For our Christmas meal we picked up a large variety of goodies here, and the folks special requests. MIL wanted a steak. I explained to the wonderful lady taking our order, and they prepared a delicious, tender t bone. Everyone highly enjoyed their meals, as always. Wish this place was down in the flatlands where we live, we'd be regulars. We'll continue to be customers here and want to thank the owners/ staff for their kindness and great service.

I ordered the beef flautas, and my fiancé ordered the enchiladas. My flautas were absolutely drenched in oil. I could barely taste the meat because all I tasted was fryer oil. When I did bite into them, the beef was mostly fatty pieces, which made the dish really unpleasant and hard to finish. My fiancé's enchiladas were also not good, and shortly after we got home, he became nauseous, had stomach cramps, and had to lie down for a couple of hours. He grew up in the Valley eating authentic Mexican food and can handle plenty of flavor, so this was not a matter of the food being "too much" for him. The sides were not much better. The beans were okay, but the rice was oily and lacked flavor. Overall, the food had very little seasoning and felt heavy, greasy, and low quality. This restaurant was recommended to me, so I was honestly expecting much better. On top of the food, there were flies buzzing around while we were trying to eat, which only made the experience less enjoyable. Unfortunately, this was some of the most disappointing Mexican food I've had in Arizona. The staff was kind and attentive, but the food itself was not something I would come back for.

My girl is amazing and says she loves me just how I am…read more Yet, I know I'm going queso deep here with their amazing spinach queso. I'm getting after those chips and salsa as the tantalizing, fresh salsa basically transports you to gardens of your grandmother with just a tiny amount of spice. What do I do, knowing this? Have the best Skinny Margarita I've ever had. I've tried, I've searched. Literally multiple states and too many crappy pseudo joints. Nothing beats the Skinny from El Rodeo. Not only does it save my ego, it lets me really focus on those delicious enchiladas. So few places get beef exactly right as simple as it is, but they have it nailed. I'd fly here again just to get after that Skinny with those all fresh ingredients, in a massive frosted glass. Guilt free Mexican? I know, I know. I count this as being it. *boom*

The decor is pretty fun, a little old school but very bright and all the chairs have rodeo themed art. We had a large party and were seated right away. The chips and salsa were fine, nothing to rave or complain about. Salsa was a bit bland but not terrible. Most of us got combo plates and one ordered a steak quesadilla. I picked a pork tamale and a shredded beef taco. I expected like a shredded green Chile pork tamale but it was huge cubes of tough pork. In a tamale! I found the pork inedible and the masa very flavorless. The shredded beef taco came with orange cheese on top and was in a soggy tortilla that immediately fell apart. The shredded beef didn't have much flavor but did have quite a few globs of fat. The quesadilla was huge but the steak inside was gristly. One friend had ordered soda water to drink and they charged her $5 for it! Wild. Its generally free but if you feel the need to charge for it, fine, but $5?? The bathroom was clean.

When I was eating there…read moretoday I took a good look at their logo and felt like it looked kinda familiar in a nostalgic way.... So I did some digging. Turns out, this is the same chain that got its start in my California hometown! I grew up with Alibertos! Totally makes sense why I choose this place above all others in town. Tastes just like home. If you're from SoCal and need your street taco fix, Alibertos has your back. 10/10 no notes, I LOVE this place. Authentic thick and flavorful salsas, perfectly cooked carnitas, proper corn tortillas doubled up to support the toppings Just the best. This isn't your typical Sonoran desert or Tex-Mex Mexican food. This is definitely a taste of that Baja-style Mexican food found close to the TJ border - this chain literally got its start in San Diego California - and I'm not surprised they're still my favorite all these years and miles later. The men and women that staff this location are wonderful as well. I never have any issues as they are always courteous and kind.

No gloves and no washing hands between. The employee also likes to hand you your soda cup buy inserting her hand in the inside of the cup, right after mopping. There are other food code. Violations clearly visible but am leaving it up to the state inspector to do his job. The employee seemed fine touching cups on the inside, food and food trays and cleaning supplies simultaneously with no care. I am sure her food handlers card is up to date. I did try to inform her politely, but she waved her hand at me like she was batting away a fly. Very professional. A walking health code violation works the front counter. Beware.
