Elmvale bakery is a quaint bakery located in the heart of Elmvale. When we arrived around 1pm, there was a line to the back of the store, however it moved quickly. There are a variety of menu options including both sweet and savory pastries, breads and pies. We ordered a peach and mango strudel and a dessert square with assorted berries. Cute local bakery in Elmvale. I tried their chocolate boston donut. They fill it with fresh, not too sweet, whipped cream in front of you. It's was a nice treat. No seating inside and the service was fine, nothing special. read more

She's a Cake-Nazi!!! We heard a lot about this place.. and decided to give it a try for our dad's 90th birthday cake! So we "mask-up" and in we go! We walked inside and asked about cakes and the woman behind the counter raised her voice. at us cutting us off like maybe this was the 100th time today she was asked about "cakes" ...... "HE DOESN'T MAKE BUTTER-CREME!!!"... (ok so what the heck is butter-creme? and who is "he" ....I want a cake) We subsequently determined that "butter-creme" is some "baker-code" for "icing", as "he" is the baker. (ok now we feel stupid...) Now maybe it was late in the day, maybe she was having a bad day in her life... but WOW was the attitude on this vendor was HORRIFIC. The glaring at us... the "face" the screamed.. "you are bothering me"..... we've never felt so un-welcome. She might as well have pointed us to the door with her hand... because every other fiber of her being, was doing that. Stuck for a cake now we were forced to buy some "square chocolate thing" or which the vendor provided no insight and was clearly not interested in discussing what it was. Well, the chocolate thing was incredible - Very good, and the birthday was a success in spite of the buying experience. So this place is kinda like the Seinfeld "Soup-Nazi" episode... the food is incredible, but you need to put up the staff who have the bedside manner of "Atilla the Hun". (no cake for you!)Would we go back?.. probably not.... there are a lot of good baker's around, and this one if not worth the dive to Elmvale and life is way to short to deal with that attitude. The owner of this bakery IS NOT adhering to mandates from Simcoe-Muskoka Public Health Unit (SMPHU). I had a VERY UNPLEASANT experience there last week. When my advocate attempted to discuss the issue with Chris (the owner) he was unsuccessful in trying to communicate that I was DISCRIMINATED against. SMPHU's mandate is very clear and it is clear that this owner does not care and cherry picks ONLY the parts of the mandates that he wants. * Every person indoors shall wear a mask or face covering unless exemptions apply as per O. Reg 82/20. Health and accommodations You do not need to wear a face covering if you: have a medical condition that inhibits your ability to wear a face covering , I was severely DISCRIMINATED against and will never go in there again. Used to come here many moons ago as a kid. My parents would take us when we're staying at Bluewater beach. We would always get the Chelsea Buns which were incredible. I was in the area recently and was delighted to find out this place is still open. The Chelsea Buns are still incredible and they have a ton of other bread and baked goods which are equally delicious. A must visit if you are in the area! read more

A great little bake shop that has become a staple in trips to....and sometimes from...the cottage!

The Elmvale Bakery makes some of the most sinfully delicious treats! Anytime I'm up north at the cottage I try my darnedest to make a stop here to indulge in some of their homemade goodies. I love to buy their egg bread to use to make french toast. One of their specialities are their glazed raspberry filled donuts. They're very rich and dense, but totally worth the calories! If you buy a box and find that they're not quite as good the next day (assuming they'll last that long, they usually don't) a good trick is to just throw them in the microwave for 10 seconds. I have also purchased various cakes, cookies, tarts, and squares from the bakery. They always have an array of delicious baked good in the display case making it hard to choose! If you're looking for a nice dessert, try the custard cakes - they make them in an array of flavours and they're all awesome. The staff is also extremely kind and helpful! If you're in Elmvale, you would be doing yourself a great disservice not to check it out! read more

Nice little bakery in the town of Elmvale. I picked up a strudel and some other baked goods. Must say they were moist and delicious. Very friendly and helpful in packaging for my motorcycle ride home. Definitely will keep this in my places to come back to. read more
