However, each night I had a great night sleep, and the room was perfect. Plus, for those that can sense things, I will have you know it was very peaceful atmosphere at the Magpie. Easy reservations on-line. Allot of communications via text if you needed anything for your stay. If I had anything negative to say which really isn't a negative just a preference. I would have loved to see the original wood floors instead of carpet but that is just me. I am not a big fan of carpet. I would HIGHLY recommend the Magpie! Go and RELAX!!!!

The breakfast was amazing, tasty, with 2 kind of eggs, bacon, parfait, Strawberries, kiwi, grapes, nuts, banana and cinnamon pastries, coffee and orange juice, we requested it into the room, it was very romantic (I came with my husband) 1 thing I will forever be super grateful is that in my mexican mind, a "detached bathroom" in a house would mean "detached from other rooms (like.. private to the room) upon arrival, our host wanted to made sure i meant to book a room with no bathroom inside... i messed up!! I would have never considered a romantic gateaway with my husband in a bedro with a bathroom outside!!! But it was my mistake, (which at that point I hadn't even realized) and she was so kind and went above and beyond to offer me a switch to another available room when I realized my terrible mistake, I cannot express how grateful I am!!!I completely recommend this great place!!!

We loved our room and appreciated the special welcome with the bottle of wine and delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies. Kelly, had a supply of snacks and sodas in the mini-fridge in the upstairs hallway. Our bed was super comfortable and I was able to sleep restfully after a night out in the Stockyards. Breakfast was amazing - french toast with a crumb topping, crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade muffins, fresh fruit, pressed coffee that I enjoyed most black. We loved Rufus, the house dog's gentle company. It was National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast and we had the best strawberry ice cream complete with sprinkles. This was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast and our first visit to Texas. We would love to return with our kids as we loved Fort Worth.

I ordered the ribeye medium. It was good and cooked right. May not be the 1" steak you often see but very good. What stole the show was the Chips and Queso. The chips were cooked in house fresh and the queso was thick and very good. White cheese. Kat our waitress was awesome. We were served a fantastic homemade breakfast of eggs, biscuits and gravy with fruit. Not the best if you are on a diet, but you can NOT compare any free breakfast at a hotel to this it was amazing. I will definitely stay there again in the future. Thanks again Anna for your hospitality! Also, there is a new bistro in Jacksboro right on the square that brews Starbucks coffee! Really nice in the morning and only about five miles from the The Purple Thistle.

I have been here many times. The details that have gone into making this home a must see historic…read moredestination keep drawing me back. There are new antiques every time I visit, some of which were donated by descendants of the original home owners. The house is always decked out, but it is especially fun to see during the holidays. You can tell a lot of thought, time and money went into restoring this magnificent 7,000 square foot home to its former grandeur. I will definitely go back to visit, even if only to get away from the city lights and mentally recharge in the quiet country atmosphere.
