his nurse, couldn't be nicer. And his front office receptionists, especially Yocelyn, are helpful, pleasant, caring, and knowledgeable about insurance. His massage therapist on staff, named Cherron, is fabulous! I have not had occasion to use the services of any of the physical therapists on staff. When Dr. Klaiman moved his office to its current location on Goldsboro Drive in Bethesda a couple of years ago, he replaced all the front office staff - which was great because they were sometimes rude and unpleasant. The new office space at 6400 Goldsboro Road in Bethesda (close to River Road) is gorgeous and also has free parking. Dr. Klaiman is very well educated and trained. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Columbia University. He is board certified and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1994. He received his acupuncture training through the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1995. In sum, I could not be more pleased with the quality of care that I receive from Dr. Mark Klaiman.
