The restaurant, which used to be Gus' Pizza, with the pizza prep area in the front window, was reconfigured and remodeled several years ago. We sat at the bar and boards on the wall noted drink specials, food specials, and mocktails. They also had about 10 draft beers available. We ordered some garlic cheese bread, and I had a red wine while we waited for our pepperoni sausage pizza. If seated at the bar, you can order there, otherwise there is a station where you can order and then head to a table to wait for your food or wait to grab carryout. They had two double deck ovens, and were busy, but our service was attentive. The dining area was full early on a Saturday night with families and sports teams. Our pizza, with house made crust, and hand seasoned sauce had delicious flavors with a sausage nugget carefully placed on each pepperoni slice. Despite the name, Roadhouse Pizza also features hoagies, sandwiches, burgers, and more. If I lived closer I would be a regular patron at Roadhouse for sure.

We sat at the bar and had great service. Several tables are available, but all orders were placed at the bar. Overall the atmosphere was very clean and well decorated. You could call it a clean towny bar. Drinks were good, Bloody Mary was pretty standard (would have been better if we made it before the Bloody Mary bar closed). Several beers on tap, and a good variety of liquors. We shared the loaded tater tots, the fried onions stole the show. The portion was large, so we need a carry out container. Then split the wings, price was very reasonable. Wings were crispy and delicious, then came with a "bucket of sauces" - see picture. It was fun to mix and match. Several others around us got burgers, steak sandwiches, etc. Excited to go back to try more menu items, especially breakfast!

Our server Corrina was an absolute delight! When asked what she would recommend, she responded with the Lasagna with no hesitation. We found large portions were the theme when the Lasagna's arrived. We split one order and had the second boxed to go. The Lasagna was simply amazing! We later found out they make their meals from scratch, no food service reheats found here. Even though The Wheelhouse is an hour from home, we're looking forward to returning and sampling additional items from the menu. As a sidebar we found out the owner was originally from Illinois, that explains the Bears game on tv and he brought with him family recipes. A great place to watch a Bears game and enjoy great food.

Ok, I'm thinking I have onions at home that I can slice but kind of defeats the purpose of picking up lunch. Tried to make conversation with him but he wasn't interested. so anyway, had to ask for extra tuna because he put so little on I wouldn't have tasted it. Of course, it costed extra. When we got home & started to eat our sandwiches, my tuna was extra dry, and just didn't taste very good. Hubby said his wasn't great either. It's a shame that you have to pay extra to get a fair amount of meat & cheese...........obviously sandwiches that they show in their ads must be extremely expensive with all the good stuff.
