I'm no skater so I guess I can't really speak to how the facility matches up in that regard but as…read morea bystander who lives in the neighborhood I have to say--I really love what the Skatepark as brought to the community. Not only is it awesome to see all those folks out on sunny summer afternoons (and many warmer winter days too!) doing tricks, learning the ropes on their skateboards, and just socializing and creating community, but they also hold really cool events every so often, including their big fest in September featuring food, live music, etc. Sadly last year's party was the same day as my wedding so I couldn't partake but I hope to check it out this year! Their website has great guidelines/"skatepark etiquette" for guests and parents alike. They really are committed to keeping the park a safe, clean space for all to enjoy. I love walking our pup through and watching all the skaters do their thing on a warm summer day. The best!

Best skatepark in Michigan, hands-down. Props to Farmington Hills, Mason, Lansing, Bay City, etc…read more parks though, and the gnarly DIY park in Ypsi. What's here: Clover bowl and 10' right kidney bowl with pool coping and stairs, flow bowls and spine, crooked ditch, big and small hubbas, 3 sets of stairs and rails, straight rail, hips, quarter pipes, banked EMB stage, skateable boulders, banks, gaps, lots of recycling and trash bins, chill locals and a good vibe. What's not: Walls or steep banks to wallride or wallie, over-vert or big vert extensions, more boxes, long rails, etc. but there's Farmington Hills (or even Westland) nearby for that. No bikes, according to park rules. What's around: Giant trees and tons of shade on the hill overlooking the park (great family / picnic spot), tons of food options and an emergency clinic across the street, lots of parking, paved paths all around. Buy a 24-case of water bottles at Aldi for $2 and make some friends. Skateshops in town include Launch Board Shop, Redbelly, and Flophouse (down the street underneath Taco King). What's needed: a broom to sweep the bowls, patience with the little scooter kids that get in the way, donations at a2skatepark.org to the endowment for maintenance (buy a brick today!). Where: On AATA bus lines 9, 12, 609. Right off I-94 exit 172 to Jackson Road, across from the giant Kmart parking lot, by the baseball diamonds.
