Came for a few hours for a meeting. Flew in from out of town. Very minimal instructions were given to me to get here. Luckily it's all pretty straight forward when you arrive. If you're walking. That's easy. Just pop it into your GPS. If you're taking a cab then I would suggest putting as your destination "Devil Teeth Baking" as getting dropped off at other locations around the area is pretty chaotic (I mean it's already pretty chaotic as it is since you're in the financial district of San Fran). There are many businesses in here. But I came for a business meeting. So if youre going for something like that, you'll want to enter the cement building (no doors just opened entry) and go up one flight of stairs / escalators and head to the lobby. From there, you let them know that you have a meeting and on what floor and give them your name. They'll check in the database for it and then let you into the elevators. You hit the button and off you go. Some of my colleagues found parking around the area but they live here so much more familiar. They suggested to me to not have a car. The meeting space I was in was on the 12th floor and it was a few large meeting spots and some smaller offices that are rented out to different businesses. There's a wellness room and a business center with stationeries. I'm assuming every floor is different. Mine had some color to it. Plants, paintings, art etc. It felt a bit homier than what a generic office would look like. The people were chill too. Good spot. Decent value. Would host a meeting here again! read more

Embarcadero 2 has the 2024 Chinese New Year Parade Dragon on display. This will be used in the parade on Saturday, February 24, 2023. Whenever there is a new dragon or lion, there is an Eye Dotting ceremony (awakening of the dragon); a ritual practiced by martial artists and monks. It protects the performers from harm. If you look closely, you might be able to see "red" coloring on the dragon's eyes. This ritual is only used once - before the dragon is used for performances/displays. If you have the opportunity, drop by to see it. It's located on the corner of Sacramento and Drumm Streets. If you have time, walk around the 4 Embarcaderos to see/visit the different shops and restaurants. There's even a post office. read more

Embarcadero Center is an retail, commercial, entertainment, and office complex in San Francisco's Financial District. It includes the Hyatt Regency Hotel with it's rotating restaurant. Not to repeat what's already been said, but the Embarcadero Center's lower levels are a wonderful collection of retail stores and restaurants. But if you ever have a chance to go up into the high rise offices, you have to checkout the view! I had an appointment in Embarcadero 4, or the high rise nearest the bay, and OMG what a view! So I'm in this office, and they said "Hey, go checkout the view!" I step to the window, and SF Bay looks like a fish bowl! You feel like you can reach out and touch Alcatraz. Just a warning, the building I was in had express elevators that skip about 20 floors. It literally rushes to the lobby level in a free fall. You will feel all the liquid in your body rush to your feet. It's a cool sensation! Embarcadero Center is a cool place! read more

Very unique place. Lots of open space, a neat water area, restaurants and lots going on cause it's the city of course. Fun place for a shoot! Very quiet right now not too many people and even though the parking is expensive if you eat there the price can be lowered. I think I only paid $5 for parking after eating at a Thai restaurant. Oh and if you like taking photos there's lots of place here to do it :) read more

One of my newly found places in Embarcadero when I went on a weekday when the area was less crowded. As soon as I stepped out of bart station, I saw a big fountain art installation which I found out is known as "Vaillancourt Fountain". After exploring this massive art installation, I noticed a nearby mini mall so I went ahead to find out what's in here. There are several shopping and dining options but what attracted me more is the concrete sculpture known as the "Tulip". There's a ramp attached to it that enables you to go from one floor to another as if navigating through a spiral staircase. I even went back nighttime to see how it looked like with the lights on and it was wonderful. At the top floor of the concrete structure is a hidden garden with lots of foliage. There are benches to sit on where you can sit down and relax or even enjoy your meal. There are also other art installations all throughout the building which you can see on the pictures I have taken. Come and visit whenever you're in the embarcadero area. read more

I like the Embarcadero Center because it's not as busy as Westfield, and it feels a little nicer and cleaner, too. The openness of it feels nice, and there are benches and seating scattered throughout. They have a decent little theater as well. However, a major annoyance is that no store validates. This is bullcrap. I only found one - Gochees Pizza - that validates. If you park in the Embarcadero Center garage, make sure to enjoy some pizza at Gochees, instead of paying major $$ to park. read more

I honestly don't even know how I end up here I was walking out of Chinatown and BOOOOM here I was. This is like a business district with so many buildings and companies here. Be careful of the elevators here. I got stuck for almost 2 hours the other day. It would have been shorter if the elevator technican ever came but after missing their ETA I had to call 911 myself. Or maybe if I was a tenant they would have taken more action since I was asked multiple times if I was a tenant living there or not. Overall, the security guard and members of the staff were very concerned for me and I have had two follow up calls already. read more

Now back in the day I used to have my own skate shop in Downey it was called the one and only zero. I used to play skate videos all day long ! I've seen so many amazing tricks in this location. I was willing to go on this trip to San Francisco in one day as long as we were able to stop here so I could take some pictures. Have I ever told you guys I'm obsessed with skateboarding. When I was younger my dream was to grow up and marry a pro skater. Not a doctor or a lawyer a skateboarder LOL ! I still feel the same way but now I want him to also be a farmer and believe in God ! I pray he's out there somewhere... Ha . Honestly why I'm still single ! Back to the location they have deconstructed a lot of things that are not there anymore because of skateboarding. There were still some kids getting their skate on. Which gave me a funny little tingle inside. I honestly love the sound of a skateboard hitting concrete that pop of the wood ! I love all of it !!!!!#SkateOrDie#SK8Industry#Embarcadero #We'reLegendsSk8 read more

The Embarcadero Center is another urban redevelopment project which had the opposite effect of what was intended: it is a barren, stark, windswept set of edifices that oppress the spirit with the brutalist aesthetic. The architect was John Portman. He was highly successful as a designer-developer (Peachtree in Atlanta, the Bonaventure in DTLA, the Renaissance Center in Detroit). I am not enthusiastic about Portman, primarily because of the bunker like appearance and mentality, and the interior illegibility, of those mirrored cylinders. I will say, however, if you want to see an excellent example of his signature flourish, the interior atrium, the hotel that is associated with the Embarcadero has a spectacular version (he popularized this feature but did not invent it). He also has a lovely tulip sculpture, which appears to be a precursor to what I'd say was his most pleasing building, the Shanghai Bund hotel with a similar floral top, more delicate and mannered than what you might imagine from him. The problem with the buildings, which are inhabited by office workers who clear out when the day is done, is the scale reduces people to insignificance and the material is not inviting. Nothing about the exterior spaces, which also are poorly lit, is conducive to hanging out. I always wanted to be an architect. Perhaps I will do that in another life. I wondered why the many theories I read were abstract, based on concepts of controlling the users of the facility according to particular doctrines to be imposed; they were not premised on psychology and sociology. People want to feel as if they a modicum of power over their surroundings, not that they must be compliant with a set of unknown rules. I would avoid the Embarcadero Center. The only exception is the Vallaincourt Fountain. It is an homage to Quebec separatism, incidentally. U2 famously played there. There is the semblance of street life around it, in all its raucous glory. The art itself has fallen into disrepair as is the fate of public art. At least the Embarcadero Freeway came down with the '89 earthquake. That restored water views. I suppose I should not discourage people from perambulation near here. I have passed through headed to/coming from the Ferry Building, and you could say being able to emerge from the literal shadow of the Embarcadero complex into the light of esplanade is possible only because the towers create the possibility of a transition to someplace better. read more

Embarcadero Center consists of four office buildings with shops, restaurants and services in the street and second levels. There's also a multi-plex cinema located in the Center as well. At Justin Herman Plaza which sits between Embarcadero Four and the Ferry Building, many events are held here. It just held the annual lighting of the buildings and opening of the holiday outdoor skating rink. There were events held for kids at the first levels of all four buildings and performances by Disney on Ice. The event culminated with the lighting of the four buildings and a fireworks display. A fun family event to welcome the holidays. read more

Whether it's to park for business or just to shop, The Embarcadero Center has been my go-to for years. It is located in a safe area of town, too. Walkways have always been kept clean from what I have experienced, as well. Even the sidewalks surrounding the area have a glittery finish that looks beautiful in the evening. When I lived outside the city and needed to visit, I would often select this location to leave my vehicle safely parked for the day. That region of the city and beyond is quite walkable, such that you won't need to continue moving your car and finding new places to park. So, whether you live in San Francisco or you are just visiting, The Embarcadero provides safe clean parking, walkability to other locations, and a variety of lovely retail shops on the premises. read more

The art work , decor and designs are fascinating. Walking through all 4 centers you can see great designs. Good detail and interesting shapes. The stair case and walk ways. One of these days I gotta take more pictures of this place, although I suck at photography. If you've had a chance to go into the offices and get to the higher floors the views are great. The ice rink is a nice touch. Lots of places to eat outdoors. And they keep this place pretty clean. Short walk to the Ferry Building and water. Can get windy sometimes. The shopping is ok. The restaurants here could be better, nothing that great to write about except maybe Pizza Orgasmic. The parking prices is not bad for the area. read more

The Embarcadero has served as my hub many times when I've had to be in the city for meetings. During breaks, it served as a great stop for food and lunch time shopping, without having to schlep up to the Westfield. It's a ghost town on the weekends but quite lively during week. I find the layout interesting and kind of fun to walk around, working your way through the various levels. Be careful on rainy days though-the tiles get crazy slippery. I appreciate the more relaxed nature of their Banana Republic store, as well as LOFT and Ann Taylor for my business casual shopping needs. Often, I find these locations are less picked out over and have pretty well stocked clearance sections. One can leisurely browse, especially on the weekends, when you might be one of the few people in the store. Other highlights include an Osha Thai location, Buckhorn Grill, some "artisan" type frozen yogurt place and a few other smaller places good for a weekday lunch. It's not a "destination" by any means but a good place to start or end to your day when taking BART to the Embarcadero station. read more

You know what I love? I love that the building where I work pipes great music into the common area. This morning, at 5am-ish, I was treated to Echo + the Bunnymen. Yesterday it was the Clash. The day before a little Berlin to get me going. Ok, yeah, its dated, but awesome nonetheless. Everytime I enter or exit my building I have a tiny little dance party, compliments of EC1. read more

I complain about the crowds every time I come, and yet like a moth to a flame where do I end up visiting 9 times out of 10 visits to SF?!? Here!!! Lol. I swear, there's so much more to SF and yet my plans always take me here. Maybe it's because Amtrak's bus stops at the Hyatt conveniently down the street, maybe it's because it's so iconic to see the Ferry Bldg. in the background, or maybe it's because I endlessly can't get enough of trying to figure out this one section of town, but whatever the reason...this is where it's all happening. During Christmas, the ice rink is such a delight to see. However, on any given day just walking around the shops, street vendors, and interesting huge sculpture is enough for an afternoon of family fun or just a good way to escape the mundane. read more

11/30/07 Edit: I'm putting this to 5 stars because apparently bldg mgmt has a shopper card you can get to get store discounts (10% Osha, 10% Buckhorn, BOGO at the Pho Noodle shop etc). Go to EC 4 (2nd floor behind Oasis Convenience store) to see the receptionist at Boston Properties. Ask for an Easy Shopper card and she will hand it over to you. This is good til 1/31/08! (see: http://embarcaderocenter.com/ec/shopping/shoppingcard.html) How cool is that? A real good option for gift shopping when I don't feel like hiking all the way to Union Sq. This is also the only mall where I can find comfy shoes (sorry I'm not into killer stilettos. My feet are unforgiving). Only bad thing is that you have to open your umbrella if and out while travelling between the malls. Too bad they can't enclose the whole thing in a bubble! Bathrooms were clean & well stocked whenever I had the need. I didn't have a problem getting the guard to give me the code either! read more

Are you sure this is San Francisco? I think I entered another time zone, or dimension, or something when i landed here. It is very suburban feeling. Lots of fabulous plants, comfortable outside areas. And there are NO people here. Shhh, don't tell anyone. If I lived here, I would definitely know where to find a dentist. There is a whole wing devoted to dentistry. Great place to meander and to wait. Minus one star for locked bathrooms. (The one I visited did mysteriously open, however) Minus one star for no big name anchor store. Why couldn't Macys come out here? Oh, then it might be crowded. read more

The shopping is nonexistent. The premises are dirty. And one security guard was extremely rude. Stay away from this unwelcoming place.

Nice downtown business Park, so to speak. There are a few shops, but a lot of abandoned spaces. Probably a nice building complex to work in. Parking underneath, but it's not cheap. This complex was built in the 70s, but it's held up as a pretty nice place to hang out. My favorite thing to do here is to go to the Embarcadero Cinemas, Landmark Movie Theater. Don't drive, take BART. The third floor Promenade is a nice walk, but only if you're good with a lot of steps. After hours this place is very quiet, almost abandoned looking. read more

A four-block office center and shopping center, built over fifteen years. If it reminds you of the Rockefeller Center in New York, that's not a mistake -- the Embarcadero Center was developed by David Rockefeller. Originally the Hyatt Regency was called Embarcadero Five. You can walk on the third floor, with bridges over the streets, without touching ground level, all the way from Market Street to Sydney Walton Square, four blocks north. This is accomplished over three developments; the Embarcadero Center itself extends west to Battery Street. Even though the shopping center has had some lean years, the offices above assure that it will always survive. There are three levels of shopping, dining, and movie theaters, with escalators, fountains, and skylights that allow people to view the office buildings looming overhead. Adding to the mimicry of Rockefeller Center, an outdoor temporary ice skating rink is set up in Justin Herman Plaza each Christmas season. read more

This outdoor mall has few crowds, a couple of good restaurants, and the standard shops and businesses that seem to occupy every shopping center in America...Gap, Ann Taylor, Chevy's, Tony Roma's... It's strange, but every time I've gone here, it has been almost completely empty. Abandoned. No one to talk Gap fashion with. On occasion, I'd see a couple of people wandering aimlessly up and down the stairs, but then they'd mysteriously disappear. Verrrry interesting... It's like shopping on the set of THX-1138. Or Logan's Run...take your pick. Maybe Soylent Green? It's made out of people, you know. read more

Came here on a Saturday night around 6:00 pm and all the stores were closed, except for a few restaurants and food places such as Subway. I didn't understand why the center was closed this early on a SATURDAY NIGHT? Especially since the holidays are coming up, you'd expect them to be open even later, but I guess that's why everyone was down at Union Square doing last minute Christmas shopping. Embarcadero Parking is 3 hours free with selected restaurant and/or Cinema validation, which is lame. So we parked in this side structure right next to the Center for $6.50 flat rate after 5:30 pm until closing at 2:00 am, which was a pretty good deal. The only cool thing about the Center is the holiday lights that trace the building after sunset, and the ice skating rink. But even then, the rink is pretty small, considering the amount of people who want to skate. This place is depressing :( read more

I still get lost EVERY TIME i'm in here. I always get turned around and end up walking around in circles. I have no idea what is in Center 1,2,3 etc.. and I'm usually pretty good and figuring things like that out very quickly. However, as I get lost through the ups and downs of this outdoor retail maze, I always find everything I need. If you need something, most likely you can find it here. Post office? Movie theater? Retail? Comedy club? Fitness? Restaurants? Sweet treats? Coffee? YES! All yes. So, go get lost in the Center! It'll be fun and you never know what you'll find! read more

Embarcadero Center - Shopping Centers Near Me - San Francisco, California

Basically, an upscale two level shopping mall below four skyscrapers in the Financial District. Busy during the week day. Deserted at night and on weekends. I went there to buy something specific at one of their stores one weekend. Should I take public transit or drive? Hey, their website says $2 validated parking with $10 purchase on weekends. In fact, the exact wording of their website says: "0-4 Hours $2.00 with validation from retail stores, restaurants, medical/dental offices, health clubs and EC Cinema ($10 minimum purchase)." So I drove. I bought hundreds of dollars of merchandise that day, but this particular merchant said they don't validate. The cashier in the garage says that some stores don't validate, so too bad. So I had to pay $9 for parking. Embarcadero Center's website on parking is essentially a "bait and switch" and clearly wrong. http://www.embarcaderocenter.com/ec/about/directions.html#parking I bought. They switched. I guess you better call the merchant and see if they validate before showing up. read more

A mishmash of retail stores, eateries, and offices: that's how I'd describe the Embarcadero Center. Like most retail places located in the Financial District, the Embarcadero Center is deserted on the weekends; it's a good and bad thing. It's good for those who want to avoid the crazy crowds of Westfield/Powell Station further down Market Street--the Embarcadero is a quiet haven away from the hustle bustle over there. The deserted feeling is bad, though, for the businesses in the EC and for those looking for more going on (and I suppose this is when most people decide to hop over to Westfield/Powell Station to find more action). I, however, rather liked the feeling of isolation at the EC; it's a good change of pace even from the Ferry Building on Saturday, despite the fact that the two centers of attraction are relatively close to one another. I could shop at ease without worrying about battling huge crowds at the EC; there was room to sit and chat for some time in the serene environment of the looming large center. I'm sure during the week the Embarcadero Center is busier with office workers and more tourists visiting; however, on the weekends, I prefer the quiet of this place. According to the EC website, looks like this would be the prime place to find a dentist. In terms of price range: most of the stores found here are a little out of my range, but then again, it's the Financial District. Hours could also be better, but again, this is the Financial District, which promptly shuts down after workers clock out and go back home. I don't mind it all, though, since the EC is a nice, peaceful place to relax on the weekends amidst the sprawling metropolis. read more

I agree with Ivy W.--this place shuts down *ridiculously* early, especially on Saturday nights for downtown SF. ?? The ice skating rink in winter is cool. The views from that side are pretty nice. The center is clean and nice to walk through when stuff is actually open--much less crowded with tourists than other venues. read more

This is a completely sentimental review. From the angels during Christmas, to the semi-outdoor mall quality, to the smattering of chain restaurants on the roof, I've always loved the Embarcadero Center. I remember the first times exploring down town in high school with friends. I'd just gotten my drivers' license and had a few bucks to spend. It was nice doing something "different", out by the waterfront. A fun place to hang out, grab a bite, or even shop a little. There are still a few reasons to swing by. Validated parking on the weekends for the farmers' market at the Ferry Building. The indie movie theater. Ice skating for the holidays. I'm sure it's gotta be a fun place to work, and at least a tertiary destination for people who simply enjoy people watching. read more

When I was a wee little Rhubarb, Momma Rhubarb worked in SF. We would make yearly pilgrimages to shop here. There was always some sort of pit stop at her office. I would amuse myself with office supplies and copying things on the copier that didn't need to be copied. Then, when she was done working, we would head to the Embarcadero to do some serious holiday shopping. There's always a good variety of stores here, and I like the quasi indoor, quasi outdoor vibe. If you listen closely, you can hear the squeals of delight as shoppers find exactly what they were looking for. read more

I've been by Embarcadero Center dozens of times and never actually realized it was a shopping center, mainly because I'm usually there on the weekends when most of their shops are closed or close early. It's also architecturally strange and pretty much looks like a big concrete office building. Nevertheless, you're able to explore 5 blocks of fully covered shops. If you're staying at the Hyatt or Le Meridien Hotels or just in the area, there are a few shops to check out including: Victoria Secret, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Origins, L'Occitane, Papyrus, Godiva Chocolatier, Williams-Sonoma, etc. There's also tons of restaurants, an ice skating rink, ATMs, and a movie theater in here too! Tips: *Most stores close by 6pm on the weekends (if open at all) *Parking at the garage is validated by retailers and restaurants read more

This is also one of my most romantic places in the City. There are a ton of little nooks and crannies that you can access here. Take your lover, find a corner, and make out madly. It is especially beautiful when you start across the street from Embarcadero One and walk up this lovely ramp, cross over the bridge to Embarcadero One, and then walk to the lovely view of the Bay. It is even more beautiful at night. If you take a gander, you can find this lovely little park on the north side of the Embarcadero. Go through the Theatre and exit out the opposite side, and explore. It is little used, has some interesting sculptures, and is filled with private public places. You get the idea. read more

Walked around for just a bit on a Sunday just to check it out - most stores were closed or not yet open - but it's a fun outdoor multi-segmented mall - across several streets/sections. Love the beauty of Embarcadero, but I just can't shop here and commute by car! Parking is a bbbbbbbeach, yup nothing close to leisure - it's high stress whether going in circles for hours or paying 3 bucks for 15mins in the garage. This may be the financial district but by no means do we have to pay to be around here. if NOT driving: the center is filled with stores and great restaurants of all sorts - good food, good shops and great view of the bay. read more

I like ice skating at Embarcadero Center in the wintertime. It's a lovely spot to cozy up to a date with a warm cup of cocoa. The view of the Bay Bridge at night is lovely and all of the skyscrapers decorated in holiday lights that surround the rink make for a beautiful ambiance. Embarcadero Center Cinema is also nearby and you can catch a film after a skate. The shopping here is so-so. I liken it to an 'old fashioned' multi-level strip mall with the usual stores such as Victoria's Secret. There are a few restaurants here as well but nothing particularly unique unless you're fond of Tony Roma's ribs in which case there's some good eats at Embarcadero Center. read more
