Dr. Tipton is a pscyhologist who was referred to me as a therapist who focused on Cognitive…read moreBehavior Therapy which for me was a perfect fit. I only went to her for a couple of months and her advice sometimes was beneficial, however in general, none of it seemed too life changing and more similar to common sense one could easily get from a friend. However, she did have a sharp memory which I admired. Also, since I was exhausted from trying to find a therapist that actually accepted Health Insurance (rare) I figured I would give it a fair chance to see if it helped me improve my life. Had I been writing this review while going to her I would have given her 4 stars because she accepted insurance and because her focus was on CBT. I thought she and I had a very polite, friendly relationship. I was always on time (slightly early in fact.) I was always kind to her. etc.. Toward the end I was left car less for a few months and told her that when I finally had a car again I would call her back and restart therapy. She agreed. Finally that time arrived and this time I really needed support. My two cats of 16 years passed away within a month of each other. My father went to the hospital for perceived cancer. I had huge pressure in my career. Life was just hard. Not only that, I had started to experiment with taking the anti-depressant Citalopram to see if it would help with anxiety (I started it during my sessions with her a couple months before) I was starting to face difficulties with the drug and felt it necessary to have return 'talk therapy' to work out my issues with the drug. So... I called her to try to reschedule and left a message.. No response. I tried after to email her... no response. After being very discouraged and dreading to have to find another doctor, I called her again last week telling her that "I hope that she is okay and didn't get into an accident, but if she was okay that I would have appreciated for her to actually call me back and tell me that she had no room for me and then to please give me a reference to another doctor so that I have somewhere to turn"... No response.... In my opinion, this is an ethical issue. Had I been a client of hers that had been more fragile to non-responsive nature I fear that the result could discouraging toward future therapy at best or life threatening at worst. In fact, after experiencing this treatment with her I looked it up online and found many people complaining about therapists not calling them back. I am absolutely shocked that this type of unethical treatment of people in need happens. Especially toward someone who has finally taken to steps to heal/better themselves. I am not sure why this practice of non communication is allowed to exist in therapist community. But I see it as my duty to give a 1 start rating toward any therapist that feels comfortable with doing so. To all therapists: Return your calls! Don't leave someone in a painful time wondering what they did wrong! You then become part of the problem rather then the cure. If I eventually find out that she was in the hospital or any other life tragedy, I will change my rating, but until then, it stays as one star for being an unethical therapist.

So, choosing a therapist wasn't easy for me. I knew I had to work on my anxiety, and I knew what my…read moreinsurance was, and I knew I wanted to see a woman, but that left a lot of potential therapists in the area. Dr. Tipton was my third therapist attempt--the first was truly awful, and the second didn't focus on anxiety and so referred me to Dr. Tipton. I really consider it good luck that she had openings. I have absolutely zero complaints about Dr. Tipton. She helped teach me how to manage my anxiety myself, and that I could, in fact, manage my anxiety myself. When I would email for an appointment, she always had appointments available within a week or two. She was always prompt in seeing me, and her office was comfortable for me. She was prompt in returning emails, certainly, and was flexible about rescheduling for terrible weather, even offering a phone session when we had to postpone an appointment due to weather. And to address the first reviewer's complaints--I saw Dr. Tipton for about 18 months, and then I took a break for 6 months, without any real explanation to her, though it was becoming clear to both of us that I was managing my anxiety better. When I emailed her asking for a new appointment after all that time, she responded within a day, and scheduled my appointment within the week. So I'm not sure what happened to that other reviewer, but it certainly doesn't happen as a matter of course, and it certainly didn't happen to me.

During this whole time Kim has shown her expertise as a reunification therapist that has helped my sons and I through many sessions of reunification therapy. Kim has always put our children's best interest first and provided a safe and neutral space where everyone's feeling have been heard and validated. Kim has never taking sides but instead expertly guided us through difficult conversations at times. Kim has taught us skills on communication, active listening, rebuilding trust and more. Kim and her team of therapist and staff have always been professional and caring and I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a reunification therapist, family therapy, individual therapy and more to go to Olney Counseling! I'm very thankful and appreciate all that Kim has done for our children and both parents.

For anyone already dealing with anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns, I would strongly recommend being cautious before choosing this office. I booked through Zocdoc and later received a link to upload my insurance, ID, and other information. Then I received a call saying I needed to complete new patient paperwork. During that call, I was asked very personal and sensitive mental health questions, including questions about self-harm history and specific methods. These are questions I would expect to discuss with a doctor or trained clinician in a private and safe setting, not during a front-desk phone screening. It felt triggering and unprofessional. After the call, I was told I was good to go. I created an account in their portal and checked it carefully, but I did not see clear forms or instructions. The day before my appointment, I received a voicemail saying they had not received my paperwork, without clearly explaining what was missing. The next morning, my appointment was canceled, even though I had already taken time off work to attend. Before I even had a chance to meet the doctor, the process involved repeated steps, unclear communication, and a very stressful intake experience. For a psychiatry office, this matters. Patients seeking mental health care need a process that feels safe, organized, and supportive. Unfortunately, my experience made me feel dismissed and discouraged from seeking care there.

I came to him with genuine fears and concerns about the medications he was prescribing, as I've had bad side effects in the past--including from one of the medications he prescribed me. Instead of working with me patiently, listening, and helping me find a safer or more comfortable path forward, he abruptly decided to terminate me as a patient. Being dismissed this way made me feel terrible. As a psychiatrist, I expected understanding and support, especially when it came to my hesitation around trying new medications. Instead, I was told to just go see a therapist, which completely overlooked the fact that my struggles are specifically tied to medication management. In my opinion, a psychiatrist should have compassion and patience for their patients' fears, especially when those fears are rooted in real negative experiences with medication. Unfortunately, I did not feel that with Dr. Etesam, and it left me feeling unsupported at a time when I needed care the most.

I don't normally write reviews but Dr. Leda Kaveh has been my bright spot these last four years because she cares for her patients. One time I was going through several personal events at once and met with Dr. Leda Kaveh via phone almost twice a day for a week. I cannot say enough good things about her and how helpful she has been. One of the top therapists in this area. Cannot recommend her and this practice enough. Also, in response to their audio, technology is not always perfect. However, I know that has never stopped Dr. Kaveh from helping me. Washington Psychology Wellnesses, Nina Ravick is a wonderful therapist in many respects. She is…read moreknowledgeable, empathetic, and very easy to talk to. She was my therapist for almost three years, and I made real progress during the time we worked together. Unfortunately, the way our therapeutic relationship ended left me deeply disappointed. Nina decided that we should discontinue treatment because I would not give her permission to communicate with my psychiatrist. During our final session, I again made it explicitly clear that I did not consent to her contacting my psychiatrist or discussing my treatment with them. About one week after I had been discharged and was no longer Nina's client, I received a call from my psychiatrist's office informing me that Nina had contacted them and wanted to schedule a time to discuss my treatment plan. I immediately told the office that she was no longer my therapist and that I had expressly declined permission for that communication. Thankfully, my psychiatrist's office did not schedule the meeting. This was extremely upsetting to me. Regardless of the reason for wanting to communicate with my psychiatrist, I had explicitly said no. Privacy, boundaries, and informed consent are especially important to me in a therapeutic relationship, and I felt that my clearly stated wishes were not respected. I reported the incident to Washington Psychological Wellness, but I was never informed of an outcome or resolution. I'm not telling anyone that they shouldn't see Nina. In fact, for nearly three years I found her to be a compassionate and effective therapist who helped me make meaningful progress. I simply believe prospective clients should know about my experience and be clear about their own expectations regarding communication with other healthcare providers. I genuinely wish this had never happened, because it changed the way I look back on what had otherwise been a very positive and productive therapeutic relationship.
