I called Atlas Movers originally and they said that their Nashville partners where Ellis Moving. They set up a date and time to come to our home and give us an accurate estimate for the move. They were supposed to be here at 11am. I gave them an hour and a half before calling them to find out why they were not here. When I called they said to wait and put me on hold for 5 minutes before I hung up. No call back or anything. I guess all movers have gone way down hill on service so I just reserved a U-Haul. Their response to any phone calls went unanswered. My shipment arrived their "storage" facility and was held for over three months... 3 MONTHS!!! Numerous phone calls to their "scheduler" with all my details--no call back, no reply of course it would help if someone actually picked up the damn phone to ask for a manager or supervisor... I LOVE to talk to someone who MATTERED. In the mean time, my kitchen project remains unfinished and has been waiting on three pieces from the cabinet maker. I had a really negative experience with Ellis that ultimately ended with renting a Uhaul truck to collect the couch myself. The folks answering the phones were generally nice and I'm well aware that this wasn't there fault. Seems like Ellis is incredibly understaffed and unequipped to work with the volume of goods they have in their possession. I ordered a couch from Article that sat @ Ellis for over a month. When we arrived to pick up our couch it was chaos, phones ringing off the hook and after reading comments, it's clear I wasn't the only one looking to collect their goods. My issue is mostly with the lack of communication. I left upwards of 10 voicemails before getting someone on the phone for the first time to inquire when my delivery would arrive. I emailed with the owner? Mitch who was very combative and unprofessional but ultimately is likely what helped me get the ball rolling, even if that meant me picking up the couch myself. Worst customer service ever. These people are the Final Mile delivery service for LTL company Estes. The people answering the phones will lie to your face. They called to schedule the delivery to my home a week from now. I asked them if I could drive there and pick up the shipment myself. At first, I was told I could pick up my shipment, then I was told that my shipment was still at Estes. I called Estes and confirmed that the shipment had been delivered to them earlier today. They changed their story and said that Estes had delivered my shipment to them, but that it had not been scanned in and would not be available for dock pick up until Monday. I told them to go ahead and schedule the delivery to my home next Thursday. We shall see if they actually deliver the shipment six days from now on Thursday. read more

Ellis was contracted to deliver cabinets to our home. The delivery occurred on Thursday. On Monday the next week, Ellis called and told us they had left a cabinet out of our order in their warehouse. I explained to them that our cabinet installer was on site the next day and needed the cabinet to be delivered that day or it would cost me an extra day of labor to the installer. Ellis said they would not deliver the cabinet until Thursday or Friday that week due to routing. After 10 phone conversations and enduring the hostile attitude of the office manager (a relative of the owner) a very professional and nice person from Ellis delivered the cabinet the day the installer was on site. The basic problem is that Ellis made a mistake and would not take accountability for their mistake. They tried to deflect doing what was right to accommodate their schedule and not deliver quality customer service. The office staff were rude and the receptionist basically lied to everyone related to the multiple conversations that I had with her tryIng to resolve the issue. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DISHONEST EMPLOYEES IN THE OFFICE. THE WAREHOUSE AND DELIVERY WORKERS ARE PROFESSIONAL. IKEA DELIVERY EXPERIENCE REVIEW: First off, don't get anything delivered from IKEA. Just drive to Memphis. I ordered on 1/26 for a 2/3 delivery date. Took off work and waited at home. Got an email at 9:15 on 2/3 that my order had been received by the delivery company. Delivery company in question was not specified. Got an email on Sunday that my delivery date had been moved to 2/8. No problem, I made arrangements to receive it. Monday rolls around and I get a call from Ellis to schedule it for a 2/14 delivery. Now begins my Ellis review! The lady on the phone was extremely polite and explained that they never see the delivery dates requested from IKEA, and that 2/14 is the soonest they can deliver, but that I can pick up the order at will call anytime M-F etc etc. I take this option and drove up the next morning at 9:30, was greeted by a young guy named Danny who was extremely polite, showed me where the order was staged in the warehouse, drove it over to my van with the forklift, and proceeded to carefully help me load it. It was a LOT of stuff, too. He made sure I saw none of the packages were damaged, double checked the count on number of boxes I should have, and was very careful about handling it. I signed off on it and headed on my way. When I first got the call from Ellis, I was extremely scared of my furniture being damaged after quickly reading all these reviews. I actually asked Danny as I was leaving about all the negative reviews. He said that IKEA does not communicate with them much at all, and if items arrive FROM IKEA damaged, they won't do anything about it. They are told to deliver what they receive, and let the customer sort it out. They are never told what deliver date is requested from the IKEA customer. Obviously they can't deliver the same day they receive it. Essentially, they are a moving company who handles IKEA contracts, but communication is poor between them. IKEA seemingly pushes off all their issues to Ellis, who can't do much about it. They are just handlers. Everyone I came in contact with at Ellis was nothing but polite and professional. Four-stars only because I had to pick it up myself and didn't actually have it delivered. tl;dr: Don't expect to get your IKEA stuff delivered on time. If you have a way to haul it yourself, you can pick it up in Old Hickory no problem, and save your time and gas from driving to Memphis for $99. read more

I just moved to Nashville from Washington and I decided to order some items from ikea online and was told they would arrive 2 weeks out on 5/11 - on the date my order was supposed to be delivered I was told that By this moving company that the earliest they could deliver would be 5/17 (this is where all of this started to go downhill.) When my order arrived the driver notified me that my bed frame was damaged and that it looked like someone at their company may have ran into the pallet that contained all my items - obviously frustrated since I'd been waiting 3 weeks for a bed frame and dresser to put my stuff in I asked if I could just take the dresser and return the bed frame. The driver told me that the only way I could take my dresser is if I accepted the whole order and I would have to call ikea for them to get me a new bed. Well once the order gets inside I decide to at least start assembling my dresser and low and behold they sent me the WRONG dresser... I've been calling this company for weeks to come back and get my order for refund (I've got $700 I'm waiting to be refunded on) It's been WEEKS and I was told FINALLY TODAY they'd be coming to get my stuff between 4-8pm... It's 7:45 and no one has called... So I have been home away from work all day only to have them not show up... And now I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REFUNDED. I am determined to raise hell. We have had a horrible experience with Ellis and it hasn't even been resolved yet (at the time I am doing this review). As I write this, it is Tuesday 9/29/15. I ordered some chairs on 9/2/15 from IKEA. The estimated delivery date was 9/14/15. The first contact I had with Ellis home delivery was not until 9/17/15 (I understand it was an estimate). They said they could deliver on 9/23 and that they only deliver during normal business hours, no Saturdays. I work a normal job, so there was no way I could get off that quickly. I already had clients scheduled all day that day. I had to go two weeks out for a time I could mark off part of my day, so I requested Friday Oct. 2nd. To add to the stress of trying to get this coordinated, we were trying to get some other things coordinated and delivered on Saturday Oct. 3rd (It's too much to explain in this review, but I'll just say, it was legitimately very important to get the IKEA before Oct. 3rd). When I made the request to Ellis for Friday Oct. 2nd, it was two weeks prior to the date (the request was made on 9/17). I thought this would give me time to get the other stuff scheduled. I was told by Ellis home delivery on 9/17 that they would call me early the following week (which was last week) to schedule. I never got a call. (In the mean time, I was able to coordinate the other furniture delivery for 10/3.) I called Ellis back on Wednesday 9/23 and they said they hadn't started scheduling yet for the week of the 28th. I called back Friday 9/25 and was told that they hadn't started scheduling for this week and that I would get a call next week (notice the pattern here, they had told me the same thing at the end of the previous week). I explained the desire to have delivery on Oct. 2nd because of all the other things I was trying to coordinate and that I had already taken off work for that day and gave them ample time for the request. I didn't get a call Monday, so I called today Tuesday 9/29. I was told that they "must have misplaced" our paperwork and that they had already made out the schedule for this week and couldn't deliver our furniture at all. The latest I was told is that they should be in the area this coming Tuesday 10/6 (which completely messes up other outside factors). Even this is not a guarantee as it wasn't a confirmation, but now I have to block off part of my day this coming Tuesday day just on the hope that they might be able to come and also hope that they can come at the time I mark off for work. I am already loosing money because I took off part of this Friday. I don't expect to get those hours filled with a day's notice. Now I have to take off part of this Tuesday. With my job, my hourly rate per session is $140. There are six hours I've had to block off for this so far. That's $840 I am missing out on because of this delivery company. On top of that, if we have to have the pest inspectors come out a second time, that will likely be about $100 or more. The chairs I ordered were $1,189. It is costing me almost that much money just to get the chairs to my house (so far). This seems entirely unacceptable and I don't even see a recourse. It makes me not want to shop at IKEA online and it definitely makes me never want to interact with Ellis home delivery. It's been a month since I ordered the chairs and we still don't have a confirmed delivery date. I was pretty nervous after reading all the reviews. But they did what they promised for me. Got here within the promised window, called to give me 20 minutes advance notice, and got here in 20 minutes. I will say that they were not what I would call "professional" movers. More like enthusiastic amateurs. They had to borrow my box cutter. (LOL!) You could tell they weren't quite used to carrying large boxes upstairs, and I was a little worried about stability a couple of times. Order date: 02/24/2015 Order recieved by Ellis: 03/02/2015 Ikea estimated delivery date: 03/04/2015 My wife and I ordered a bedroom set from Ikea, having done business with them on numerous occasions, both online and in-store. While realizing that the estimated delivery date was only just an "estimation," normal business practices dictate a reasonable time there around, and that's exactly what we expected; sometime within a couple of days of 03/04/2015. Upon receiving contact info for Ellis/confirmation that the shipment was recieved by the local carrier (Ellis), my wife called to setup a delivery date (03/03/2015). An Ellis representative told my wife that they would call her back that day or the next. Two days later my wife called Ellis back, concerned since we had recieved no further communication (03/05/2015). The same Ellis representative indicated that they were "behind because of the weather," and would call her back that afternoon. When Ellis failed to call her back, she called on the 6th (Friday). The same representative then indicated that we couldn't expect our shipment until the following week, but would not give a specific date. Our area did have a weather event on the 5th, and most businesses were closed. Road conditions and business operations for the majority of the area were, however, normalized that afternoon. The series of events prompted me to call Ikea to rectify the issue. Ikea told me that they could guarantee a delivery date of 03/09/2015, and that Ellis would contact us on 03/08/2015 to establish a four hour delivery window for that date. Not even 20 minutes subsequent to hanging up the phone with Ikea, and my wife recieved a voicemail from the same Ellis representative - funny how they failed to call that entire week, but pounce as soon as Ikea gets involved - stating that the earliest they can deliver would be the 16th!? I am currently in discussion with Ikea to see if there is any way around the shear incompetence of Ellis. Further research has yielded a slew of complaints and horrible reviews of Ellis Moving and Storage; all having similar stories to our own. Their name evinces a local small moving company that clearly has bitten off more than they can chew trying their hand at logistics. What justifies a two week delay (assuming that we would even get our delivery on the 16th) in this day and age? How is this acceptable? Delays are bad enough, but the rude and unsympathetic customer service exhibited by their "office manager," show that should not be in business. Ikea has been apologetic, and has indicated that they take customer experiences to heart when renegotiating contracts, like the one it has with Ellis... the one Ellis should have never had in the first place. read more

I would give negative stars if it were possible. I ordered a bed from Costco who uses a logistic company that contracted these clowns for the final delivery and set up. They received the bed on the 15th of the month, messed up the deliver address, and then could not correct their own mistake and wanted me to wail until the 7th of the next month for delivery. We talked to Sams Club and they agreed to send us a new spring box. According to them, the item is at Ellis Moving & storage. By far the worst movers we've ever used and being in the military we are professional movers, ha. The staff was super unprofessional when at the house. It was clear they didn't care about our house or our belongings while packing. Stuff was literally just thrown into boxes, glass was not wrapped, and once loaded onto the truck they had no regard for making sure furniture stayed protected. Multiple things broken. This is the WORST moving company in America. Had an Ikea order early summer. They call to schedule the appt and NEVER SHOW UP! No call or explanation. I call next day and they say sorry had to add it to today's deliveries. Never show up. I go on vacation for 10 days and have to call them to reschedule and they show up a week later. Another Ikea order that was delivered to them August 16th '17 and as of today, September 5 2017 I called them and they still do not have an ETA for delivery... just sorting through orders. JC Penney Sofa Delivery Ellis called about three weeks ahead of time and set up an appointment window with me for 1-5 pm. I took off from work and 4 o'clock came and I was getting worried. At 4:05 they said they called to say they were 30 minutes out and if that was okay. Of course it was. I'm getting a new couch for the first time in 20 years! They showed up right when they said they would, they were respectful of my property and my neighbors property. They actually called to see which way to go. My neighbor and I have adjoining properties off the road and we just had them come down my neighbors driveway since they have a lot less trees. They backed into my front yard, offloaded the sofa, brought it in, set it up and took the trash back out. They were polite, pleasant to talk to and nice to my two very annoying medium/large dogs. The one gentlemen even helped put my door back on the hinges. Great folks, great delivery experience. The only reason for the 4 stars is scheduling. If you cannot be there for the delivery on the given day, your delivery evidently goes back into the pool of deliveries and will probably take another two weeks or so, so that's not very convenient for us 8-5 folks out there in the world. Two prior reviewers claim items were professionally delivered on time? I guess those must've been new employees who were fired for competence. The one guy gives them 4 stars for NOT delivering his order and him driving to their location, renting a moving truck, and getting it himself. Yep, that's 4 out of 5 star service from a moving company alright! It's their job, dude. Their only job. It's literally in their name. To begin, understand that you are not Ellis' customer. Some big online retail or wholesaler like Amazon, Ikea, Wal-Mart, CostCo, Target, or the like hired a company called Lodeso out of Michigan. Lodeso then subbed out these "last leg" deliveries on big items to these rocket surgeons. My experience was the same as the others. They scheduled a time. Wasted 4 hours of my weekend by blowing out their own appointment with a no call-no show. Then, after not returning three of my phone calls, I finally speak to one of their flunkies who claims that not only did they call me (which they didn't) but that they also showed up at my house, knocked on the door, and I didn't answer (which they also didn't). Yea, I don't want to accept my $5000 order that I've already paid for when I'm there the entire time. By the next business day, I get an e-mail from the company I bought the furniture from saying that I missed my appointment and that missing another will mean that I'll pay pantload in "redelivery fees". I was hot at this point. It sounds like a scam. They miss their appointment and now I'm going to pay the freight on another delivery? Ellis isn't calling me but they're calling the seller to lie about me. I called a prior carrier given to me through the site where I bought my furniture. I called Lodeso. I called the seller. I called everybody. How does a company like this even exist these days? Is 20/20 not doing exposes on this kind of stuff anymore? After raising some hell, I get a call from the seller with a date and a four hour window for about 10 days later. The delivery guys call 5 minutes before the end of 4 hour window (~8pm on a weeknight). They'll be there in 30 minutes they say. So about an hour later they show up. We're at 9pm now. They look exhausted and I feel incredibly sorry for them though these two guys busted their rear ends off. Now comes the bonus. The delivery only covers "limited coverage delivery". So they aren't bringing it into your house. They aren't hauling boxes away either. And you, dear customer, are supposed to somehow rip open all of your furniture, inspect it for damage, and sign off on their forms so they can leave. I had about 500 square feet of cardboard boxes, styrofoam pellets, ripped plastic, wooden palates strewn everywhere. As one might expect, I found a couple of big gashes in a piece of furniture weighing hundreds of pounds after the fact and had to work through that with the seller. I would name names of the people I spoke to at their office. They have a severe deficiency in what passes for their moral character and that appears to be coming from the top down. I'd say not to use them but odds are if you're reading this that it wasn't you who called them. I had a Stearns and Foster Mattress delivered to my house from Ellis Moving and Shipping out of Nashville, TN. Daniel and Henry arrived right on time. I had trouble assembling the bed frame prior to them arriving, but they put the bed frame in place quickly and efficiently. They were very polite and courteous; they removed their shoes at the door out of respect for my floors as it was raining. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. A great experience. read more

I placed an order from JC Penney, part of which was to be delivered at a different time than the rest of the order. The first order arrived 2 weeks after it was supposed to because they "don't come out to Hendersonville very often" and I work retail so the times that they would schedule me for delivery (which they TOLD me the times, they didn't ask the times) I was not available. All the times that they quoted me were in the middle of a normal work day (between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M.) when anyone with a 9-5 job would not be able to be there. When the first part of my order got delivered, they put everything together and went on their merry way. It wasn't until later that I realized that every piece of furniture that they brought in was scratched or nicked in some way. The scratches were in places that aren't that visible, so I didn't notice until a later time. Now, I am waiting on the second part of the delivery. It was SUPPOSED to be delivered February 12 (at a time they specified, which neither me or my wife were available.) and it is now March 7. They have set up 2 other delivery dates, informing me when it will be delivered (all during the day, when my wife will not be home and I will not be home). After the last one, I gave them my availability for the next 2 weeks and told them that if they schedule me for any other time, I will not be available and neither will my wife because she works 8 - 5 every week day. I had not heard from them after 2 weeks, so i called this morning, got put on hold for 10 minutes, and the person on the phone said "OK we have you scheduled for next tuesday between 10am and 12 pm." Luckily, that is a day that I have off, and I told the lady that the time quoted would work, but that I am a paying customer, and that just because I am in Hendersonville doesn't mean that I don't care when my stuff gets here. I will NEVER use this company again, and will not be ordering from any stores that use this delivery company. Was contacted by this company from an inquiry I did for a moving quote for North American Moving Company. The representative came to my house on Monday and it took 4 days for actually to receive the moving quote estimate. When received the quote saw many charges on it for services that I didn t asked for and things in it that never seen before on an estimate. When called the representative about this had no clue about any of the charges. To me seems that they are a rip off company and trying to make the most money possible the easiest way ! I advice anyone to stay away from this company and do your research well before deciding to hire any moving company. THE WORST! I ordered a mattress from Sam's Club that was to be delivered via MXD group who subcontracted Ellis home delivery. After 3 weeks they called to schedule my delivery for August 9. Unfortunately I missed the delivery because I was flying back to Nashville and had a flight canceled. I called them in the morning to let them know, but apparently they never notified the driver. They called two days later to tell me the next available date for delivery would be Aug. 20. Their business is literally 10 miles from my home. They are totally uncompromising, difficult to get in contact with, and do not care one bit about satisfying their customers. Avoid them at all costs! read more

Terrible!! Like everyone else our items were held hostage. When you order from large retailers you get know choice in who they choose to deliver it. If you see this company on your tracking order beware. We paid thousands in advance for a bedroom set that we haven't seen for 5 weeks now. They will call you and tell you it hasn't arrived even when your tracking statement said it did. Then they call you back and say it was a mistake and they have it. They set up delivery times and don't show and make excuses such as there truck was inoperable. Ridiculous! Fraudulent! read more

If possible, STAY AWAY from this company. They are absolutely horrible! I had a mattress made at a factory which the manufacturing process took 2 weeks and they have had the mattress for 2 weeks in their warehouse with no time frame for delivery. Unfortunately, I have no control on getting my mattress and this is the company the vendor used to provide local delivery. However, if I had a choice, I would never EVER consider this company. I wish the Vendor would see their reviews...it is quite obvious that no one has had a pleasant experience and I wonder how companies like this stays in business. read more

If I could give them 0 starts, I would. We purchased 2 chairs from Article and the tracking information said it arrived to their facility in Old Hickory on 7/14. I just received a call from the manager, Brooke, saying the earliest delivery would be next Thursday. I let her know my husband had spoken with someone on Tuesday and was told we'd have the delivery on Friday. She then starting being very rude and short with me and said nothing about this is her fault. I also let her know that they have had our order for 2 days already and she said I was wrong because they have to call to schedule delivery within 24 hours of receipt. I told her I would forward her my tracking which shows an arrival scan on Tuesday, the day my husband spoke with someone. She said again, it's not her fault and there must be a problem with Article's tracking number. I let her know the only way it would have shown delivered if the driver scanned the package at drop off, and tracking showed that had happened on the 14th. She replied VERY sarcastically "yeah, you're right, I'm just lying." She said if I didn't want to wait for them, I could come pick my order up personally. She had such a bad attitude that I asked who her manager was and she said it was just her, and no one was above her. So I said I would speak with the owners, and again she said I couldn't talk to anyone but her. Given the already terrible reviews, I'm sure the owners couldn't care less, but I'll be trying to reach out to them via email regardless. As someone that has worked in customer service for 16 years, I'm appalled at the poor customer service of the manager, and can only imagine how awful the employees must be. read more

If you can avoid this company by all means DO IT!!! It is such a shame that Costco uses this company to delivery home furnishings for them. 2 weeks no 2 separate occasions they have not met their window of 4pm-8pm and they don't call until after the fact, not like maybe before, we are sorry its 815pm and DOT has made us stop driving!! Two stars because they did deliver...however... Seriously?? Order arrives to them in 12-18. I don't get the call to schedule until 1-6. Okay holidays got it. Window between 4-8pm. 7:45 I start trying to get in touch with the person on call. Of course no Answer. 8:30 I go to bed. I get up at 3am. 9:15 my phone rings ...we will be there around 9:30? Um ok! Per the driver he was told they called to advise me they were running behind. Of course they didn't. IKEA you need to contract with Exel Direct out of Nashville! Much more customer conscious. I messaged (text) the on call person Jodi after 7 calls with no answer. I received a message back this morning stating sorry I was unavailable last night. According to the reviews you are always unavailable since you never return calls. Bad way to do business! Reviews are usually honest when dealing with a service. read more
